Die Einsätze des Abends waren klar, um den Titel zu gewinnen, musste Billy BOLT (GBR-Husqvarna) die Akrapovic SuperPole holen und das erste Rennen vor seinem Saisonrivalen Jonny WALKER (GBR-Beta) gewinnen. Mit einer beeindruckenden Zeit von 43,782 hakte BOLT die letzte SuperPole der Saison ab und platzierte sich an der idealen Stelle für das „Main Event“. Jonny WALKER war ihm wieder einmal dicht auf den Fersen, in der Hoffnung, seinen Landsmann wenigstens auf Trab zu halten. Im ersten Rennen der Nacht startete Billy BOLT mit dem Airoh Holeshot perfekt und machte sich dann daran, den Abstand zu allen anderen Konkurrenten schnell zu vergrößern. Zurück im Feld war einer der weiteren Schwerpunkte des Saisonfinales der Kampf um den dritten Platz in der Meisterschaftswertung zwischen Cody WEBB (USA-Sherco) und Taddy BLAZUSIAK (POL-GASGAS). Drei Punkte trennten den Amerikaner vom Polen, als sie in Gliwice eintrafen, und die beiden Männer kämpften den ganzen Abend und boten einige der aufregendsten Kopf-an-Kopf-Kämpfe des Jahres. Im ersten Rennen schnappte sich BLAZUSIAK, unterstützt von einem begeisterten Heimpublikum, einen überaus wichtigen dritten Platz vor Cody WEBB – wodurch das Paar in der Punktetabelle gleichauf lag. An der Spitze machte Billy BOLT, der sich zweifellos etwas unter Druck fühlte, einen Fehler und ging im großen Steingartenabschnitt zu Boden. Jonny WALKER war bereit, seine Chance zu nutzen, um seinen Freund und Rivalen zu überholen. BOLT schaffte es jedoch, sich neu zu fokussieren und den privaten Beta-Fahrer schnell wieder zu überholen. Billy sicherte sich seinen 13. Saisonsieg und gewann noch während des Abends seinen dritten Weltmeistertitel. Jonny WALKER belegte einen starken zweiten Platz.

Nachdem Billy BOLT bereits die Krone und WALKER einen sicheren zweiten Platz in der Gesamtwertung belegt hatten, richtete sich alle Aufmerksamkeit darauf, wer sonst noch in der Lage wäre, seinem Lebenslauf die „Top 3 in der FIM SuperEnduro-Weltmeisterschaft“ hinzuzufügen. BLAZUSIAK und WEBB nahmen diese Aufgabe ernst und engagierten sich im Battle Royal. Zu Beginn des zweiten Rennens war der Pole im Vorteil, der aus der zweiten Reihe einen hervorragenden Start erwischte. Der sechsmalige Weltmeister war im Kielwasser von BOLT, als sie den schwierigen Sandabschnitt der anspruchsvollen polnischen Strecke angriffen. WEBB lag zu diesem Zeitpunkt auf dem fünften Platz, startete aber ein enormes Comeback. Billy BOLT, der das Rennen anführte, hatte bereits die Kontrolle vor einem tapferen Will HOARE (GBR-GAGAS) übernommen. Cody WEBB drängte sich durch das Feld und schaffte es, BLAZUIAK den 3. Platz zu nehmen, aber er fiel in den Sand und ließ den Pole zurück, um den Vorteil zurückzugewinnen. Der Kampf zwischen den beiden Männern war noch lange nicht vorbei. WEBB blieb am Ausgang des Steingartens stehen, als er gerade den Werks-GASGAS-Fahrer passiert hatte. Schneller Vorlauf zur letzten Runde und ein angreifender WEBB versuchte alles gegen BLAZUSIAK, zum Entsetzen der Heimfans schaffte er es, den Pole im kleinen Steinabschnitt zu blockieren und flog auf den zweiten Platz, was die Fans und ihren Helden ein wenig zurückließ mutlos. Natürlich gewann BOLT dieses zweite Rennen vor WEBB und WALKER. BLAZUSIAK überquerte die Ziellinie als Vierter, aber seine Hoffnungen auf das Weltpodium schienen zu schwinden.

Das letzte Rennen der Nacht würde zwischen dem Werks-Sherco und dem Werks-GASGAS-Fahrer entscheidend sein. Das letzte Rennen wurde wenig überraschend von einem makellosen und mühelosen BOLT gewonnen (4 Hattricks in 5 GPs für #57!), aber es waren BLAZUSIAK und WEBB, die den Platz zum Leuchten brachten, BLAZUSIAK fuhr mit einem Tempo, einer Präzision und einer Leidenschaft, die man nicht gesehen hatte bisher in dieser unglücklichen Saison für den polnischen Fahrer. Im letzten Rennen holte er auf Kosten von Jonny WALKER einen fantastischen zweiten Platz. Die Zehntausende von Fans in der Menge waren sichtlich begeistert, als „Taddy, Taddy, Taddy!“ Gesänge ertönten. erklang. Als BLAZUSIAK alles gab, um seine Chancen zu wahren, geriet Cody WEBB in eine unglückliche Kollision mit einem Tail-Ender. Der Amerikaner verlor im Rennen seinen Rhythmus und stürzte in der Reihenfolge, WEBB überquerte schließlich die Ziellinie auf einem entfernten sechsten Platz und bot einem überglücklichen Taddy BLAZUSIAK den letzten Schritt auf dem Podium der Saison 2023.

Dieses Fanfarenfinale krönte eine spektakuläre und erfolgreiche Saison 2023. Billy BOLT holt sich den Weltmeistertitel vor Jonny WALKER und Taddy BLAZUSIAK. Dank des letzten entschlossenen Vorstoßes von BLAZUSIAK holte sich GASGAS auch den Konstrukteurstitel 2023.

Eine unglaubliche Leistung vollbrachte der 18-jährige Mitch BRIGHTMORE (GASGAS) in Gliwice. Der Brite gewann in seiner ersten Saison in der Disziplin den Weltmeistertitel in der Kategorie Junior. Mitch, Dritter in der Gesamtwertung an diesem Abend, litt sehr unter den chaotischen Rennen in seiner Klasse, aber er hat eindeutig alles, was man braucht, um ein Weltmeister zu werden, und beeindruckte die Zuschauer die ganze Saison über mit seinem Stil und seiner Geschwindigkeit. Mit einem Gesamtsieg und vier Podestplätzen gewann der TTR Rigamonti-Fahrer den Titel vor seinem jüngeren Bruder Ashton, der gerade einmal 16 Jahre alt war! Ashton kam dem Titel sehr nahe, und obwohl er verärgert war, dass er es nicht ganz schaffen konnte, freute er sich sehr für seinen älteren Bruder und war mit seiner Leistung im Laufe seiner ersten Saison zufrieden. Der Jüngste der BRIGHTMORE-Jungs hat enormes Potenzial gezeigt, das ihm für das nächste Jahr sehr zugute kommen sollte. Das überwältigende Talent der beiden jungen Briten hätte dem Sieger des Abends in Gliwice, dem mutigen und sturen Milan SCHMUESER (GER-Sherco), beinahe das Scheinwerferlicht genommen. Der Deutsche zwang die beiden GASGAS-Fahrer bis in die letzten Runden einer stets heiß umkämpften Saison in der Juniorenklasse zum Kampf. Der Sherco-Fahrer wird Dritter in der Gesamtwertung hinter den beiden BRIGHTMORE-Brüdern.

Maciej WIĘCKOWSKI (POL-GASGAS) und Grzegorz KARGUL (POL-Husqvarna) erzielten in der offenen Kategorie einen überwältigenden Doppelsieg. Die beiden Männer teilten sich jeweils einen Rennsieg in einer gut besetzten Klasse; Dreizehn Fahrer haben es geschafft, alle Hindernisse auf der anspruchsvollen und technischen Strecke von Gliwice zu überwinden. Die beiden Polen wurden von ihren Fans angefeuert und beendeten die Nacht vor dem Italiener Alessandro AZZALINI auf seinem GASGAS.

Der zweite polnische GP der Saison war ein echter Erfolg, sowohl auf der Strecke als auch auf der Tribüne. Mehr als 10.000 Fans kamen, um die Namen ihrer Lieblingsfahrer zu singen, und die Atmosphäre war elektrisierend. Die Saison 2023 neigt sich dem Ende zu und wird als das Jahr der großen Dominanz eines Mannes in die Geschichte eingehen: dem unaufhaltsamen Billy BOLT.

Dieser fühlt sich etwas spezieller an, denn den ersten bekam ich fast automatisch und aus der Ferne im Jahr 2020, als die Welt mit der Pandemie eine verrückte Zeit durchmachte. Heute Abend hatte ich meine ganze Familie und meine Freunde hier und die Menge war wild, ich konnte sie die ganze Nacht hören und es fühlt sich unglaublich an, einen weiteren Titel zu holen. Ich bin so glücklich, ich fühle mich gut und ich freue mich so für mein Team – gute Stimmung rundum!“

Jonny WALKER (GBR-Beta): „Es war ein gutes Jahr, Billy brennt und ich habe mein Bestes gegeben, um mit ihm zu kämpfen, aber er ist einfach zu gut. Ich bin mit dem zweiten Platz in der Meisterschaft zufrieden, denn das bedeutet, wenn Billy nicht hier gewesen wäre, hätte ich gewonnen! Mein Reiten war dieses Jahr ziemlich gut, meine Zeit in Amerika hat geholfen. Ich hatte das ganze Jahr über gute Starts, einige Holeshots, aber am Ende hat es nicht gereicht, um in Siege umzuwandeln. Ich muss weiter trainieren, brauche mehr Fahrradzeit und mal sehen, wo es uns hinführt – vielleicht können wir versuchen, Billy zu schlagen! Herzlichen Glückwunsch an ihn und sein Team für das, was sie getan haben.“

Taddy BLAZUSIAK (POL-GASGAS): „Was für eine Nacht! Ich habe heute Abend das fantastische polnische Publikum hinter mir gespürt, sie haben in jedem Rennen so laut gejubelt. Ich hatte einen schwierigen Saisonstart mit etwas Pech und Herausforderungen, aber heute Abend konnte ich endlich so fahren, wie ich wollte. Während aller drei Rennen hatte ich große Kämpfe mit Cody, wir kämpften um den dritten Titel, und schließlich kam ich an die Spitze … aber es war alles andere als einfach! Ich bin so begeistert, diese Saison mit einem Höhepunkt beenden zu können, und ich möchte allen danken, die das für mich möglich gemacht haben.“

Cody WEBB (USA-Sherco): „Es war gut, hier in Polen zu sein und zu versuchen, Taddy auf seinem Heimrasen zu besiegen, wir hatten so viele gute Kämpfe hin und her und haben die Plätze gewechselt! Am Ende hat es nicht geklappt, ich hatte im letzten Rennen etwas Pech und es hat heute Abend einfach nicht gepasst. Am Ende ist diese Saison viel besser gelaufen als die letzte, obwohl ich eine Handgelenksverletzung und einen schlimmen Bänderriss im Daumen hatte. Ich habe das Gefühl, dass ich mein Bestes gegeben habe, und obwohl ich enttäuscht bin, nicht Dritter in der Gesamtwertung zu werden, ist das kein Weltuntergang.“

Mitch BRIGHTMORE (GBR-GASGAS): „Ich habe keine Worte für alles, was passiert ist, es ist einfach unwirklich. Meine Nacht verlief so ziemlich wie geplant und ich bin einfach so glücklich, es ist großartig. Was es noch besser macht, ist, dass mein Bruder Zweiter in der Meisterschaft wurde, wir sind sehr nah dran und fahren in der gleichen Klasse und das gleiche Team ist eine gute Dynamik. Ich bin wirklich sprachlos, einfach überglücklich, es ist mein erstes Jahr in der SuperEnduro und ich bin Weltmeister, einfach unglaublich.“

The evening’s stakes were clear, to win the title Billy BOLT (GBR-Husqvarna) had to take the Akrapovic SuperPole and win the first race ahead of his season-long rival, Jonny WALKER (GBR-Beta). By clocking an impressive 43.782, BOLT ticked off the final SuperPole of the season and placed himself in the ideal spot for the “main event”. Once again, Jonny WALKER was hot on his heels, with the hope of at least keeping his countryman on his toes. In the first race of the night, Billy BOLT started perfectly with the Airoh Holeshot, and he then set about quickly widening the gap to all his other competitors. Back in the pack, one of the other focuses of the season finale was the fight for third in the championship standings between Cody WEBB (USA-Sherco) and Taddy BLAZUSIAK (POL-GASGAS). Three points separated the American from the Pole coming into Gliwice and the two men battled it out all evening, offering up some of the most thrilling head-to-head fights of the year. In the first race, BLAZUSIAK, supported by a fervent home crowd, snatched an all-important third ahead of Cody WEBB – which left the pair level pegging in the points table. In the lead, Billy BOLT, no doubt feeling a little under pressure, made a mistake and went down in the large rock garden section. Jonny WALKER was ready to take his chance, keen to pass his friend and rival. However, BOLT managed to refocus himself and quickly gap the privateer Beta rider once again. Billy secured his 13th victory of the season, and won his third World Championship title while the evening had barely got underway. Jonny WALKER took a strong second place.

With Billy BOLT having already wrapped up the crown, and WALKER in a secure second in the standings, all attention turned to who else would be able to add ‘Top 3 in the FIM SuperEnduro World Championship’ to their CV. BLAZUSIAK and WEBB took this task seriously and engaged in battle royal. At the start of the second race, the advantage was with the Pole who made an excellent start from the second row. The six-time World Champion was in the wake of BOLT when they attacked the tricky sand section of the demanding Polish track. WEBB was running in fifth at this point but was starting a tremendous comeback. Leading the race, Billy BOLT had already taken control ahead of a valiant Will HOARE (GBR-GAGAS). Pushing his way through the pack, Cody WEBB managed to take 3rd place from BLAZUIAK, but he fell in the sand leaving the Pole to regain the advantage. The fight between the two men was far from over. WEBB stalled at the exit of the rock garden when he had just passed the factory GASGAS rider. Fast forward to the last lap and a charging WEBB was trying everything against BLAZUSIAK, to the dismay of the home fans, he managed to block the Pole in the small stone section and flew into second place, leaving the fans and their hero feeling a little despondent. Naturally, BOLT won this second race ahead of WEBB and WALKER. BLAZUSIAK crossed the line in fourth place, but his world podium hopes seemed to be dwindling.
The last race of the night would be decisive between the factory Sherco and the factory GASGAS rider. The final race was unsurprisingly won by a flawless and effortless BOLT (4 hat-tricks in 5 GPs for #57!) but it was BLAZUSIAK and WEBB who set the place alight, BLAZUSIAK was riding with a pace, precision, and passion not seen so far in this unlucky season for the Polish rider. He claimed a fantastic second place in the last race at the expense of Jonny WALKER. The tens of thousands of fans in the crowd were clearly thrilled as chants of “Taddy, Taddy, Taddy!” rang out. As BLAZUSIAK was giving his all to keep his chances alive, Cody WEBB was caught in an unfortunate collision with a tail-ender. The American lost his rhythm in the race and tumbled down the order, WEBB finally crossed the finish line in a distant sixth place, offering the last step on the 2023 season podium to an overjoyed Taddy BLAZUSIAK.

This fanfare finale topped off a spectacular and successful 2023 season. Billy BOLT takes the world title ahead of Jonny WALKER and Taddy BLAZUSIAK. Thanks to BLAZUSIAK’s last determined push, GASGAS also claimed the 2023 Constructors’ Title.

An incredible feat was accomplished in Gliwice by 18 year old Mitch BRIGHTMORE (GASGAS). The Brit won the World Champion title in the Junior category in his first season in the discipline. Third overall on the night, Mitch suffered a lot with the chaotic races in his class, but he clearly has everything it takes to be a World Champion, impressing onlookers all season long with his style and speed. With one overall victory and four podiums, the TTR Rigamonti rider won the title ahead of his younger brother Ashton, just 16 years old! Ashton came extremely close to taking the title himself, and although upset that he couldn’t quite manage it, he was extremely happy for his older brother and pleased with his performance over the course of his first season. The youngest of the BRIGHTMORE boys has shown enormous potential which should stand him in very good stead for next year. The stunning talent of the two young Brits almost took the spotlight away from the winner on the night in Gliwice, a courageous and stubborn Milan SCHMUESER (GER-Sherco). The German forced the two GASGAS riders to fight until the last laps of a Junior class season which was always hotly contested. The Sherco rider finishes third in the standings behind the two BRIGHTMORE brothers.

The second Polish GP of the season was a real success, both on the track and in the stands. More than 10,000 fans came to chant the names of their favourite riders and the atmosphere was electric. The 2023 season is coming to an end and will go down in history as the year of great domination by one man: the unstoppable Billy BOLT.

Billy BOLT (GBR-Husqvarna): “Since I was a little kid, all I’ve ever wanted was to be a World Champion, it was my biggest dream and now I can hardly believe that I have three world titles. This one feels a bit more special, because the first one I got almost by default and remotely in 2020 while the world was going through a crazy time with the pandemic. Tonight I had all my family and friends here and the crowd were wild, I could hear them all night and it feels incredible to take another title. I’m so happy, I feel good, and I’m so pleased for my team – good vibes all round!”

Jonny WALKER (GBR-Beta): “It was a good year, Billy’s on fire and I gave it my best to try and battle with him, but he’s just too good. I’m happy with second in the championship, because it means if Billy wasn’t here I would’ve won! My riding was pretty good this year, my time in America helped. I made good starts all year, quite a few holeshots, but in the end it wasn’t enough to convert to wins. I need to keep training, need more bike time, and let’s see where it gets us – maybe we can have a go at beating Billy! Massive congratulations to him and his team for what they’ve done.”

Taddy BLAZUSIAK (POL-GASGAS): “What a night! I really felt the fantastic Polish crowd behind me tonight, they were cheering so loudly in every race. I had a difficult start to the season with some bad luck and challenges, but tonight I was finally able to ride how I wanted. During all three races I had big battles with Cody, we were fighting for third in the title, and finally I came out on top…but it was far from easy! I’m so stoked to be able to finish this season on a high and I want to thank everyone who made it happen for me.”

Cody WEBB (USA-Sherco): “It was good to be here in Poland and trying to beat down Taddy on his home turf, we had so many good battles back and forth and switching places! In the end it didn’t work out, I was a bit unlucky in the last race and it just didn’t come together tonight. In the end, this season has gone much better than the last, even though I had a wrist injury and badly torn ligaments in my thumb. I feel like I did my best, so even though I’m disappointed not to get third in the standings it’s not the end of the world.”

Mitch BRIGHTMORE (GBR-GASGAS): “I haven’t got words for anything that’s happened, it’s just unreal. My night went pretty much as planned and I’m just so happy, it’s awesome. What makes it even better is that my brother got second in the championship, we’re really close and riding in the same class and the same team is a good dynamic. I’m speechless really, just over the moon, it’s my first year in SuperEnduro and I’m a World Champion, just amazing.”
