After a welcomed summer break, the Paulo Duarte FIM EnduroGP World Championship gets back to business for round four in what’s promising to be an exciting weekend of racing in Wales this weekend, 1-3 August.

Returning to the FIM EnduroGP calendar in 2024 following a 15-year absence, the Forsiteservices GP of Wales instantly proved a highlight for riders, teams and spectators. The Rhayader & District MC & LCC event organisers delivered a spectacle of racing. Traditional Welsh enduro terrain, challenging special tests and a weekend-long festival atmosphere ensured everyone was eager to return for 2025.

Maintaining a similar event schedule to 2024, the spectacular Cwmythig Hill will again act as the central hub for the majority of the action, hosting the race paddock, Friday evening AKRAPOVIC Super Test and ACERBIS Cross Test. Leaving the start ramp in Cwmythig Hill, riders face a 66-kilometre course, which immediately includes the ACERBIS Cross Test before navigating the Welsh mountains to the GMOTO Enduro Test and POLISPORT Extreme Test at nearby Saintswell. A liaison back to Cwmythig Hill completes the challenging lap.

Garcia leads the EnduroGP charge to Wales

At the head of the EnduroGP class is defending champion Red Bull KTM Factory Racing’s Josep Garcia who leads the way. The Spaniard has secured a race win at each round held so far and has never faltered from the podium to open up a 14-point lead over his classmates. However, Garcia has been pushed all the way, and each victory has been hard-fought. With four rounds still remaining in this championship fight, Garcia knows there’s lots to play for in Wales.

Holding second overall, GASGAS Factory Racing’s Andrea Verona will be aiming to strike in Rhayader. The Italian will be hoping the fast and flowing ACERBIS Cross Test will favour his 450 four-stroke and help him to reach the top step of the podium.

Just four points behind Verona, TM MOTO Boano Factory Enduro Team’s Zach Pichon lies third overall. The Frenchman has been incredible to watch in 2025. From claiming his debut victory at round one to backing that up with a win at the highly technical Polisport GP of Sweden, he’s showing that he’s a serious title contender this year.

Holding fourth, Sherco Racing Factory’s Hamish Macdonald will be pushing to challenge the top three riders. The New Zealander secured a debut podium last time out in Sweden and will want to be in the fight for the top placings again.

Sherco Racing Factory’s Antoine Magain is another rider enjoying a strong season. The Belgian completes the top five. Triumph Factory Racing Enduro Team’s Mikael Persson enjoyed a great home round in Sweden by claiming a pair of fifth-place finishes. With the Forsiteservices GP of Wales acting as a home round for his team and having spent a lot of time competing in Britain, Persson will be a rider to watch in Rhayader.

So too will Beta Factory Enduro Team’s Nathan Watson. The British rider knows the terrain of Cwmythig Hill very well, and with a wealth of home support, could be a contender for the podium this weekend.

Factoring in Honda Racing RedMoto Enduro Team’s Samuele Bernardini, Triumph Italia Racing’s Morgan Lesiardo, Fantic Factory Racing Team’s Albin Norrbin and Jed Etchells, Triumph Factory Racing Enduro Team’s Jamie McCanney and wildcard entry United States’s Josh Toth (Kawasaki) ensures a deep pool of talent competing in Wales.

In the Enduro1 class, Garcia leads having remained unbeaten so far in 2025. Bernardini and Persson are tied on points for second and third, respectively, with Lesiardo and McCanney close behind.

Pichon and Verona are locked in a title fight for Enduro2 honours. Pichon holds a two-point advantage over Verona entering Wales. Watson completes the top three, with Norrbin and Theo Espinasse (Sherco) fourth and fifth, respectively.

Macdonald has stretched his lead in the Enduro3 category to 12 points ahead of round four. Magain lies second, with Leo Le Quere (TM MOTO) third. Julien Roussaly (Sherco) and Matteo Pavoni (Fantic) complete the top five.

Expotrade Women’s Enduro battles set to resume

The Expotrade FIM Women’s Enduro World Championship returns to action at the Forsiteservices GP of Wales for their second round of the 2025 season. Claiming a double victory in Portugal, HRC Honda’s Francesca Nocera made it a dream start to her campaign. However, she will face a strong field of competition in Wales.

RIEJU Factory Team’s Rachel Gutish was second both days at round one and will look to challenge Nocera for the top step of the podium this weekend. Team KBS Sherco’s Nieve Holmes raced her way to a pair of third-place results in Portugal. Welcoming a home round, Holmes will be eager to strengthen her position on Welsh soil.

Lying fourth overall, RIEJU Factory Team’s Rosie Rowett is another rider excited for her home round in Wales. The British rider secured a podium result at the Forsiteservices GP of Wales in 2024 and will use that as motivation to finish inside the top three in Rhayader.

In Portugal, we saw France’s Marine Lemoine (KTM) complete the top five in the Expotrade FIM Women’s Enduro World Championship standings with two sixth-place finishes. In the newly introduced Expotrade FIM Junior Women’s Enduro World Cup, Electraction TM’s Elizabeth Tett stamped her authority on proceedings at round one.

Behind her, it was France’s Lorna Lafont (Sherco) and Matilda Ahlstrom (Husqvarna) who joined her on the podium in second and third, respectively. Just missing out in Portugal, Welsh rider Delun Davies (Fantic) would love to finish inside the top three at her home race.

Semb starts as rider to beat in Junior Enduro

In the Junior Enduro class, Fantic Factory Racing Team’s Axel Semb is establishing himself as the rider to beat. A perfect scorecard at rounds two and three saw the young Swede secure four race wins. In Rhayader, he will be focused on keeping that win streak alive.

Ox Moto Beta’s Leo Joyon heads a tight three-rider battle for the next podium placings. Joyon is just four points ahead of third-placed Fantic Factory Racing Enduro Team Specia’s Kevin Cristino, with MGR Kawasaki’s Kyron Bacon one point behind in fourth.

Sitting fifth and sixth, respectively, Thibault Giraudon (Sherco) and TM MOTO Boano Factory Enduro Team’s Manuel Verzeroli have both finished on the podium in 2025 and will naturally be in the mix for silverware this weekend.

Australia’s Angus Riordan (KTM) will be another wildcard entry to watch in Wales. In 2024, he won the AKRAPOVIC Super Test outright in what proved to be a sensational performance. He then won the opening day of the Junior Enduro class before finishing as runner-up on day two.

Elgari heads Youth Enduro title fight

The fight for the FIM Youth Enduro World Championship has developed into a super-competitive three-rider battle, with just four points separating first and third. TM MOTO Boano Factory Enduro Team’s Alberto Elgari took over the points lead at the Polisport GP of Sweden and will hope to maintain that this weekend.

However, Fantic Factory Racing Enduro Team Specia’s Pietro Scardina and Team KTM Pro Racing Sport’s Romain Dagna will be determined to not let that happen. With all three riders having locked out the podium at each race day so far, it will be exciting to see who comes out on top this weekend.

The Paulo Duarte FIM EnduroGP World Championship continues with the Forsiteservices GP of Wales in Rhayader on 1-3 August.
