Am ersten Renntag der 17. Ausgabe der Red Bull Romaniacs mussten die Gold-Klasse insgesamt knackige 114 Kilometer Hardcore-Strecke zurücklegen, wofür die Besten der Besten im Schnitt sechs Stunden benötigten.

SPLASH
Trotz einem sehr hohen Anfangstempo blieben die Top-Fahrer stets relativ nah zusammen und fuhren auch in ähnlicher Form ins Ziel. Alfredo Gomez hatte anfangs etwas Probleme mit einer zu straffen Gabel, was man aber beim ersten möglichen Service-Point sofort optimierte, so dass er wieder mit gewohnten Vertrauen in der Vorderhand den hohen Speed der Spitze mitgehen konnte. Trotz dem Umstand, dass er seinen Trinkschlauch seines Camelbags abriss und so den Rest der Strecke ohne weitere Flüssigkeitsversorgung abwickeln musste ist der 5. Platz ein hervorragendes Ergebnis.

Wade Young hatte einen harten Start in den Tag, den er kam nicht so recht in den gewohnten Rhythmus. Außerdem hatte er dann auch noch mit Kupplungsproblemen zu kämpfen und bei einer Auffahrt kam er etwas vom Kurs ab kam, so wie er selbst in einem Interview mitteilte. Trotz dieser Umstände ist der 4. Platz von Wade Young eine echte Kampfansage an die Konkurrenz.

Doch keinem geringeren als dem Altmeister himself Graham Jarvis gelang der erste Tagessieg womit er erneut den Jungen Wilden die Zähne zeigte. Aus deutscher Sicht konnte sich Manuel Lettenbichler mit eine 2. Platz und nur 36 Sekunden hinter dem Führenden Graham ordentlich in Szene setzen. David Braun belegt einen soliden 14. Platz mit einem Rückstand auf die Spitze von 2 Stunden und 52 Minuten. Daran kann man schon jetzt erkennen wir groß die Unterschiede der Werksfahrer zu den Privatiers sind. Aber auch Spitzenpiloten wie Taddy Blazusiak mit einem 8. Platz, aber satten 40 Minuten Rückstand auf die Führenden hatten so ihre Probleme.

In der Silber-Klasse trumpfte Tim Apolle mit Rang 3 auf. Alexander Gehlert und Eddie Findling holte sich Platz 1 und 2 in der Bronze-Klasse während sich Roman Stieper in der Iron-Klasse mit Platz 5 hervorragend aus der Affäre zog.

On the first day of racing of the 17th edition of the Red Bull Romaniacs, the gold class had to cover a crisp 114 kilometers of hardcore track, for which the best of the best took an average of six hours.
Despite a very high starting pace, the top drivers always stayed relatively close together and also drove to the finish in a similar form. Alfredo Gomez initially had some problems with a too stiff fork-setting, but this was immediately optimized at the first possible service point so that he could keep up with the high speed of the top with the usual confidence. Despite the fact that he ripped of the hose of his Camelbag, he had to cover the rest of the route without any further fluid supply – the 5th place is an excellent result.
Wade Young had a tough start to the day, and he didn’t quite get into his usual rhythm. He also had to struggle with clutch problems and on a uphill he got off course a bit, as he himself announced in an interview. Despite these circumstances, Wade Young’s 4th place is a real challenge to the competition.
But none other than the old master himself Graham Jarvis achieved the first victory of the day with which he again showed the young wild ones his teeth. From a German point of view, Manuel Lettenbichler was able to put himself in the limelight with a 2nd place and only 36 seconds behind the leader Graham. David Braun occupies a solid 14th place, 2 hours and 52 minutes behind the top. From this you can already see how big the differences are between the factory drivers and the privateers. But also top drivers like Taddy Blazusiak with an 8th place, but a full 40 minutes behind the leaders, had their problems.
