It took a long time because, in contrast to its supermoto sister model, the KTM 690 Enduro wasn’t exactly a class hit in the company’s internal comparison. But now the Austrians have recognized that there is an urgent need for a rally version based on the world’s most powerful homologated single-cylinder. If you look at the incredible boom in the entry-level rally circus and the adventure segment in recent years, it was essential for a manufacturer that has become big and well-known with rally to pick up where it has its roots and celebrated its greatest successes.
The Austrians understood this better than many European car manufacturers. Homologated with a whopping 79 hp and a starting weight of just over 160 kilograms, these are consistently delicious values for adventurers and rally enthusiasts compared to significantly heavier two-cylinder engines.

So KTM took the proven and legendary LC4 engine including enduro peripherals, installed a rally cockpit and large tanks. The rally version is ready. What previously only had to be solved relatively expensively via the aftermarket is now available ready-made from the factory. The tank volume has increased from 13.3 liters (Enduro) to 20 liters thanks to two front tanks. Yes, this was already available in the Powerparts catalog, but not as a complete off-the-shelf package.
Overall, this not only massively increases long-distance suitability, but also counteracts the main tank at the rear, which was previously rather poorly positioned for the off-road segment, and the associated driving dynamic characteristics of the enduro model – TOP!
Highlights
- 7 liter front tank (two-part)
- Rally Tower
- Seat height 910 mm
- Wider Rally footpegs
- The rest is identical to the 690 Enduro R
- 4 years guarantee

Unfortunately, the press release is silent on further technical details, such as a chassis setup adapted to the additional weight, the long-awaited shorter first gear or a somewhat more harmonious throttle response from the large LC4 single-cylinder from idle speed onwards.

Still, a good step in the right direction that 690 fans will welcome.
- Availability: From October 2026
However, the Austrians are still keeping it secret when it comes to price calculations. Let’s hope that the cost rating remains within acceptable limits. The base in the form of the KTM 690 Enduro R currently costs 12,499 euros (Germany).
