After yesterday’s Acceleration Test, Day Two marked the first major challenge for the four-hundred-and-twenty-six riders entered in this year’s FIM EVT.

A long and demanding course, with three special tests, all to be ridden twice, awaited competitors. However, with the sun shining in Zschopau, riders could be sure of enjoyable racing.

At the head of the Vintage Veterans Trophy class, the United States looked to extend their lead as they began Day Two. A strong ride saw them do exactly that, taking victory today by eight seconds over runners-up Austria, with Italy third.

The overall standings at the end of Day Two see the United States lead by fifteen seconds over Austria, who move into second place. Italy will also be pleased with their efforts today, having climbed four positions up the leaderboard to third. France move up to fourth, with the Czech Republic fifth.

In the individual Vintage Veterans Trophy classification, Day Two saw the United States’ Fred Hoess (Husqvarna) claim a well-deserved victory over Italy’s Tullio Pellegrinelli (Puch-Frigerio). The Czech Republic’s Lubomir Vojkuvka (Jawa) completed the top three.

“Today was a really nice and tough enduro day,” said Portugal’s Antonio da Silva (Puch-Frigerio) at the end of Day Two. “I think it was one of the toughest days I have ever done at the FIM EVT, but the track was fantastic and the special tests were very nice to ride. The organisers got it right for sure.

“Personally, I only had one fall. I had some carburettor issues, too, but I think I have those solved now. So otherwise, everything was good, but I’m definitely a bit tired after that!”

At the end of Day Two, Vintage Silver Vase Italia have built up a commanding lead in the Vintage Silver Vase class. The Italians had the measure of their nearest rivals, Silver Vase 17 Kramer Werkxx, throughout the day and enter Day Three with a one-minute-and-eight-second advantage.

MC Simpson Suhl are currently third overall — fifty-eight seconds behind second place, but only thirty-six seconds in front of MC Scuderia Norelli in fourth. Silver Vase 4 EMC Witzschdorf complete the top five.

On Day Two, it was Italy’s Giuseppe Gallino (Puch) who topped the Vintage Silver Vase individual standings over his fellow countryman Andrea Rastrelli (MZ) in second, with Germany’s Rüdiger Bachmann (SWM) third.

The Vintage Club Team classification saw Tagliamento 1 take control of the overall lead on Day Two by a comfortable one-minute-and-twelve-seconds. With another tough day of racing expected tomorrow, they will look to extend their advantage.

Behind them, Club Team Germany 12 slotted into second place. Although with work to do to catch their rivals, Tagliamento 1, they also enjoy a healthy buffer over MSC Mauer in third. U.S. Leonessa D’Italia 1903 and Club Team Germany 2 complete the top five in fourth and fifth, respectively, but are only separated by six seconds.

It was all smiles for Germany’s Marcel Triebel (KTM), who won the Vintage Club Team individual classification today. Italy’s Mario Graziani (Maico) took second, with Germany’s Davide von Zitzewitz (KTM) rounding out the top three.

In the Vintage Individual class, Spain’s Francesc Puey (Suzuki) was once again the best-placed rider, with Poland’s Michal Korpas (Honda) second and Great Britain’s Alex Pringle (Husqvarna) third.
