ULTRA4 Europe „King of Portugal“ wurde von den örtlichen Behörden abgesagt. Für die ganze Region um das Örtchen Vimioso und der aktuellen King of Portugal Strecke wurde die höchste Waldbrandstufe ausgerufen, was eine Durchführung des Events verhinderte. Durch die sehr starken Winde war die Gefahr für einen verheerenden Waldbrand inklusive Gefährdung von Bewohnern und Gebäuden einfach zu hoch, so dass die Genehmigung seitens der Behörden kurzfristig und zu Recht zurückgezogen wurde.
Für die Teams wurde dennoch eine recht beachtliche Show in Form eines Liveband-Auftritts und Gegrilltes abgehalten – das ist Sports- und Teamgeist in Reinkultur – tolle Organisation!
Einige Stimmen vermuten dahinter auch eine politische Abneigung gegen dies Veranstaltung was bislang jedoch nur der brodelnden Gerüchteküche entsprungen ist. Betrachtet man die Lage vor Ort realistisch, so ist die Absage auf Grund der bekannten Informationen mehr als berechtigt und ratsam gewesen.
Natürlich erhalten alle Teams, die die lange Anreise aus Deutschland, England, Italien oder beispielsweise den USA auf sich genommen haben ihre Startgebühren zurück. Außerdem wird kein Startgeld für die Teilnehmer beim „King of Poland“ erhoben, die bereits beim „King of Portugal“ eingeschrieben waren.
Das 4×4 Norte Team wird die Rückerstattung der Startgebühren durchführen!
Original ULTRA4 Europe information about cancellation of „KINO OF PORTUGAL 2019“
The provincial government for the area surrounding Vimioso and the KOP track informed Norte4x4 the team that have been organizing the race, that the area was under a condition red. Big forest fires and very strong winds are the reason for this.
During this condition all activities outside of built up areas are cancelled. This means that the race permit from the government has been rescinded and Norte4x4 are having to cancel the race.
We advise all teams that are very close to Vimioso and all those that are here to keep reporting to the registration desk for up to date news from Norte4x4.
We know a lot of teams have travelled a long way to be here and have set return travel schedules.
As such the stadium will remain open for all teams and will close as planned on Sunday. This allows everyone to stay in the area if they so wish.
Unfortunately weather conditions that are referred to in this case as acts of god cannot be predicted.
It is with great sadness that we have to inform you of the news.
All teams will be refunded their race entry fees. Again this will be handled by Norte4x4.
Additional: All teams who will race „King of Poland“ and have been registered for „King of Portugal“ get an free entry for the FINAL of the Ultra4 Europe championship 2019!
