Dieses Mal ging es für die Hardenduro-Weltelite nach Kanada, nachdem man sich beim Red Bull Tennessee Knockout ein paar Tage zuvor auf brutale Art und Weise auf dem nordamerikanischen Kontinent bei heftiger Luftfeuchtigkeit akklimatisiert hatte.
Downtown Calgary: Ein Hardenduro-Hexenkessel!
Bolt ist stets ein Siegeskandidat wenn es um den Prolog geht. So konnte er sowohl seinen Vorlauf, als auch das Halbfinale in überlegener Manier gewinnen. Jonny Walker von Beta setzte sich gegen Lettenbichler durch und gewann den zweiten Lauf, während Ryder Leblond (Husqvarna) den dritten Lauf für sich entscheiden konnte.
Während Bolt im ersten Halbfinale vor Walker und Leblond siegte, war es Lettenbichler, der im zweiten Halbfinale der Schnellste war. Mit Hart als Zweiter und Gomez als Dritter hinter dem Deutschen war die Bühne für ein actionreiches Finale im Schatten der Wolkenkratzern von Calgary startklar.
Actiongeladenes Winner-takes-all-Finale
Von Anfang an kämpften die großen Favoriten mit dem Messer zwischen den Zähnen um den Einzug ins Finale. Manche auch etwas zu hart. So warf ein Sturz Billy Bolt zurück und sorgte dadurch für ihn für erschwerte Bedingungen und zusätzliche Arbeit. Unterdessen hatte Lettenbichler etwas stressfreier die Nase vorn und begann, seinen ersten Prolog-Sieg der Saison ins Auge zu fassen.
Mit neun fehlerfreien Runden konnte Letti überzeugen, musste jedoch den ultraschnell heraneilenden Billy Bolt trotzdem noch abwehren, um sich den Sieg und drei wichtigen Zusatz-Meisterschaftspunkte sichern zu können. Billy Bolt kommentierte seinen Sturz damit, dass er etwas zu forsch auf dem rutschigen Beton zur Sache ging, dafür aber mit seiner Aufholjagd eine top Leistung zeigte.
Auch der Local Hero Trystan Hart vergab seine Chance auf einen Prologsieg durch einen unplanmäßigen Sturz. Der Kanadier kämpfte sich durch das Feld und machte auf Lettenbichler richtig Boden gut, bis ihn ein erneuter Sturz bei den Reifen nochmal einbremste, was aber schlussendlich für Rang drei noch ausreichte – was für ein Kampf.
Mit einer beeindruckenden Fahrt brachte Leblond seine Husqvarna als Vierter ins Ziel, während Gomez die Top Fünf komplettierte.
Manuel Lettenbichler (KTM): „Ich bin begeistert, es ist das erste Mal, dass ich einen Prolog gewinnen konnte! Ich hatte einen sauberen Lauf und habe versucht keine Fehler zu machen, was sich ausgezahlt hat. Mal sehen, was das Finale in den Badlands bringt.“
Billy Bolt (Husqvarna): „Ich hatte einen dummen Sturz, der meine eigene Schuld war. Ich habe zu früh etwas zu viel Druck gemacht und dafür den Preis bezahlt. Ich war froh, am Ende an Trystan vorbeizukommen und noch Zweiter zu werden.“
Trystan Hart (KTM): „Oh Mann, das war ein verrücktes Finale. Wir haben hart gepusht. Ich hatte einen schlechten Start, kam aber bis auf den dritten und dann auf den zweiten Platz vor, als Billy stürzte. Aber dann stürzte ich ebenfalls und rutschte auf den dritten Platz zurück. Es hat aber trotzdem großen Spaß gemacht!“

DIE BADLANDS – das große Finale
Nach einem actiongeladenem Prolog in Calgary ging es für das Finale der vierten Runde der FIM Hardenduro-Weltmeisterschaft in die legendären Badlands in Steveville.
Nach seinem Sieg im Prolog legte Lettenbichler so richtig los und erarbeitete sich sofort einen Vorsprung, doch Billy Bolt schloss schnell auf und sie machten dann in der ersten von drei Runde gemeinsame Sache. Das restliche Feld kämpft wie wild um jede Position, so dass es aussah, als hätte man in ein Wespennest gestoßen.
Mario Roman von Sherco Factory Racing stürzte früh und viel im Feld weit zurück. Dank seiner heldenhaften Angriffe kämpfte er sich in der ersten Runde durch das Fahrerfeld und sorgte für einen heftigen Dreikampf um die Führung. Roman drückte mächtig aufs Tempo, aber die Zeit würde zeigen, ob sich diese frühe Anstrengung in Runde eins bei brutaler Hitze auszahlen wird.
Nach zwei Runden hatte sich der Zug an der Spitze mit Lettenbichler, Bolt und Roman gefestigt. Doch der lokale Held Trystan Hart, der mit einem schlechten Start zu kämpfen hatte legte den Turbo ein und näherte sich allmählich dem Trio. Der Kanadier war auf heimischem Boden hungrig nach einem Podiumsplatz und war bereit, in der letzten Runde noch einmal alles zu geben.
Lettenbichler behielt jedoch die vollständige Kontrolle über das Rennen und wehrte die Angriffe von Bolt und Roman ab. Trotz eines Sturzes am vorletzten Anstieg, bei dem sein Lenker beschädigt wurde behielt der Deutsche einen kühlen Kopf und überquerte als Sieger die Ziellinie. Damit holte er sich den vierten Sieg in Folge in dieser Saison – was für eine unbarmherzige Dominanz des Deutschen!
Da Billy den Anschluss an Lettenbichler verlor, war er nicht in der Lage, den letzten Kampf um den Sieg zu führen. Da Roman bei den letzten Anstiegen selbst einen Fehler machte, konnte sich Billy mit einem wohlverdienten zweiten Platz zufrieden geben.

Während es danach aussah, dass Mario Roman den dritten Platz sicher hatte, sorgte ein Sturz für die notwendige Chance, die der Kanadier Trystan Hart brauchte, um sich den letzten Podiumsplatz doch noch zu holen. Der Spanier Mario Roman rutschte damit auf den vierten Platz ab und kam nur sieben Sekunden hinter Hart ins Ziel.
Wade Young (Sherco) überquerte die Ziellinie mit mehr als 12 Minuten Rückstand auf die ersten vier und komplettierte die Top fünf, während der ECONT-Bulgare Teodor Kabakchiev den sechsten Platz belegte. Eine solide Fahrt von Matthew Green von Rigo Racing brachte ihm den siebten Platz ein.
Nach einem aufregenden Stopp in Kanada reist die FIM Hardenduro Weltmeisterschaft vom 12. bis 15. Oktober nach Spanien und das 24MX Hixpania Hardenduro zu absolvieren.
Manuel Lettenbichler (KTM): „Ich bin sprachlos, vier Siege in Folge sind unglaublich. Bei diesem Kurs und dieser Hitze wusste ich, dass es heute hart werden würde. Ich habe mich darauf konzentriert jeden Anstieg so gut wie möglich zu meistern und so Energie zu sparen. Beim vorletzten Anstieg verbog ich den Lenker, schafften es aber über die Ziellinie zu kommen. Was für ein Tag!“
Billy Bolt (Husqvarna): „Ich hatte einen guten Start mit Mani und wir sind schon früh zusammen gefahren. In der letzten Runde machte ich einen großen Fehler, der es Mario ermöglichte aufzuschließen, aber ich schaffte es, mich zu erholen und mir vor dem letzten großen Abschnitt etwas Luft zum Atmen zu verschaffen. Dort bin ich Mani in die Quere gekommen, hatte aber zu viel Druck gemacht und dadurch am Ende einfach keine Körner mehr, um Manni gefährlich werden zu können.“
Trystan Hart (KTM): „Ich hatte schon früh das Gefühl, dass ich schlecht gefahren bin und die Hügel nicht so gut bewältigt habe wie die anderen Jungs. In der letzten Runde kam ich in einen besseren Flow, drehte dadurch nochmal auf und wurde Dritter. Ich bin begeistert von meinem Podiumsergebnis auf heimischem Boden.“
Mario Roman (Sherco): „Ich bin ein bisschen enttäuscht, dass ich am Ende das Podium verloren habe. Der Start war etwas verrückt und ich hatte einen Sturz und verlor viele Plätze. Aber in der ersten Runde fuhr ich hart und erholte mich gut, um ans Heck von Billy und Mani zu gelangen. Ich bin die meiste Zeit des Rennens mit Billy gefahren, aber im letzten Abschnitt habe ich einen Fehler gemacht und den Podiumsplatz gegen Trystan verloren.“

This time the hard enduro world elite headed to Canada after brutally acclimatizing to the humid North American continent at the Red Bull Tennessee Knockout a few days earlier.
Bolt is always a contender when it comes to the prologue. He was able to win both his heat and the semifinals in a superior manner. Beta’s Jonny Walker bested Lettenbichler to win heat two, while Ryder Leblond (Husqvarna) won heat three.
While Bolt won ahead of Walker and Leblond in the first semi-final, it was Lettenbichler who was the fastest in the second semi-final. With Hart second and Gomez third behind the German, the stage was set for an action-packed finale in the shadow of Calgary’s skyscrapers.
Action-packed winner-takes-all finale
From the start, the big favorites fought with knives between their teeth for a place in the final. Some a little too hard. A fall threw Billy Bolt back, creating difficult conditions and extra work for him. Meanwhile, with a little less stress, Lettenbichler came out on top and began targeting his first prologue win of the season.
With nine clear rounds, Letti was convincing, but still had to fend off the ultra-fast approaching Billy Bolt in order to secure victory and three important additional championship points. Billy Bolt commented on his fall that he went a little too briskly on the slippery concrete, but showed a top performance with his race to catch up.
Local hero Trystan Hart also missed his chance for a prologue victory with an unplanned fall. The Canadian fought his way through the field and made up ground on Lettenbichler, until another fall on the tires slowed him down again, which was ultimately enough for third place – what a fight.
With an impressive ride, Leblond saw his Husqvarna finish fourth while Gomez completed the top five.
Manuel Lettenbichler (KTM): “I’m thrilled, it’s the first time I’ve won a prologue! I had a clean run and tried not to make any mistakes, which paid off. Let’s see what the Badlands finale brings.‘
Billy Bolt (Husqvarna): “I had a stupid crash that was my own fault. I pushed a little too hard too early and paid the price for it. I was happy to get past Trystan at the end and still be second.”

THE BADLANDS – the big final
While it looked like Mario Roman had secured third place, a crash gave Canadian Trystan Hart the chance he needed to clinch the final podium spot. Spaniard Mario Roman slipped to fourth place, just seven seconds behind Hart.
Wade Young (Sherco) crossed the finish line more than 12 minutes behind the top four and completed the top five while ECONT’s Bulgarian Teodor Kabakchiev was sixth. A solid drive from Rigo Racing’s Matthew Green earned him seventh place.
After an exciting stop in Canada, the FIM Hardenduro World Championship travels to Spain from October 12th to 15th and the 24MX Hixpania Hardenduro to complete.

I concentrated on mastering every climb as well as possible to save energy. On the penultimate climb I bent the handlebars but managed to get across the finish line. What a day!‘
Billy Bolt (Husqvarna): “I got off to a good start with Mani and we rode together early on. On the last lap I made a big mistake that allowed Mario to catch up, but I managed to recover and get some breathing room before the last big section. There I got in Mani’s way, but I had put too much pressure on it and in the end I simply didn’t have enough seeds to be able to pose a threat to Manni.‘
Trystan Hart (KTM): “Early on I felt like I was riding badly and not handling the hills as well as the other guys. In the last lap I got into a better flow, turned it up again and finished third. I am thrilled with my podium finish on home soil.”
Mario Roman (Sherco): “I’m a bit disappointed that I ended up losing the podium. The start was a bit crazy and I crashed and lost a lot of places. But on the first lap I rode hard and recovered well to get to the back of Billy and Mani. I rode with Billy for most of the race but made a mistake in the final section and lost the podium to Trystan.”
