Die Leute von Fox Factory erwarten nicht, dass Chevrolet einen brauchbaren Konkurrenten für den F-150 Raptor R oder den Ram TRX hervorbringt. Die 2024 Chevrolet Silverado Fox Factory Edition verfügt über 700 PS und genügend Federweg, um sicher auf einem Flugzeugträger zu landen. Fox Factory wird 500 dieser bulligen Silverados bauen, aber es gibt einen Haken: Sie kosten 209.999 US-Dollar. Laut Fox Factory handelt es sich hierbei um einen geschätzten Start-UVP, aber es sind immer noch 100.000 US-Dollar mehr als bei einem F-150 Raptor R. Für diesen Preis bekommt man einen Kompressor, der auf den 6,2-Liter-V8 des Silverado aufgeschraubt ist, was die Leistung auf die oben genannten 700 PS erhöht und 867 Nm Drehmoment. Der Borla-Auspuff verstärkt die Geräuschkuliss, und alles läuft über das 10-Gang-Automatikgetriebe von Chevy. Aber der Widerstand ist hier nicht der Antriebsstrang. Fox ist für seine Offroad-Magie bekannt, und dieser verbesserte Silverado verzichtet auf die hintere Blattfederaufhängung und setzt auf ein Mehrlenker-Setup mit langem Federweg. Fox 3.2-Gewindefahrwerke und Aluminium-Längslenker sorgen für einen nutzbaren Federweg von 15,5 Zoll im Heck. Vorne gibt es 14,5 Zoll Federweg mit Fox 3.2-Stoßdämpfern und einem A-Arm-Setup mit langem Federweg. Es handelt sich um ein halbaktives, elektronisch gesteuertes System, das im Inneren des Trucks verwaltet werden kann, wobei Fox Factory den Schwerpunkt auf „Echtzeitkontrolle und Stabilität bei hohen Geschwindigkeiten im Gelände“ legt. Der Baja Kit arbeitete mit dem Fox Factory Setup, 60er Dana-Achsen und einen ARB-Luftkasten im Heck zusammen. Die werksseitige Vorderachse mit begrenztem Schlupf verfügt über eine 3,73 Übersetzung und die Änderungen erhöhen die Spurweite des Silverado um sechs Zoll. 17-Zoll-Method-Rädern mit 37-Zoll-BFG-K02-Reifen ergänzen das Paket gekonnt. Fox Factory fügt zahlreiche Karosserie-Upgrades hinzu, um den mechanischen Änderungen Rechnung zu tragen. Die Motorhaube und die breiten vorderen Kotflügel sind aus Kohlefaser gefertigt, ebenso wie die hinteren Verkleidungsteile. Es gibt neue High-Clearance-Stoßfänger vorne und hinten, sowie zahlreiche Scheinwerfer und der Innenraum wurde mit Alcantara und noch mehr Kohlefaser aufgewertet. Fox Factory sagt nicht, wann der hochkarätige Silverado verfügbar sein wird, aber das Unternehmen nimmt derzeit Reservierungen mit einer Anzahlung von 5.000 US-Dollar entgegen.
The folks at Fox Factory don’t expect Chevrolet to produce a viable rival for the F-150 Raptor R or Ram TRX. The 2024 Chevrolet Silverado Fox Factory Edition has 700 horsepower and enough suspension travel to land safely on an aircraft carrier. Fox Factory will build 500 of these beefy Silverados, but there’s a catch: They cost $209,999. Fox Factory says that’s an estimated starting MSRP, but it’s still $100,000 more than an F-150 Raptor R. For that price, you get a supercharger bolted on top of the Silverado’s 6.2-liter V-8, which increases output to the aforementioned 700 hp and 640 lbs. Borla exhaust adds to the noise, and it all goes through Chevy’s 10-speed automatic transmission. But the resistance here is not the powertrain. Fox is known for its off-road magic, and this upgraded Silverado ditches the rear leaf spring suspension for a long-travel multi-link setup. Fox 3.2 coilovers and aluminum trailing arms provide 15.5 inches of usable travel in the rear. Up front, there’s 14.5 inches of travel with Fox 3.2 shocks on a long-travel A-arm setup. It’s a semi-active, electronically controlled system that can be managed inside the truck, with Fox Factory emphasizing „real-time control and stability at high speeds off-road.“ Baja Kits worked with Fox Factory on the setup, which includes Dana 60 Axles and an ARB air locker in the rear. The factory front limited-slip axle has 3.73 gears, and the changes add six inches to the Silverado’s track. They all ride on 17-inch Method wheels shod with 37-inch BFG K02 tyres. Fox Factory is adding numerous body upgrades to accommodate the mechanical changes. The hood and wide front fenders are made of carbon fiber, as are the rear bedheads. There are new high-clearance bumpers front and rear, there are lots of headlights, and the interior has been upgraded with Alcantara and even more carbon fibre. Fox Factory doesn’t say when the high-flying Silverado will be available, but the company is currently taking reservations with an initial payment of $5,000.
