2026 Can-Am Maverick X3 X DS Turbo RR Smart-Shox Test Review. The 2026 Can-Am Maverick X3 X DS Turbo RR with Smart-Shox is Can-Am’s top-tier 64-inch-wide Maverick X3, packing a claimed 200 horsepower, FOX Smart-Shox semi-active suspension, Smart-Lok 4WD, a pDrive primary clutch, and one of the strongest power-to-weight ratios available from a major sport SXS manufacturer.

For drivers who want serious speed without stepping up to a 72-inch-wide desert car, this X3 delivers a rare mix of tight-trail agility, high-speed stability, and straight-line acceleration. With a 64-inch width, 102-inch wheelbase, 20 inches of suspension travel front and rear, and Can-Am’s claimed 1,579-pound dry weight, the Maverick X3 X DS Turbo RR with Smart-Shox brings big power and big suspension performance to a multi-terrain platform built for woods, fire roads, rocks, ledges, whoops, jumps, and wide-open trails.

Can-Am sent us a 2025 test unit, but with the 2026 model carrying over mechanically with only a few updates, this test remains completely relevant for evaluating the latest Maverick X3 X DS Turbo RR. For 2026, the X3 receives updated LED headlights, a beefed-up HMW plastic skid plate that is primarily bolt-on, and Smart-Shox-equipped models gain a 10.25-inch touchscreen with a rear-facing camera.

In this UTV On Demand test review, we break down the Maverick X3 X DS Turbo RR’s 900cc triple-cylinder Rotax turbo engine, roller-bearing-equipped pDrive primary clutch, CVT performance, Smart-Lok drivetrain, FOX Podium 2.5 and 3.0 Smart-Shox suspension, steering, brakes, cockpit, trail manners, and overall performance after a full riding season behind the wheel.

The question is simple: is the 200-horsepower, 64-inch-wide Maverick X3 X DS Turbo RR with Smart-Shox the highest-performing multi-terrain sport side-by-side in its class?
