49 Jahre und noch kein bisschen müde. Hardenduro-Legende Graham Jarvis zeigt den Jungen wo der Hammer hängt und holt sich am zweiten Tag im serbischen Gebirge den Tagessieg – was für eine Leistung! Es war ein aufregender vorletzter Renntag beim dritten Lauf der FIM Hardenduro-Weltmeisterschaft im serbischen Zlatibor. Denn es war mal wieder ein verdammt langer Tag mit einem ordentlichen Arbeitsauftrag für die Teilnehmer.
Teodor Kabakchiev von Sherco Factory Racing gab sich alle Mühe, die gestrige verlorene Zeit aufzuholen. Das gelang ihm ganz gut, denn er lag nur 21 Sekunden hinter dem Südafrikaner. Graham Jarvis von Jarvis Racing war ein weiterer Fahrer, der auf eiern Mission war. Trotz seiner späten Startzeit auf Grund des Ergebnisses vom ersten Fahrtag (P16), nutzte die Hardenduro-Legende all seine Erfahrung und belegte zur Rennhälfte bereits den dritten Platz. Und da sollte noch mehr kommen…
Da es in der zweiten Tageshälfte vermehrt technisch schwierige Abschnitte gab, konnte Jarvis eine wahre Meisterleistung vollbringen und seine Rivalen allesamt überholen, so dass er den Tagessieg holte. Für Young schwanden in den letzten Abschnitten die Hoffnungen auf einen zweiten Tagessieg. Er musste sich am zweiten Tag mit einem Rückstand von 19 Sekunden auf Graham Jarvis mit Platz zwei genügen. Jedoch braute der Südafrikaner dadurch seinen Vorsprung für das heutige Finale auf beachtliche neun Minuten und 24 Sekunden aus.
Kabakchiev verlor gegen Ende des Tages Zeit sowohl gegen Jarvis als auch Young und beendete den zweiten Fahrtag als Dritter. Doch der Bulgare setzte sich immer noch gegen Michael Walkner (GASGAS) durch, der Vierter wurde. Der Sherco-Fahrer überholte den Österreicher als Zweiter in der Gesamtwertung und hat nun einen fünfminütigen Vorsprung auf Walkner.
Moore an der Spitze im Kampf um die Junior-Wertung
James Moore von Rigo Racing beeindruckt in Serbien: Der junge Südafrikaner stürmte schnell und mit einem harten Fahrstil nach vorn an die Spitze und fühlt sich in dem heißen und anspruchsvollen Gelände offensichtlich wie zu Hause. Mit einem fünften Platz in der Gesamtwertung führt er nun die FIM Hardenduro Junior World Championship an.
Der Kampf um das oberste Treppchen auf dem Podiums wird jedoch am Finaltag bis zum Schluss andauern, denn Moore wird sich unweigerlich einen Dreikampf mit Suff Sella von AG Racing und Mitch Brightmore von TTR Squadra Corse liefern.
Der Israeli Sella belegte heute den sechsten Gesamtrang und war Zweitschnellster bei den Junioren. Mitch Brightmore beendete seinen Tag auf dem zehnten Gesamtrang und rutschte in der Junior-Kategorie vom ersten auf den dritten Platz ab. Da Moore nun mit zwei Minuten vor Sella und Brightmore und mit vier Minuten Vorsprung vor Sella liegt, wird es noch ein spannendes Finish geben.

49 years old and not the least bit tired. Hardenduro legend Graham Jarvis shows the boys where it’s at and takes the day’s victory on the second day in the Serbian mountains – what an achievement! It was an exciting penultimate day of racing at the third round of the FIM Hard Enduro World Championship in Zlatibor, Serbia. Because it was once again a damn long day with a lot of work for the participants.
Sherco Factory Racing’s Teodor Kabakchiev did his best to make up for lost time from yesterday. He managed that quite well, as he was only 21 seconds behind the South African. Graham Jarvis of Jarvis Racing was another driver on a mission. Despite his late start time due to the result from the first day of driving (P16), the hard enduro legend used all his experience and was already in third place by the halfway point of the race. And there was more to come…
As there were more technically difficult sections in the second half of the day, Jarvis was able to achieve a true masterpiece and overtake all of his rivals to take the day’s victory. Young’s hopes of a second win of the day dwindled in the final stages. He had to settle for second place on the second day, 19 seconds behind Graham Jarvis. However, the South African increased his lead for today’s final to an impressive nine minutes and 24 seconds.
Kabakchiev lost time to both Jarvis and Young towards the end of the day and ended the second day of riding in third place. But the Bulgarian still beat Michael Walkner (GASGAS), who came fourth. The Sherco driver overtook the Austrian for second overall and now has a five-minute lead over Walkner.
Moore at the top in the fight for the junior classification
Rigo Racing’s James Moore impresses in Serbia: The young South African stormed to the front quickly and with a hard riding style and clearly feels at home in the hot and demanding terrain. With a fifth place overall, he now leads the FIM Hardenduro Junior World Championship.
However, the fight for the top spot on the podium will last until the end on the final day, as Moore will inevitably have a three-way battle with AG Racing’s Suff Sella and TTR Squadra Corse’s Mitch Brightmore.
Israeli Sella finished sixth overall today and was second fastest in the juniors. Mitch Brightmore ended his day in tenth place overall, slipping from first to third place in the junior category. With Moore now two minutes ahead of Sella and Brightmore and four minutes ahead of Sella, there will be another exciting finish.
