Satte 79 PS aus knapp 700 Kubikzentimetern Hubraum ist eine echte Ansage. Waren doch schon die 75 PS vom Vorgängermodell fahrerisch bemerkenswert. Kombiniert man das mit einem Drehmoment von 73 Newtonmetern und einem Gewicht von nur 162 kg, dann kann man es Onroad als auch Offroad richtig fliegen lassen. Deshalb bietet KTM seit Jahren äußerst erfolgreich die 690er Enduro R und 690er Supermoto SMC R an, die zum absoluten Kassenschlager wurden. Denn bislang gab es keine Konkurrenz in diesem Segment, außer natürlich die neu hinzu gekommene Ducati 698, die es bislang nur als Supermoto zu kaufen gibt.
Zur Erinnerung, knapp 80 PS laut Hersteller-Datenblatt waren vor Jahren für eine derartigen Einzylinder ein absoluter Wunschtraum. Jetzt ist es Wirklichkeit und dass das Konzept bestens funktioniert, beweisen die Verkaufszahlen und die zufrieden Gesichter vor allem in der Heizerfraktion der Supermoto-Fahrer. Denn gegen dieses handliche Powerhouse ist auf angestammten Terrain kein Kraut gewachsen.

A whopping 79 hp from just under 700 cubic centimeters of displacement is a real statement. After all, the 75 hp of the previous model were already remarkable in terms of driving. If you combine this with a torque of 73 Newton meters and a weight of only 162 kg, then you can really let it fly on-road as well as off-road. That“s why KTM has been offering the 690cc Enduro R and 690cc Supermoto SMC R extremely successfully for years, which have become absolute blockbusters. Because so far there has been no competition in this segment, except, of course, the newly added Ducati 698, which has so far only been available as a supermoto.
As a reminder, just under 80 hp according to the manufacturer’s data sheet was an absolute dream for such a single-cylinder years ago. Now it is reality and the fact that the concept works perfectly is proven by the sales figures and the satisfied faces, especially in the stoker fraction of the Supermoto riders. Because there is no herb against this handy powerhouse on traditional terrain.
