Das Valleys Xtreme Enduro 2023 ist eines der berüchtigtsten Hardenduro-Veranstaltungen auf der Insel und lief zeitgleich zum 24MX Alestrem in Frankreich ab – wir berichteten LINK!
Die Location in Südwales, genannt Walters Arena, ist mir durch zigfache Teilnahmen beim 24-Stunden-Rennen Dawn to Dusk auf gleichem Terrain bestens bekannt. Das Gelände ist ein Offroad-Traum, der sowohl für Zwei- als auch Vierräder alles zu bieten hat. Kein Wunder dass die Teilnehmerzahlen in die Höhe schießen, sobald die Walters Arena im Gespräch ist. Und das bestätigte sich erneut beim Valleys Xtreme 2023 mit satten 500 Startern.
Am Samstag gab es zwei Qualifikationsrennen und das Valleys Lite über zwei Stunden, das sogar die großen Adventurebikes auf einem 14,4 Kilometer langen Kurs schickte. Am Sonntag folgten zwei mögliche Finale für die Pros (3h)und Amateure (2h) auf einer 16 Kilometer langen knüppelharten Strecke, gespickt mit No-Help-Zonen. Ex-Hardenduro-Weltmeister Billy Bolt war natürlich mit von der Partie und zeigte nicht nur der Konkurrenz, sondern auch den Zuschauern wie es geht.

Ergebnis: Sieg beim Qualifying und Sieg beim Finale.
Und wie lief es: Billy Bolt war in einem entspannten Modus auf seiner Husqvarna unterwegs und führte von Anfang an das Feld an und überquerte mit satten 15 Minuten vor seinem stärksten Rivalen Mitch Brightmore die Ziellinie.

Mitch Brightmore bewies mit seinem zweiten Platz nach einem deftigen Kampf mit Jack Price um die Podiumsplätze, dass das walisische Hardenduro ein gutes Trainingsgelände für Teilnehmer der Superenduro-Weltmeisterschaft ist. Die Paarung Brightmore/Price war im Ziel weniger als 30 Sekunden voneinander entfernt, nachdem es die letzte „No-Help-Zone“ hinter sich gelassen hatte. Denn diese letzte Zone war ein extrem brutaler Abschnitt, der viele Fahrer verzweifeln lies und Zeitüberschreitungen bescherte.

Jack Spencer, Richard Moorhouse, Paul Bolton und Burts Crayston komplettierten die Top-7 und waren die einzigen Fahrer, die die offizielle Ziellinie erreichten. Das zeigt wie heftig der Kurs durch sein spezielles und glattes Schiefergestein, das gerade in Verbindung mit Schlamm und Wasser stets deftige Slip-Zonen garantiert, war.

The Valleys Xtreme Enduro 2023 is one of the most notorious hard enduro events on the island and was running at the same time as the 24MX Alestrem in France – we reported LINK!
The location in South Wales, called Walters Arena, is well known to me because I have participated in the Dawn to Dusk 24-hour race on the same terrain numerous times. The terrain is an off-road dream that has everything to offer for both two- and four-wheelers. No wonder that the number of participants skyrockets as soon as the Walters Arena is discussed. And that was confirmed again at the Valleys Xtreme 2023 with a whopping 500 starters.
On Saturday there were two qualifying races and the two-hour Valleys Lite, which sent even the big adventure bikes down a 14.4-kilometer course. Two possible finals for the pros (3h) and amateurs (2h) followed on Sunday on a 16-kilometer rock-hard course, peppered with no-help zones. Former hard enduro world champion Billy Bolt was of course there and not only showed the competition, but also the spectators how it’s done.

Result: Victory in qualifying and victory in the final.
And how did it go: Billy Bolt was in a relaxed mode on his Husqvarna and led the field from the start and crossed the finish line a whopping 15 minutes ahead of his closest rival Mitch Brightmore.

Mitch Brightmore proved that Welsh hard enduro is good training ground for Superenduro World Championship competitors with his second place finish after a hearty battle with Jack Price for the podium. The Brightmore/Price pairing was less than 30 seconds apart at the finish after clearing the final no-help zone. Because this last zone was an extremely brutal section that made many drivers despair and caused time violations.

Jack Spencer, Richard Moorhouse, Paul Bolton and Burts Crayston completed the top 7 and were the only riders to reach the official finish line. This shows how violent the course was due to its special and smooth slate rock, which always guarantees solid slip zones, especially in connection with mud and water.
