The GP of Portugal I, round four of the Paulo Duarte FIM EnduroGP World Championship, officially got underway with an action-packed AKRAPOVIC Super Test in Fafe on Friday evening. Red Bull KTM Factory Racing’s Josep Garcia led home the field of riders to claim his third win of the season.
A busy Friday for the GP of Portugal I saw the FIM EnduroGP paddock welcome Portugal’s Secretary of State for Sport, Dr. Pedro Dias to Fafe. Together with the Mayor of Fafe, the dignitaries gathered in the city hall to meet riders, while also touring the paddock.

Soon afterwards, it was time to go racing for the AKRAPOVIC Super Test. Putting on a show in front of the Portuguese fans, Red Bull KTM Factory Racing’s Josep Garcia made short work of the AKRAPOVIC Super Test to set the fastest time. However, he was pushed hard, with TM MOTO Boano Factory Enduro Team’s Zach Pichon finishing just 0.12 seconds behind him.
In what proved to be his best AKRAPOVIC Super Test of the season so far, Sherco Racing Factory’s Steve Holcombe took third. The top three were split by only 0.4 seconds, indicating Saturday will be a closely fought affair.

Behind them, Honda Racing RedMoto Enduro Team’s Max Ahlin got his GP of Portugal I off to a strong start with fourth, while Triumph Italia Racing’s Morgan Lesiardo was only 0.03 seconds behind him in fifth.
In the Tsubaki Junior Enduro category, Triumph Factory Racing’s Leo Joyon topped the standings. The Frenchman rode hard to place 0.64 seconds clear of his fellow countryman Clement Clauzier (Beta) in second. TM MOTO Boano Factory Enduro Team’s Manuel Verzeroli completed the top three.
The Putoline Oil Youth Enduro category saw TM MOTO Costa Ligure’s Pietro Scardina take a commanding AKRAPOVIC Super Test win. Scardina placed almost three seconds clear of WP Eric Auge’s Yago Dominguez in second, with Gabriele Melchiorri (TM MOTO) a further 1.82 seconds back in third.
Wildcard entry Shelby Turner (Triumph) wasted no time in getting acquainted with the Expotrade Women’s Enduro class, with the Canadian dominating the field. Turner laid down a bench marker of a time that could not be matched, beating RIEJU Factory Team’s Rachel Gutish in second by an astonishing 6.84 seconds, with Gutish’s teammate Rosie Rowett third.
