Is a sixth world championship title overall possible for Manuel Lettenbichler? All signs are pointing to GO at Hixpania! Even though Billy Bolt is back in the mix—and no longer plays a role in the outcome of the world championship—he could still snatch crucial points that might significantly shrink the existing 32-point lead over Mitch Brightmore. But Manuel Lettenbichler is a professional who calculates precisely and will not take any unnecessary risks. From there, he just needs to trust the tech and bring along the necessary portion of luck, and nothing will stand in the way of his sixth world title. However, one major unknown is the new race format featuring significant changes that could have a major impact on how the race unfolds—more on that at the end of the report.
Lettenbichler’s Strongest Adversary
If Mitch Brightmore manages to bag the maximum score of 33 points, he could still snatch the title—provided Manuel Lettenbichler comes away from the final with zero points, which seems relatively unlikely given his track record this year.
Things are heating up even more for the positions behind them between Teodor Kabakchiev, Ashton Brightmore, and James Moore. They are all within a 13-point window, so naturally, everything is still play for.
In the Junior class, things are just as thrilling. Only the best six rounds count: James Moore’s and Ashton Brightmore’s lowest score recorded so far this season was 26 points. This means the result achieved at Hixpania will only count toward the overall World Championship standings if it is strictly above 26 points.
Consequently, Ashton Brightmore needs at least 30 points and four more than Moore to take the title. If he falls just one point short of either marker, the two could finish tied on points, leaving the tie-breaker to decide the title.
World Championship Standings

Three Days of „Hardcore“ Racing
-
Friday – SuperEncierro: The weekend kicks off Friday evening in Hixpania Village with the SuperEncierro, a short multi-lap city enduro in which only championship riders are allowed to participate. Following free practice and timed practice, the Caballeros will compete in two semi-finals of six minutes plus one lap each, split by odd and even start numbers. The top seven riders from each heat advance to the 14-rider final, while the Hixpanos riders will contest their own final. The top three in each class receive 3-2-1 points.
-
Saturday – Campoo Xtreme: Saturday’s sprint race takes place on a 6 km hard enduro loop right next to the legendary reservoir. In the morning, riders complete a reconnaissance lap followed by a timed qualification lap, starting according to their championship standings. Their qualification times determine their starting position for the race. The race lasts one hour plus one lap, with the top 15 riders starting in a triangular formation and the rest in rows of 20 at 30-second intervals. The top ten riders receive points scaled down from 10 to 1.
-
Sunday – THE LOST ROAD: The main race, El Camino Perdido or The Lost Road, covers a loop of roughly 4.5 km on the Caracol peninsula. Saturday’s top ten start as usual from the legendary collapsed cave in a diagonal paired formation at five-second intervals. The rest of the field lines up behind them in rows of ten.
There is also a knockout mode: seventy riders start, and the bottom ten are eliminated at the end of each of the first three laps. After two hours—at 2:00 PM—the Hixpania Hill opens: a final section in the quarry that only the top-ten riders of the race will enter. Any top-ten riders who are a lap behind will be sent back onto the track to complete their lap. The Hixpania Hill section then closes at 3:00 PM, and anyone who has not reached the finish line by then will be ranked based on completed laps and checkpoints reached. The top 15 earn points, with a massive 20 points going to the winner. Let’s see if Manuel Lettenbichler will make history once again!
Pol Tarrés will also be back at the start line on his Ténéré 700!
