Unsere Kollegen aus den USA haben sich zusammen mit Johny Weisman an ein einzigartiges Projekt in Form der Dark Knight KTM 500 herangewagt. Dieses Projekt kombiniert die brandneue KTM-Technologie mit der Kawasaki-Zweitakttechnologie der alten Schule und einer Reihe von Zubehörteilen aus dem Aftermarket-Segment. Das Dark Knight-Projekt wurde von Johny Weisman entwickelt. Auf den ersten Blick fällt euch das verdunkelte Zweitaktkraftwerk aus der Kawasaki KX500 möglicherweise nicht auf, das hier in ein 2020 KTM-Chassis implantiert wurde.
Man hat mit branchenführenden Unternehmen wie Dubya USA, Boyesen, Dunlop, TM Designworks, P3 Carbon und vielen anderen zusammengearbeitet, um diesen Build zu realisieren. Sowohl die Gabel als auch der Dämpfer erhielten eine goldene DLC-Beschichtung und vorne während man vorn auf eine KYB-Gabel setzt. Ja, und ihr habt richtig gehört, das es sich um ein Kawasaki KX500-Herzstück handelt mit einem abnehmbaren Kupplungsdeckel. Diese Besonderheiten hatten damals nur die Werksbikes von Kawasaki und Johny ist zufällig auch Destry Abbott’s ehemaliger Mechaniker. Man sieht viele beschichtete Motorteile, bis hin zum einmaligen dunklen Keihin Vergaser. Schaut euch auch die goldfarbenen und DLC-beschichtete Kolbenstange am Stoßdämpfer an. Noch ist Johny nicht fertig mit allen technischen Veränderungen im Herzen des KX500er Motors. Doch das Video bringt einen unweigerlich auf den Geschmack…
Our colleagues from the USA, together with Johny Weisman, ventured into a unique project in the form of the Dark Knight KTM 500. This project combines the brand new KTM technology with the old school Kawasaki two-stroke technology and a range of accessories from the aftermarket segment. The Dark Knight project was developed by Johny Weisman. At first glance, you may not notice the darkened two-stroke power plant from the Kawasaki KX500, which was implanted here in a 2020 KTM chassis.
They worked with industry leaders like Dubya USA, Boyesen, Dunlop, TM Designworks, P3 Carbon and many others to make this build a reality. Both the fork and the damper received a gold DLC coating and the front has now a KYB fork. Yes, and you heard right, it is a Kawasaki KX500 plant with a removable clutch cover. At that time only the factory bikes from Kawasaki had these peculiarities and Johny happens to be Destry Abbott’s former mechanic. You can see many coated engine parts, right up to the unique dark Keihin carburetor. Also take a look at the gold-colored and DLC-coated piston rod on the shock absorber.
