Aufgrund der anhaltenden Coronavirus-Situation hat Yamaha Motor Europe die schwierige Entscheidung getroffen, das diesjährige YXZ1000R SuperFinale-Event abzusagen, das während der Baja Portalegre in Portugal im Oktober stattfinden sollte. Obwohl das SuperFinale 2020 jetzt nicht wie geplant stattfinden wird, engagiert sich Yamaha Motor Europe weiterhin dafür, den YXZ1000R in diesem Jahr europaweit zu unterstützen.
Da die europäischen Nationen unterschiedliche Ansätze zur Aufhebung der COVID-19-Sperrbeschränkungen verfolgen, bleibt unklar, in welchen Ländern der Rennsport in diesem Jahr möglich ist. Die Unsicherheit über Reisebeschränkungen, die einige Wettbewerber von der Teilnahme am SuperFinale 2020 in Portugal ausschließen könnten, war ebenfalls ein wichtiger Faktor.
Aus diesen Gründen hat sich Yamaha Motor Europe entschieden, das diesjährige YXZ1000R SuperFinale abzusagen und gleichzeitig die YXZ1000R-Europapokalrunden zu unterstützen, die in dieser Saison stattfinden. Der Fokus liegt nun darauf, sicherzustellen, dass das SuperFinale 2021 am Ende einer vollen Rennsaison eine passende Feier wird.
Der im vergangenen Jahr gestartete YXZ1000R Cup ist eine Marken-Cup, der über verschiedenen Meisterschaften in Spanien, Portugal, Deutschland, Frankreich, Italien, Schweden, Finnland und Großbritannien ausgetragen wird. Die Teilnehmer kämpfen um eine brandneues YXZ1000R. Parallel dazu läuft die YXZ1000R Challenge, bei der YXZ-Rennfahrer, die nicht am Europapokal teilnehmen, mit dem Sieg einen freien Startplatz bei der Baja Aragon erhalten.
Weitere Aktualisierungen der YXZ-Rennsituation 2020 und der Saison 2021 werden folgen, sobald die globale Situation klarer wird.

Die letztjährige Veranstaltung war ein fantastischer Erfolg und der perfekte Abschluss einer Saison mit unglaublichen Rennen zusammen mit unserer YXZ-Gemeinde. Die Situation in diesem Jahr ist jedoch mit Ländern in ganz Europa, die daran arbeiten eine Pandemie einzudämmen eine völlig andere. Jedes Land lockert die Beschränkungen anders mit dem Ergebnis, dass wir keine Parität in ganz Europa haben. Aus diesem Grund haben wir beschlossen, die diesjährige Veranstaltung abzusagen und uns stattdessen darauf zu konzentrieren das SuperFinale im nächsten Jahr zu einem unvergesslichen Erlebnis zu machen. Für die National Cups in den Ländern, in denen Rennen möglich sein werden, bleiben die nationalen Niederlassungen von Yamaha Motor Europe in engem Kontakt mit allen Wettbewerbern und stellen zusätzliche Informationen zur Verfügung, sobald diese verfügbar sind.“
Due to the ongoing coronavirus situation, Yamaha Motor Europe has taken the difficult decision to cancel this year’s YXZ1000R SuperFinale event, which was scheduled to take place during the Baja Portalegre in Portugal in October. Although the 2020 SuperFinale will not now go ahead as planned, Yamaha Motor Europe remains committed to supporting YXZ1000R racing across Europe this year.
With European nations adopting different approaches to lifting COVID-19 lockdown restrictions, it remains unclear in which countries racing will return this year and when. Uncertainty over travel restrictions, which could exclude some competitors from travelling to the 2020 SuperFinale in Portugal, was also a major factor.
It is for these reasons that Yamaha Motor Europe opted to cancel this year’s YXZ1000R SuperFinale while continuing to support those YXZ1000R European Cup rounds that do take place this season. The focus now is on ensuring that the 2021 SuperFinale will be a fitting celebration at the end of what everyone hopes will be a full season of racing.
Launched last year, the YXZ1000R Cup is a mono brand racing community that features within various European championships taking place in Spain, Portugal, Germany, France, Italy, Sweden, Finland and the United Kingdom, with participants competing to win a brand new YXZ1000R. Running in parallel is the YXZ1000R Challenge, which ranks YXZ racers who aren’t contesting the European Cup with the winner receiving a free entry to the Baja Aragon.

„It was with great regret that we decided to cancel this year’s YXZ1000R SuperFinale. Last year’s event was a fantastic success and the perfect way to close out a season of incredible racing together with our YXZ racing community. However, the situation this year is very different, with countries across Europe working to contain a pandemic and racing, quite rightly, suspended for the duration. Each country is easing restrictions differently, with the result that we don’t have parity across Europe, which could result in some YXZ1000R Cups still pending or competitors possibly excluded from the SuperFinale in Portugal due to travel restrictions imposed by their own or other government bodies. It is for this reason we took the decision to cancel this year’s event, and to focus instead on making next year’s SuperFinale a memorable one. For the National Cups in those countries where it will be possible to race, the national branches of Yamaha Motor Europe will remain in close contact with all competitors and provide additional information when it is available.“
