Am dritten Fahrtag mussten die Ärmel zurückgekrempelt werden und Graham Jarvis zeigte beim diesjährigen Rennen eine weitere herausragende Leistung. Entschlossenheit zu zeigen und dass er immer noch hungrig auf Siege ist, zeigte der Brite den ganzen Tag indem er hart daran gearbeitet hat seinen engsten Rivalen Lettenbichler in Schach zu halten.
Nachdem Lettenbichler gestern alle übertrumpft hatte und einen 16 Minuten Vorsprung herausfahren konnte, hatte Graham dieses Mal was dagegen. Da die Hochgeschwindigkeits-Grasabschnitte am frühen Morgen nicht ganz nach seinem Geschmack waren, drehte der Husqvarna-Fahrer richtig auf, als es in technisches Gelände ging. Er kämpfte hart und holte die Bestzeiten bei den zwei wichtigsten Checkpoints des Tages. Obwohl Lettenbichler in der Schlussphase nochmal zurückschlug hatte Graham genug Polster erarbeitet, um den Sieg zu besiegeln.
BROKEBACK MOUNTAIN

Mit dem zweiten Tagessieg der Woche baut er seinen Vorsprung im Rennen auf fast 16 Minuten aus, wobei nur noch ein Fahrtag übrig ist. Mit dem Gesamtsieg könnte sich Graham den historischen siebten Red Bull Romaniacs-Sieg sichern.
Nach dem gestrigen Maximalangriff hatte Lettenbichler nicht genug Power, um noch einmal mit 100 Prozent zu pushen. Und als Jarvis das Tempo erhöhte, war der Deutsche gezwungen sich hinter dem Husqvarna-Fahrer einzureihen und sich anzuschließen. Der KTM-Fahrer, der in der Gesamtwertung auf den sechsten Gesamtrang vorrückt, will morgen alles geben, um den letzten Etappensieg zu erringen.
Hinter Jarvis und Lettenbichler war der Kampf um den dritten Platz zwischen Mario Roman, Michael Walkner Teodor Kabakchiev äußerst eng. Walkner war am Morgen auf einer Mission und holte Roman schnell ein. Das Paar blieb dann zusammen, um sich Kabakchiev zu nähern.

Das Tempo, das Roman und Walkner vorgaben war hoch, aber Roman hatte in der Schlussphase noch ein kleines Extra, um etwas Zeit auf Walkner gut zu machen und den dritten Platz zu sichern. In der Gesamtwertung erwies es sich als gute Teamarbeit für das Duo während Walkner Trystan Hart von FMF KTM Factory Racing überholte und auf den vierten Platz vorrückte.
Während es an der Spitze der Gesamtwertung viele Kämpfe gab, mussten einige Fahrer das Rennen vorzeitig beenden. Alfredo Gomez vom AG Racing Team 89 und Taddy Blazusiak von GASGAS Factory Racing schieden am Dienstag aus. Enttäuschend war es auch für den Italiener Sonny Goggia (KTM), der verletzungsbedingt auf dem sechsten Gesamtrang aufhören musste.
Die fünfte Runde der FIM-Hard-Enduro-Weltmeisterschaft endet mit dem morgigen letzten Fahrtag.
Mario Roman (Sherco): „Heute Morgen war das Tempo sehr hoch. Ich hatte das Gefühl an meiner Grenze zu kommen und als mich dann Michael Walkner einholte war ich absolut überrascht. Aber er fuhr gut und wir blieben zusammen und machten uns eine gute Zeit. Danach haben wir auch noch zu Teodor aufgeschlossen und das hat dem Ganzen sicher gut getan.“

Michael Walkner (GASGAS): „Am Anfang habe ich hart gepusht, um Mario einzuholen. Als ich ihn endlich eingeholt habe konnten wir zusammen fahren. Wir haben beide etwas mehr Fahrt aufgenommen und das genutzt, um Teodor einzuholen. Einen Tag vor Schluss wird es noch recht eng um die Podestplätze. Ich habe noch Chancen, also werde ich wie verrückt pushen!“
Trystan Hart (KTM): „Ich habe mich in der zweiten Tageshälfte viel besser gefühlt. Heute Morgen bin ich einfach nicht gut gefahren. Auf einem grasbewachsenen Abschnitt fühlte ich mich auf Grund der versteckten Felsen und Furchen nicht wohl und es dauerte eine Weile, bis ich mich neu gesammelt hatte. Ich habe jetzt etwas Zeit auf Walkner verloren, hoffentlich kann ich morgen stark zurückkommen und Vierter werden.“

The gloves were off today for Offroad Day 3 at Red Bull Romaniacs with Graham Jarvis putting on yet another outstanding performance at this year’s race. Determined to show that he’s hungry to fight at every opportunity for Offroad Day wins, the Brit pushed hard all day to keep his closest rival Lettenbichler at bay.
After Lettenbichler caught everyone on the hop yesterday to win by 16 minutes, Graham was in no mood to allow that to happen again. With the early morning high-speed grassy sections not quite to his liking, the Husqvarna rider turned up the heat when they entered more technical terrain. Pushing hard he topped two important checkpoints of the day and despite Lettenbichler fighting back in the closing stages, Graham had enough in hand to seal the win.

The victory, his second of the week, sees him extend his race lead to almost 16 minutes with just one more day remaining. Claiming the overall victory will see Graham secure a historic seventh Red Bull Romaniacs win.
After yesterday’s maximum attack, Lettenbichler found he didn’t have enough in the tank today to push again at 100 per cent. And with Jarvis upping the pace, the German was forced to settle in behind the Husqvarna rider and ride together. Moving up to sixth overall in classification, the KTM rider will aim to go all-out tomorrow to claim the final stage win.
Behind Jarvis and Lettenbichler, the battle for third was tight between Mario Roman, GASGAS’ Michael Walkner and Team Bulgaria powered by ECONT’s Teodor Kabakchiev. Walkner was on a mission during the morning and quickly caught up to Roman. The pair then stayed together to close in on Kabakchiev.

The pace Roman and Walkner were setting was high, however Roman just had a little extra in the closing stages to pull some time back on Walkner to claim third. In the overall standings it proved good teamwork for the duo, with Roman claiming some time on Kabakchiev in second, while Walkner overtook FMF KTM Factory Racing’s Trystan Hart to move into fourth.
While the battles were plenty at the top of the standings, we also saw the race end for numerous riders. Tuesday’s prologue top-two of AG Racing Team 89’s Alfredo Gomez and GASGAS Factory Racing’s Taddy Blazusiak both retired. There was disappointment too for Italy’s Sonny Goggia (KTM) who dropped out of sixth overall due to injury.
Round five of the FIM Hard Enduro World Championship at Red Bull Romaniacs concludes with tomorrow’s final Offroad Day 4.
Mario Roman (Sherco): “This morning the pace was very fast. I felt like I was near my limit and then when Michael Walkner caught up to me, I was surprised. But he was riding well, and we stayed together and made some good time. We caught up to Teodor after that too and that’s been good for the overall for sure.”
Michael Walkner (GASGAS): “I was pushing hard in the beginning to catch Mario and when I caught up to him, we were able to ride together. We both picked up some more speed and used that to catch up to Teodor. It’s still quite tight for the podium positions with one day to go. I have an outside shot, so I’ll push like crazy!”

Trystan Hart (KTM): “I felt way better in the second half of the day. This morning I just wasn’t riding good. On a grassy section I wasn’t comfortable on it due to the hidden rocks and ruts and that sort of took me a while to regroup from. I’ve dropped a bit of time now to Walkner, hopefully tomorrow I can come back strong and get fourth.”
