Was wäre, wenn wir ins Ausland fliegen, ein altes Gefährt kaufen, es in einer Woche reparieren und einen Monat lang durch das Land fahren und die besten Offroad-Strecken erkunden würden? Genau das werden wir versuchen. Fliegen, kaufen, bauen, Rallye.
Dieser Prozess begann vor Monaten. Ich wechselte meinen Marktplatz nach Auckland, Neuseeland, und suchte jeden Tag nach Gefährten. Tolle Gefährte zu finden war nicht schwer, aber Diesel, Schaltgetriebe, Starrachse, Wof-Regulator und Heckklappe zu finden, erwies sich als ziemliche Herausforderung. Wof steht für Warrant of Fitness (Warrant of Fitness), eine halbjährlich vorgeschriebene Inspektion für ältere Fahrzeuge, um sicherzustellen, dass sie verkehrstauglich sind. REG steht für Registration (Registrierung), was lediglich bedeutet, dass das Fahrzeug einen sauberen Fahrzeugbrief und einen aktuellen Halter hat. RUCS ist eine Straßenbenutzungsgebühr von 75 $/1000 km, nur für Dieselfahrzeuge. Erst vier Tage vor unserem Abflug haben wir endlich etwas gefunden. Zum Glück haben wir in Neuseeland eine super Verbindung.
Durch einen unglaublichen Glücksfall zahlten wir am Ende nur 12.500 NZD. Obwohl wir unser Budget überschritten hatten, bekamen wir einen LKW, der bereits mit einer Hebebühne, neuen Reifen und einer Seilwinde ausgestattet war. Das wird uns hoffentlich eine Menge Zeit sparen – vorausgesetzt, die Wartung läuft gut.
Unser letzter Stopp vor unserer Abreise ist Feldon Shelter. Die Schwesterfirma von West Supply, einem der Pioniere bei der Einführung hochwertiger Overland-Ausrüstung in Neuseeland. Dank Renes Empfehlung haben sie sich bereit erklärt, uns für unser bevorstehendes Abenteuer ein Zelt, ein paar Aufbewahrungsmöglichkeiten und Maxxtraxx zu leihen. Wir sind von Geschäft zu Geschäft gezogen und haben mehr als nur Ausrüstung und Fanartikel gekauft. Die Energie hier ist ansteckend. Ich kann kaum in Worte fassen, wie erfüllend es ist, wenn andere genauso begeistert von deinem Traum sind wie du. Es ist eine andere Art von Sponsoring, wenn man sich nicht erst selbst verkaufen muss.
JUP, die Fly-Buy-Build- und Rallye-Serie ist lebendig und floriert. Wir sind an der Westküste der Südinsel, Karma. Unsere Augen sind noch frisch an einem neuen Ort, aber wir haben schon das Gefühl, dass es schwer sein wird, die Nähe der coolen Dinge zueinander zu toppen.
Dies ist die einzige Höhle, die ich je betreten habe, die in mir den Wunsch geweckt hat, ein Höhlenmensch zu sein.
Nachdem wir unseren ehrfürchtigen Blick von den Wänden und unsere sprachlosen Kinnladen vom Kalksteinboden abgekratzt hatten, machten wir uns wieder auf den Weg nach Süden, um unseren späten Reiseplan abzuschließen. WOW! Wir platzten vor Freude heraus, nur um dann weiterzumachen, als wir den vielleicht schönsten Strand zum Reifenlegen entdeckten. Also folgten wir dem Ruf.
Von Karamea, einer der abgelegeneren Regionen Neuseelands, aus erreichen wir die berühmte Great Coast Road. Eine Fahrt, die der Küste Oregons in nichts nachsteht.
Ab hier können wir uns schon fast auf Überraschungen in diesem Land freuen. Morgen setzen wir diese kurze Flussroute fort, vorbei an den Stellen, an denen die Spuren des letzten Jahres weggeschwemmt wurden. Wir müssen sie selbst bewältigen. Aber das ist für das nächste Mal.

What if we fly abroad, buy an old vehicle, repair it in a week and drive through the country for a month and explore the best off-road routes? That is exactly what we will try. Flying, buying, building, rally.
This process started months ago. I moved my marketplace to Auckland, New Zealand, and searched for companions every day. It was not difficult to find great companions, but diesel, manual gearbox, rigid axle, WOF regulator and tailgate proved to be quite a challenge. Our last stop before our departure is Feldon Shelter. The sister company of West Supply, one of the pioneers in the introduction of high-quality overland equipment in New Zealand. We moved from shop to shop and bought more than just equipment and fan articles. The energy here is contagious. I can hardly put into words how fulfilling it is when others are as enthusiastic about your dream as you are. It is a different kind of sponsorship if you don’t have to sell yourself.
Jup, the Fly-Buy-Buy Dild and Rallye series is alive and flourished. We are on the west coast of the South Island, Karma. Our eyes are still fresh in a new place, but we already have the feeling that it will be difficult to top the closeness of the cool things.
This is the only cave that I have ever entered that I have aroused the desire to be a cave person.
After we had scratched our awesome look from the walls and our speechless chin shop from the limestone floor, we made our way to the south again to complete our late travel schedule. WOW! We burst out with joy, only to continue when we discovered the perhaps most beautiful beach for laying tires. So we followed the call.
From Karamea, one of the more remote regions of New Zealand, we reach the famous Great Coast Road. A journey that is in no way inferior to the oregon coast.
From here we can almost look forward to surprises in this country. Tomorrow we continue this short river route, past the places where the traces of the past year were washed away. We have to cope with them ourselves. But that’s for the next time.
