In the MXGP TOP, in the AMA Pro Motocross racing series FLOP? Why is that so and can you compare the factory bikes in MXGP with the factory bikes in the USA at all. Clearly a resounding NO. Why? In MXGP, pure prototypes are used in principle. This means that everything is SPECIAL and has nothing to do with the series, even if proven MXGP modifications will certainly find their way into the production models at some point in the following years. The situation is completely different in the USA, because there, according to the latest information, at least 400 production vehicles must be available for the public to buy in the USA, only then are they allowed to compete in the AMA Pro Motocross, which would be an impossible undertaking with thoroughbred factory bikes from MXGP. This is to prevent only the factory teams with factory bikes from competing and the private riders from having no chance.

That’s why the 450cc success in the USA doesn’t really seem to be feasible for the Greens at the moment, while top placement is no problem in MXGP. Neither Chase Sexton nor Jorge Prado was able to achieve consistent success with the green 450. The latter is currently always in the top 5 on his KTM, after he didn’t do anything on GREEN. For example, according to the regulations, the frame and swingarm of the US boys must correspond to the production model, which is not the case with the MXGP boys. This means that the problem of the production model will most likely and currently only come into play in the USA, which means that one can now hopefully expect appropriate adjustments for the 2027 model series. Of course, no one knows 100 percent whether this US problem and the conclusion drawn from it can be transferred 1:1 to the production models. What factors are actually responsible for Prado and Sexton’s difficulties, we will most likely not know.

Back on the European continent, the Greens are definitely on the golden road with their 2025 MXGP world title by Frenchman Romain Febvre. After all, they currently occupy P3 in the 2026 overall standings behind Coenen and Herlings. But now finally to the new 2027 models!
