FIA: First one for Loeb with Dacia Perched at the top of the standings following his eighth W2RC stage win, Lucas Moraes faced the arduous task of opening the road this morning. The Brazilian held his own against pursuers of the calibre of Sébastien Loeb and Nasser Al Attiyah. Even so, the Frenchman gained the upper hand as the day wore on and secured his first win of the week, which is also his 21st in W2RC and Dacia’s fourth in the championship, 1′42″ from Moraes. The Qatari finished 2’37“ behind Loeb after a one-minute penalty for a jump start in the special, like a sprinter getting out of the starting blocks. Moraes surrendered the overall lead to Loeb by 41 seconds. Al Attiyah moved onto the provisional podium, 3′52″ behind his teammate, dislodging Seth Quintero, who came in fifth in the special (+4′54″). Mattias Ekström, who has been under the weather since the beginning, struggled too. Both Ford M-Sport drivers finished outside the top 10.
CHALLENGER: Seaidan exacts revenge Defeated by Dania Akeel yesterday, Yasir Seaidan turned the tables on his teammate and fellow Saudi today. The W2RC champion romped home with 4′38″ to spare over his countrywoman and bounced up to the top of the standings. He now leads the Challenger race by 3′39″ over Akeel, with Pau Navarro completing a BBR Motorsport podium sweep at 11′27″.
SSVs: Gaspari goes one for one with Al Helei Mansour Al Helei is no longer the shoo-in for the title that he appeared to be this morning. The Emirati, who started the stage in the lead, was hamstrung by suspension issues throughout the special. His main rival yesterday, Enrico Gaspari, pounced on the opportunity to snatch the win by 15′16″ over fellow Italian Michele Cinotto (Xtreme Plus Polaris). Al Helei, 16′26″ off the pace, handed over the lead to Gaspari, who enjoys a margin of 6′30″ over the local hero. The championship leader, Alexandre Pinto (Old Friends Rally), was unable to tap the full potential of his vehicle for the second day in a row. His team expects to rectify the problem by tomorrow, allowing the Portuguese driver to perform at the same level as in the Dakar |
FIM: Sanders takes the initiative
Daniel Sanders, who started the special in seventh place after riding on eggshells due to a suspected clutch problem yesterday, led the stage from A to Z. The 2025 Dakar winner handily dispatched Ignacio Cornejo (Hero MotoSports) and Adrien Van Beveren (Monster Energy Honda HRC) and seized the overall lead. He turned his 6′37″ deficit to Tosha Schareina (Monster Energy Honda HRC) into a 2′25″ advantage over his KTM teammate Luciano Benavides at the top of the board. The Spaniard is now third at 2′43″ after struggling at the front of the race today. Sanders has his brother in arms Ricky Brabec close behind at 3′00″. A failing clutch knocked Ross Branch and his Hero out of the event. This is the second DNF in a row for the reigning W2RC champion, who crashed out of the Dakar a month ago. His grip on the sceptre is slipping.
RALLY 2: 3-0 to Docherty
Michael Docherty, the Tantalus of Rally 2 (no races won outright despite 20 stage wins to his name), can almost touch the first W2RC win of his career with his fingertips. Undefeated since the beginning, the Dubai-based South African clinched another special by 3′37″ over his teammate Tobias Ebster and 5′15″ over Konrad Dąbrowski. The Duust Rally rider is his closest rival in the standings at 15′51″. Ebster is fourth at 29′19″ after receiving a penalty for changing his engine, behind Xraids Experience’s Ruy Barbosa, 23′35″ off the pace.

QUADS: Third leader in as many days
Gaëtan Martinez (CFMoto Thunder Racing) seized the lead after the prologue, Abdulaziz Ahli after stage 1, and now, it is Antanas Kanopkinas who tops the board after winning today’s special. The Lithuanian is 3′33″ ahead of Marek Łój and 28′46″ clear of his French stablemate. Ahli, a four-time winner and reigning champion, is unlikely to get his hands on a fifth title this time round
