Out the back of a Weipa shed, Jesse Gleeson and Jock McDonald swap a blown Landcruiser engine to keep the Cape York mission alive. Old Telegraph Track and Nolans Brook ahead.

After a week getting smashed on a cyclone-shredded Frenchmans Track, near enough every 4WD in the convoy is broken. The 60 Series has cooked its engine and we need to find a new one. What follows is a 19 hour engine swap to get this 60 series running and finish our mission.

Then it’s back on the road for the real prize: the Old Telegraph Track from Palm Creek south all the way to the northern end. Gunshot Creek, Elliot Falls, a stranded 79 Series that needs rescuing, and a deep river crossing that pushes every rig to its limit. Then Nolans Brook. Let’s just say it got a lot more interesting than planned. We won’t spoil who kept it dry and who very much didn’t. One final push after that and the boys roll into Australia’s Top Pub on Thursday Island.
