Der gestrige Fahrtag Nummer eins endete mit einem Drama in der elften Stunde, bei dem der Favorit Manuel Lettenbichler eine Zeitstrafe erhielt. Der KTM-Fahrer, der ein Kupplungsproblem hatte, wurde von außen unterstützt und erhielt daher eine zweistündige Zeitstrafe, die ihn vom siebten auf den 17. Gesamtrang zurückwarf. Das entfachte gerade bezüglich der Disqualifikation von Graham Jarvis beim Erzbergrodeo mit identischen Verhalten eine heiße Diskussion. Hätte man Manuel Lettenbichler ebenfalls disqualifizieren müssen, da die FIM-Regeln für alle Teilnehmer eigentlich gleich angewandt werden müssten? Das wird noch für ordentlich Zündstoff in der Szene und der Meisterschaft sorgen.
Natürlich hatte Lettenbichler ebenso wie Jarvis am Erzberg für den zweiten Fahrtag eine ordentliche Portion Wut im Bauch und lieferte eine herausragende Fahrleistung auf höchstem Niveau ab. Der dreimalige Red Bull Romaniacs-Sieger pflügte von Platz 17 kommend durch das gesamte Fahrerfeld und holte wiederholt die schnellsten Checkpoint-Zeiten. Er machte kurzen Prozess mit den Schlüsselstellen bis auf einen der 12 Checkpoints und knallte eine Traumzeit für die komplette Strecke von knapp über sechs Stunden aufs Papier. Damit ist er zurück in den Top-10!
Graham Jarvis durfte heute Morgen um 6:45 Uhr als Führender der Gold-Klasse als Erster ran. Der sechsmalige Romaniacs-Sieger wusste das Lettenbichler Vollgas geben wurde und es war auch klar das Teodor Kabakchiev (KTM) als Zweiter in der Gesamtwertung und aktuell stärkster Konkurrent von Jarvis die Aufmerksamkeit des 47-jährigen hatte. Von Beginn an zeigte die Hardenduro-Legende eine meisterhafte Fahrt in den Bergen mit beeindruckender Routine. Er holte sich den zweiten Platz und baute seine Führung auf den Zweitplatzierten Kabakchiev auf neun Minuten aus.
Nach einem etwas langsamen Start in den Morgen wurde Kabakchiev vom Team Bulgaria an den ersten drei Checkpoints mit korrigierter Zeit außerhalb der Top-5 gewertet, bis er seinen bekannten FLOW wieder gefunden hatte. Dann gab es kein Halten mehr, der Bulgare nahm Fahrt auf und holte sich den dritten Tagesrang.

Während Jarvis und Kabakchiev bereits einen 17- und 8-Minuten-Vorsprung gegenüber dem Rest der Klasse aufgebaut haben, ist der Kampf um Platz 3 bis 5 ziemlich eng.
Mario Roman von Sherco Factory Racing zeigte am zweiten Fahrtag sein Können. Nachdem er gestern auf dem vierten Platz eintrudelte, nahm er heute wieder Fahrt auf und festigten seinen vierten Platz. Was aber noch viel wichtiger ist: Damit rückt er auf Gesamtrang drei vor!
Trystan Hart von FMF KTM Factory Racing verlor heute eine Position an Roman. Der Kanadier verlor im Laufe des Tages stetig an Boden gegenüber dem Spanier. Er beendet diesen harten Tag auf dem sechsten Platz und rutscht damit auf den vierten Gesamtrang ab.
Mit einer top Leistung schob sich Michael Walkner von GASGAS als Fünfter zwischen Roman und Hart. Der Österreicher beeindruckt jedes Mal, wenn er auf die Strecke geht und findet sich nun knapp eine Minute hinter Hart auf dem fünften Gesamtrang wieder, was für eine Sensation.
Während der zweite Fahrtag außerhalb von Sibiu im Skigebiet Ranca mit einer Übernachtung in der Wildnis endet, führt der morgige Fahrtag die Teilnehmer zurück nach Sibiu. Dabei werden völlig neue Trails auf über 2000 Meter befahren.

Yesterday’s driving day number one ended with a drama in the eleventh hour, in which the favorite Manuel Lettenbichler received a time penalty. The KTM rider, who had a clutch problem, was assisted from the outside and therefore received a two-hour time penalty, which dropped him from seventh to 17th overall. This sparked a heated discussion regarding the disqualification of Graham Jarvis at the Erzbergrodeo with identical behavior. Should Manuel Lettenbichler also have had to be disqualified, since the FIM rules should actually be applied in the same way for all participants? That will provide plenty of fuel for the scene and the championship.
Of course, like Jarvis on the Erzberg, Lettenbichler had a fair amount of anger in his stomach for the second day of driving and delivered an outstanding driving performance at the highest level. The three-time Red Bull Romaniacs winner plowed through the entire field from 17th to repeatedly set the fastest checkpoint times. He made short work of the key sections except for one of the 12 checkpoints and posted a dream time of just over six hours for the entire route. That puts him back in the top 10!
Graham Jarvis was allowed to go first at 6:45 this morning as the leader of the Gold class. The six-time Romaniacs winner knew that Lettenbichler would go full throttle and it was also clear that Teodor Kabakchiev (KTM), second in the overall standings and currently Jarvis‘ strongest competitor, had the attention of the 47-year-old. Right from the start, the hard enduro legend showed a masterful ride in the mountains with an impressive routine. He took second place and extended his lead over second-placed Kabakchiev to nine minutes.
After a somewhat slow start to the morning, Team Bulgaria’s Kabakchiev was scored outside the top-5 at the first three corrected time checkpoints until he found his familiar FLOW again. Then there was no holding back, the Bulgarian picked up speed and took third place on the day.

While Jarvis and Kabakchiev have already built a 17 and 8 minute lead over the rest of the class, the battle for 3rd through 5th is quite close.
Mario Roman from Sherco Factory Racing showed his skills on the second day of driving. After tumbled into fourth place yesterday, he picked up speed again today and consolidated his fourth place. But what is even more important: He moves up to third place overall!
FMF KTM Factory Racing’s Trystan Hart lost a position to Roman today. The Canadian steadily lost ground to the Spaniard throughout the day. He finishes a tough day in sixth place, slipping down to fourth overall.
With a top performance, Michael Walkner from GASGAS placed fifth between Roman and Hart. The Austrian impresses every time he takes to the track and now finds himself just under a minute behind Hart in fifth overall, what a sensation.
While the second day of driving ends outside of Sibiu in the Ranca ski area with an overnight stay in the wilderness, tomorrow’s driving day takes the participants back to Sibiu. Completely new trails are ridden at over 2000 meters.
