Nach dem äußerst erfolgreichen Abestone Hardenduro geht die FIM Hardenduro World Championship in weniger als einer Woche weiter, wenn die berüchtigten Red Bull Romaniacs die Teilnehmer zur 18. Ausgabe der weltweit führenden Hard Enduro Rallye begrüßen. Es soll ein Thriller werden, hier sind sechs Gründe, warum ihr sie nicht verpassen solltet!

1. National Roll Call
Red Bull Romaniacs ist ein Rennen auf der To-Do-Liste für jeden aufstrebenden Hardenduro-Fahrer, egal ob Profi oder Amateur. Insgesamt werden etwa 50 Nationen vertreten sein, mit Fahrern aus Kanada, Peru und Australien und es werden sagenhafte 47 Fahrer in der Gold-Klasse an den Start gehen.
2. A Night Under The Stars
Red Bull Romaniacs überrascht immer wieder. Keine zwei Ausgaben sind jemals gleich. In der Vergangenheit haben wir gesehen, dass der Renntross außerhalb der Gastgeberstadt Sibiu übernachtet hat, aber für 2021 gehen die Organisatoren noch einen Schritt weiter. Eine Marathonetappe – zwei Tage kombiniert – wird mit einer Nacht in den Bergen und unter dem Sternenhimmel abgerundet. Da keine fremde Hilfe erlaubt ist, müssen die Fahrer selbst an ihren Bikes arbeiten und in einem Zelt schlafen. Vergesst eure Zahnbürste nicht, Jungs und Mädels!
3. Pol Tarres Up For The Challenge
Eine Hardenduro Rallye wie Red Bull Romaniacs zieht immer ein bisschen Verrückte an und für 2021 ist das Pol Tarres! Normalerweise tritt er in der Gold-Klasse an, aber dieses Jahr ist er wieder auf Bronze zurückgeschwenkt – aus gutem Grund. Bewaffnet mit einer 200 kg schweren Yamaha Tenere 700 versucht er auf einem Zweizylinder-Abenteuermotorrad als erster Fahrer in dieser Kategorie ins Ziel zu kommen. Wir wünschen ihm viel Glück!
4. The Hall of Fame
Ein Rennen wie die Red Bull Romaniacs zu beenden, ist eine unglaubliche Leistung – der Gewinn des Events trägt den Fahrer in die Hardenduro-Folklore ein. Legende Graham Jarvis steht mit sechs Siegen an der Spitze der Red Bull Romaniacs Hall of Fame und ist mehr als nur in der Lage, es auf ganze sieben Titel zu schaffen. Von denen, die auch für 2021 gemeldet wurden hat Manuel Lettenbichler die letzten beiden Ausgaben gewonnen, Wade Young war 2018 siegreich, während Jonny Walker zwei Siege von 2015 und 2014 hält. Wird die 18. Ausgabe einen neuen Gewinner bringen? Der extrem starke Billy Bolt ist der absolute Favorit!
5. Vertical Madness Reloaded!
Red Bull Romaniacs ist berühmt für seine anstrengenden Anstiege in den Bergen und 2021 wird es da keine Ausnahmen geben. Die Organisatoren pushen die Höhenmeter auf satten 35.000 für die komplette Rennwoche.
6. Gusterita Finish Line
Bei den Red Bull Romaniacs gibt es ein bekanntes Sprichwort: „Es ist nie vorbei, bis es vorbei ist“. Und das liegt daran, dass Offroad Day 4 nie ein Spaziergang ist. Robust wie alte Stiefel ist der Gusterita-Zielbereich immer spektakulär. Mit der Ziellinie in Sicht springen kampfermüdete Fahrer buchstäblich durch die Reifen, um dorthin zu gelangen. Mant hat fast unmögliche Anstiege, Aquaplaning und faszinierende Hindernisparcours gesehen und wird es nächste Woche sicher wieder erleben dürfen.

Following hot on the heels of the hugely successful Abestone Hard Enduro, the FIM Hard Enduro World Championship continues at pace less than one week from today, when the infamous Red Bull Romaniacs welcomes competitors for the 18th edition of the world’s number one Hard Enduro Rallye. Red Bull Romaniacs is a bucket-list race for every aspiring Hard Enduro rider, professional or amateur. World-renowned, it’s only natural then to see that competitors from many different nations have once again signed up to compete. In total, approximately 50 nations will be strongly represented with people travelling from as far as Canada, Peru and Australia and we’ll see a whopping 47 Gold class riders take to the start line.
2. A Night Under The Stars
Red Bull Romaniacs never fails to deliver surprises. No two editions are ever the same. In the past we’ve seen the race have overnight stays away from host city Sibiu, but for 2021 organisers are taking things one step further. A marathon stage – two days combined – will be highlighted with a night in the mountains and under the stars. With no outside assistance allowed, riders have got to work on their own bikes and sleep in a tent. Don’t forget your toothbrush guys n’ girls!
3. Pol Tarres Up For The Challenge
A Hard Enduro Rallye like Red Bull Romaniacs always attracts a little bit of crazy and for 2021 Pol Tarres is bringing the goods! Normally found competing in Gold class, he’s stepped back to Bronze this year, but for good reason. Armed with a 200kg Yamaha Tenere 700, he’s attempting to become the first rider to finish in this category on a two-cylinder adventure motorcycle. We wish him luck!
4. The Hall of Fame
To finish a race like Red Bull Romaniacs is one heck of an accomplishment – winning the event etches your name into Hard Enduro folklore. Legend Graham Jarvis sits at the top table when it comes to the Red Bull Romaniacs Hall of Fame with six wins and is more than capable of making it seven. Of those also entered for 2021, Manuel Lettenbichler has won the previous two editions, Wade Young was victorious in 2018, while Jonny Walker holds two wins from 2015 and 2014. Will the 18th edition deliver a new winner?
5. Vertical Madness Reloaded!
Red Bull Romaniacs is famed for its punishing climbs in the mountains and 2021 will be no exception. The organisers are pushing the elevation with a whopping 35,000+ metres of altitude on the cards across the week of racing.
6. Gusterita Finish Line
There’s a well-known saying among competitors at Red Bull Romaniacs – ‘it’s never over until it’s over’. And that’s because Offroad Day 4 is never a walk in the park. Tough as old boots, the Gusterita finishing area is always spectacular. With the finish line in sight, battle-weary riders literally jump through hoops to get there. We’ve seen near-impossible climbs, aquaplaning and mesmerising obstacle courses, and we’re sure to witness it again next week.
