Beim vierten Lauf zur FIM Hard Enduro Weltmeisterschaft gab es im legendären Steinbruch diverse Unklarheiten über das Befahren des X-Loops und damit eine fragwürdige oder besser gesagt diskutable Titelentscheidung über den Sieger der Hixpania 2025.
Doch zunächst zurück auf Anfang. Nachdem Billy Bolt mit einer enorm starken fahrerischen Leistung die Qualifikation am Samstag gewonnen hatte, war klar, dass Manuel Lettenbichler für den Sonntag den Höhenflug von Billy eindämmen musste. Wie aber mittlerweile bekannt, fühlte sich Manuel nicht wirklich fit und konnte laut seiner eigenen Aussage nicht wie gewünscht seine 100 Prozent im Finale abrufen. Doch wie kam es zu dem Titelchaos?
Gestartet wurde wie üblich aus der legendären Versturzhöhle, die Billy zusammen mit Mitch Brightmore als erstes verließen gefolgt von Manuel Lettenbichler und dem Rest des Feldes. Mitch hatte einen kleinen Sturz, so dass die übliche Reihenfolge wieder hergestellt war. Billy und Manni kämpften bis aufs Messer und wechselten die Führungsposition gefühlt 100 Mal während des zweistündigen Rennens. Zum Schluss flog Billy im Zielhang zuerst durch das Ziel, gefolgt von Manuel Lettenbichler und Mario Roman.
Doch damit bildeten sie nicht zeitgleich auch das Siegerpodest. Warum? Es ging um den X-Loop, den der Veranstalter eingebaut hatte, um das Rennen für das Fernsehen und die Zuschauer nochmal zu verschärfen. Doch in einem Fahrer-Meeting stellten die Teilnehmer gegenüber dem Veranstalter und der FIM sowie dem Organisator der Hardenduro WM klar, dass das einfach zu extrem war und eher einer Trial-Sektion anstelle von Hard Enduro glich.
Die Fahrer trafen gemeinsam die Entscheidung, das Rennen vor dem Start des X-Loops zu beenden, Billy traf als Erster mit 20 Sekunden Vorsprung auf Mani ein, während Roman mit etwa 15 Minuten Rückstand als Dritter ankam. Nachdem die Top-Fahrer den Start der X-Loop-Runde erreicht hatten, fuhren sie den finalen Hixpania-Hill gemeinsam für die Fans, aber nicht für das Rennen.
Dann kam der alte Hase Graham Jarvis zusammen mit Sonny Goggia, die beide von hinten nach vorn herangestürmt kamen. Beide absolvierten die volle markierte Strecke und wurden zum „offiziellen“ Sieger und Zweitplatzierten erklärt. Damit wurde Bolt mit einem Vorsprung von einer Stunde Dritter, Mani Vierter und Mario Roman Fünfter.
Was man davon halten soll oder kann, darf jeder für sich entscheiden. Allerdings wirft es kein gutes Licht auf die Weltmeisterschaft, auch wenn es Billy und Mani in der WM-Wertung keinen Nachteil einbrachte. Denn Sonny und Graham fahren nicht in der WM.
Graham Jarvis: „Niemand hat vorher mit mir darüber gesprochen und als sie mir am Ende des Steinbruchs sagten, wenn du diesen letzten Hügel fährst, bist du der Gewinner, bin ich einfach die Strecke gefahren und habe meinen Job gemacht. Mir ist das letztendlich egal, denn ich habe gewonnen.“
Billy Bolt: „Das Rennen war ziemlich gut. Am Ende war es trockener als wir erwartet hatten, das hat es ein bisschen einfacher gemacht und hat es zwischen mir und Mani wirklich zu einem engen Fight werden lassen. Der größte Rückstand zwischen uns beiden über das gesamte Rennen betrug wahrscheinlich 20 Sekunden und es war schwierig zu überholen, aber sehr leicht einen Fehler zu machen und überholt zu werden. Vielleicht haben wir im Rennen bis zu 15 Überholmanöver durchgeführt. Ich war sehr zufrieden mit dem Ergebnis und der Art und Weise wie ich gefahren bin, meinem Motorrad und meiner körperlichen Verfassung. Es ist einfach schön, etwas Schwung zu haben und Woche für Woche und Rennen für Rennen aufzubauen, um mein Niveau zu erhöhen. Wir haben am Start entschieden, dass wir den X-Loop nicht fahren wollen. Wir hatten am Freitag nur ein paar Stunden Zeit, um die Strecke abzulaufen. Als wir aber am Sonntag morgen an den Aufstieg ankamen, gab es einen zusätzliches Steilstück, das noch niemand gelaufen war und das auch ziemlich gefährlich war. Sicher war die Strecke, die sie markiert haben, fahrbar, am Ende sind wir sie dann auch zusammen gefahren. Aber wir haben sie gebeten, ein paar Änderungen vorzunehmen, denn nach zwei Stunden Rennen müssen wir nicht mehr so viel Risiko eingehen. Ok, ein Finish den Hügel hinauf oder so etwas ist schön für die Zuschauer, aber so eine Besonderheit einzubauen, wie es die Orga getan hat, gibt uns als Fahrer wirklich das Gefühl, dass es ein Limit gibt. Es war keine leichte Entscheidung und niemand will es wirklich aus der Sicht der Fans tun, wir alle schätzen die Fans und die Organisation, die ein großartiges Event wie dieses möglich macht. Es ist nichts Persönliches gegen sie oder das Rennen, aber ich habe das Gefühl, dass wir als Fahrer zusammenhalten müssen. Es war eine sehr seltsame Situation und es ist keine schöne Angelegenheit, aber die Tatsache, dass alle Fahrer zusammengehalten haben, ist ein positiver Schritt, auf dem wir hoffentlich aufbauen können. Es sollte ein Rennen sein, bei dem man mit einem Motorrad Rennen fährt.“
Manuel Lettenbichler: „Es war ein gutes Rennen. Ich überholte Mitch ziemlich früh und von da an war es ein wirklich guter Kampf mit Billy. Ich glaube wir haben im Laufe des Rennens 10 oder 12 Mal die Führung gewechselt. Ich denke, es gab Abschnitte, in denen ich ein bisschen besser war und andere, in denen er besser war. Aber am Ende hat er einen kleinen Vorsprung herausgefahren und es ist, wie es ist, wir können es nicht ändern. Ich habe mich nicht so stark gefühlt, aber er hat sich stark verbessert und ich würde sagen, dass wir jetzt auf dem gleichen Niveau sind. Am Ende ist es ein Rennen und derjenige, der als Erster die Zielflagge sieht, ist der Sieger. Ich bin begeistert davon und freue mich über den zweiten Platz. Da jeder von mir erwartet, dass ich gewinne, ist es schön, ein wenig Druck abzubauen. Was den letzten Abschnitt betrifft, so haben wir gesagt, dass wir vor dem Rennen einen Teil der Strecke ändern wollen und die Organisatoren wollten nicht zuhören. Wir, als Fahrerverband, sollten in diesen Dingen zusammenhalten. Es tut mir leid für den Organisator, aber am Ende war er der einzige, der nicht zugehört hat. Ich glaube, er hat am Ende etwas verändert, aber es war zu spät. Manchmal brauchen Fahrer mehr Respekt und müssen sicherstellen, dass der Sport nicht in die falsche Richtung geht. Es muss trotzdem fahrbar sein und man sollte das Motorrad nicht herumschieben müssen… Selbst für das Live-TV sieht es scheiße aus, wenn wir die Bikes nur herumschieben. Es kann immer noch ein hartes Enduro-Rennen sein, aber es sollte ein Rennen sein, bei dem man mit einem Motorrad Rennen fährt.“
Gleich Meinung teilte auch Mario Roman, als Local Hero. Der ehemalige Hixpania-Sieger nahm sich Zeit, um ins Rennen zu kommen. Aber er sagte, er sei im Ziel angekommen und habe neben Billy und Mani angehalten, um Solidarität zu zeigen, nachdem der Veranstalter keine Änderungen vornehmen wollte.

At the fourth round of the FIM Hard Enduro World Championship in the legendary quarry, there were various uncertainties about riding the X-Loop and thus a questionable or rather debatable title decision about the winner of the Hixpania 2025.
But first back to the beginning. After Billy Bolt had won the qualification on Saturday with an enormously strong driving performance, it was clear that Manuel Lettenbichler had to curb Billy“s flight of fancy for Sunday. But as is now known, Manuel did not really feel fit and, according to his own statement, could not call up his 100 percent in the final as desired.\u00A0But how did the title chaos come about?
As usual, the start was from the legendary collapse cave, which Billy together with Mitch Brightmore left first, followed by Manuel Lettenbichler and the rest of the field. Mitch had a small fall, so the usual order was restored. Billy and Manni fought to the knife and changed the lead position 100 times during the two-hour race. In the end, Billy flew through the finish line first, followed by Manuel Lettenbichler and Mario Roman.
But they did not also form the winner“s podium at the same time.\u00A0Why? It was about the X-Loop, which the organizer had built in to make the race even more difficult for television and viewers. But in a riders“ meeting, the participants made it clear to the organizer and the FIM as well as the organizer of the Hardenduro World Championship that this was simply too extreme and was more like a trial section instead of Hard Enduro.
The riders collectively made the decision to finish the race before the start of the X-Loop, Billy arrived first with a 20-second lead over Mani, while Roman arrived in third, about 15 minutes behind. After the top riders reached the start of the X-Loop lap, they rode the final Hixpania Hill together for the fans, but not for the race.
Then came the old hand Graham Jarvis together with Sonny Goggia, who both came rushing in from the back to the front. Both completed the full marked course and were declared the „official“ winner and runner-up. Bolt finished third with a lead of one hour, Mani fourth and Mario Roman fifth.
What one should or can think of it, everyone can decide for themselves. However, it does not cast a good light on the World Championship, even if it did not put Billy and Mani at a disadvantage in the World Championship standings. Because Sonny and Graham are not racing in the World Championship.
Graham Jarvis: „Nobody talked to me about it before and when they told me at the end of the quarry that if you do that last hill you are the winner, I just rode the track and did my job. In the end, I don“t care, because I won.“
Billy Bolt: „The race was pretty good. In the end it was drier than we expected, which made it a bit easier and really made it a close fight between me and Mani. The biggest gap between the two of us over the entire race was probably 20 seconds and it was difficult to overtake, but very easy to make a mistake and get overtaken. Maybe we made up to 15 overtaking manoeuvres in the race. I was very happy with the result and the way I rode, my bike and my physical condition. It“s just nice to have some momentum and build up week after week and race after race to raise my level. We decided at the start that we didn“t want to ride the X-Loop. We only had a few hours on Friday to walk the course. But when we arrived at the ascent on Sunday morning, there was an additional steep section that no one had run before and that was also quite dangerous. Of course, the route they marked was rideable, in the end we rode it together. But we asked them to make a few changes, because after two hours of racing we don“t have to take so much risk anymore. Ok, a finish up the hill or something like that is nice for the spectators, but to include such a special feature as the organizers did really gives us as riders the feeling that there is a limit. It wasn“t an easy decision and no one really wants to do it from the fans“ point of view, we all appreciate the fans and the organization that makes a great event like this possible. It“s nothing personal against them or the race, but I feel like we have to stick together as drivers. It was a very strange situation and it“s not a nice thing, but the fact that all the riders stuck together is a positive step that we can hopefully build on. It should be a race where you race a motorcycle.“
Manuel Lettenbichler: „It was a good race. I passed Mitch pretty early and from then on it was a really good battle with Billy. I think we changed the lead 10 or 12 times during the race. I think there were sections where I was a little bit better and others where he was better. But in the end he pulled out a small lead and it is what it is, we can“t change it. I didn“t feel that strong, but he improved a lot and I would say we“re at the same level now. In the end, it“s a race and whoever sees the chequered flag first is the winner. I“m thrilled about it and happy about second place. Since everyone expects me to win, it“s nice to relieve a little bit of pressure. As for the last section, we said that we wanted to change part of the track before the race and the organizers didn“t want to listen. We, as a drivers“ association, should stick together in these matters. I“m sorry for the organizer, but in the end he was the only one who didn“t listen. I think he changed something in the end, but it was too late. Sometimes riders need more respect and need to make sure the sport isn“t going in the wrong direction. It still has to be rideable and you shouldn“t have to push the bike around… Even for live TV, it looks like shit if we just push the bikes around. It can still be a tough enduro race, but it should be a race where you race a motorcycle.“
Mario Roman, as a local hero, also shared the same opinion. The former Hixpania winner took his time to get into the race. But he said he arrived at the finish line and stopped next to Billy and Mani to show solidarity after the organizer didn“t want to make any changes.
