This time of year always creeps up on us, and we’ve been heads down, arse in the workshop, working flat out on builds for VMXdN Hawkstone and Farleigh Castle Vets MX. But we did manage to prise ourselves away for a day out with Tommy Searle at Hawkstone Park, where he put the YZ250 up against the KX500 for a proper back-to-back test. Bear in mind, Tommy had never ridden a KX500 before, and saying he was excited would be the understatement of the year. In this one, you’ll get my vote on which bike he should be riding, Tony’s vote too, and Tommy’s honest reaction after putting both through their paces on the iconic Hawkstone hill. What was meant to be a day that answered a few questions ended up throwing up even more confusion than we started with.
