Endgültiger Showdown zwischen Branch und Honda
Wie im Jahr 2023 wird der FIM Rally GP-Champion in Marokko gekrönt. Ross Branch führt dank seiner Konstanz (mit Top-5-Platzierungen in jeder Runde) die Gesamtwertung an, steht jedoch unter starkem Druck seitens des Honda-Lagers. Ricky Brabec, der jetzt nur noch 9 Punkte Rückstand hat, hat ein Ziel: zu gewinnen und zu hoffen, dass sich andere Fahrer zwischen ihn und seinen Rivalen drängen. Das Gleiche gilt für Adrien Van Beveren, der rechnerisch mit 16 Punkten Rückstand auf den Botswanier immer noch im Rennen ist. Sowohl der Amerikaner als auch der Franzose können auf ihren Teamkollegen Tosha Schareina zählen, der zu einem festen Bestandteil des W2RC-Podiums geworden ist. Der Teamchef Ruben Faria hat jedoch bereits gewarnt, dass es keine Teambestellungen geben wird, es sei denn, der Titel steht auf dem Spiel! Abgerundet wird das Honda-Team durch Pablo Quintanilla. Drüben bei Hero melden sich Sebastian Bühler und Nacho Cornejo zum Einsatz, um Branch zu unterstützen und in der Herstellerwertung mitzuhelfen, wo 22 Punkte zwischen den beiden Marken liegen, wobei der japanische Hersteller die Nase vorn hat.
Auch die Rallye-2-Meisterschaft ist weit offen. Romain Dumontier ist der Favorit auf die Titelverteidigung, nachdem er die Dakar gewonnen und in Argentinien die Beute gewonnen hat … aber Bradley Cox, der amtierende Meister in Marokko, liegt nur 8 Punkte dahinter! BAS World KTM Racing tritt mit voller Kraft an: Michael Docherty, ein potenzieller Rennsieger, fährt neben Mathieu Dovèze, der seit dem Etappensieg bei der Dakar auf dem Vormarsch ist, Tobias Ebster, der bei Original by Motul siegreich war, und dem tschechischen Fahrer Jiří Brož. Sein Landsmann Jan Brabec wird ebenfalls auf einer KTM sitzen, allerdings in den Farben von Stojrent Racing. Drüben in Duust hat Konrad Dąbrowski immer noch Chancen auf den Titel und liegt 23 Punkte hinter Dumontier. Unterdessen strebt Jean-Loup Lepan sein drittes Podium der Saison an.
John Medina (Xraids Experience) hat den Rallye-3-Titel bereits in der Tasche und möchte ihn mit Stil feiern. Er muss seinen Teamkollegen Alan Eduardo und den Lokalmatador Amine Echiguer besiegen, der 2022 als Sieger hervorging! Die Podiumsplatzierten des letzten Jahres, Richard Hodola und Souleymane Addahri (Africa Rallye Team), sind auf Rache aus, nachdem sie die oberste Stufe verpasst haben. Der Marokkaner Addahri ist neben dem senegalesischen Fahrer Fodé Traoré eine von zwei ART-Auswahlen. Abgerundet wird das Starterfeld durch den Franzosen Emmanuel Beucher und den Ecuadorianer Mauricio Cueva (Pedrega-Team). In der Quad-Kategorie streben alle W2RC-Teilnehmer nach einem Platz auf dem Gesamtpodest. Der Champion, Manuel Andújar (7240), schied mit einem Paukenschlag aus der Kategorie aus, aber der Zweitplatzierte ist immer noch offen. Kamil Wiśniewski (Orlen Team) war bisher der Beste, aber Hani Alnoumesi und Antanas Kanopkinas (CFMOTO Thunder Racing) liegen nur 1 bzw. 8 Punkte hinter ihm.
Al Attiyah tritt beim Dacia-Debüt gegen Toyota an
Der amtierende zweifache FIA W2RC-Champion Nasser Al Attiyah geht als Gesamtführender und auf vertrautem Boden ins Rennen und hält den Rekord für die meisten Siege in Marokko (2014 bis 2018 und 2021). Die Sicherung eines dritten Titels wäre die perfekte Möglichkeit, sein Debüt mit dem Dacia Sandrider zu feiern, der seinen ersten W2RC-Auftritt hat. Allerdings muss er sich gegen die ihn verfolgenden Toyota-Teams wehren – Yazeed Al Rajhi liegt nur 25 Punkte zurück, während Lucas Moraes 53 zurückliegt. Der Saudi, der hier 2023 gewann, setzt auf die Konstanz seiner Aufstellung Zünglein an der Waage. Auch die dunklen Pferde Seth Quintero (Toyota Gazoo Racing) und Juan Cruz Yacopini (Overdrive Racing) sind dem Hilux treu geblieben. TGR ist dank seines 30-Punkte-Vorsprungs vor Nasser Racing by Prodrive der Favorit auf den Herstellertitel.
Al Attiyah ist nicht der Einzige, der in Marokko neue Farben tragen wird. Guerlain Chicherit, der Gewinner der Ausgabe 2022, hat seinen Toyota gegen einen Mini JCW Rally Plus von X-raid getauscht! Das Gleiche gilt für Guillaume de Mevius, der zu Beginn dieser Saison bei der Dakar Zweiter wurde. Abgerundet wird der Kader der Familie Quandt durch João Ferreira, der hier vor einem Jahr die SSV-Klasse dominierte. Mit dem Tschechen Martin Prokop (Orlen Jipocar) und dem aufstrebenden katalanischen Star Pau Navarro (Past Racing) werden zwei Fords am Start sein. An der marokkanischen Karawane werden außerdem Marcos Baumgart im Prodrive Hunter (X Rally), Mathieu Serradori in seinem Century (SRT), Aliyyah Koloc in ihrem Red-Lined (Buggyra ZM Racing) und die MD Optimus-Teilnehmer Eugenio Amos und Jean-Luc teilnehmen Ceccaldi (MD Rallye Sport).
Zwischen Rokas Baciuška und einer historischen Premiere in der Challenger-Klasse liegen nur noch sechs Sonderprüfungen. Der litauische Sieger der letzten SSV-Meisterschaft strebt ein beispielloses Double an, und Nicolás Cavigliasso, 44 Punkte zurück, ist das letzte verbleibende Hindernis. Marcelo Gastaldi und Dania Akeel jagen für das Team BBR auf den ersten Saisonsieg. Mitch Guthrie (Red Bull Off-Road Junior) macht seine letzte Verbeugung in einem Taurus, bevor er ihn gegen einen Ford in der Ultimate-Klasse eintauscht. Für den gesamten Goczał-Clan – Eryk, Marek und Michał – wird es sein erster W2RC-Auftritt seit der Dakar sein
Final showdown between Branch and Honda
As in 2023, the FIM Rally GP champion will be crowned in Morocco. Ross Branch is leading the standings thanks to his consistency (with top 5 finishes in every round), but he is under serious pressure from the Honda camp. Now only 9 points behind, Ricky Brabec has one goal: to win and hope that other riders wedge themselves between him and his rival. The same goes for Adrien Van Beveren, still mathematically in contention at 16 points from the Botswanan. Both the American and the Frenchman can count on their teammate Tosha Schareina, who has become a W2RC podium regular. However, the team boss, Ruben Faria, has already warned that there will be no team orders unless the title „is on the line“! Rounding out the Honda squad is Pablo Quintanilla. Over at Hero, Sebastian Bühler and Nacho Cornejo are reporting for duty to support Branch and help in the manufacturers‘ standings, where 22 points separate the two brands, with the Japanese manufacturer holding the advantage.
The Rally 2 championship is also wide open. BAS World KTM Racing is coming in full force, with Michael Docherty, a potential race winner, racing alongside Mathieu Dovèze, who has been on the rise since winning stages at the Dakar, Tobias Ebster, victorious in Original by Motul, and the Czech rider Jiří Brož. His countryman Jan Brabec will also be on a KTM, but in Stojrent Racing colours. Over at Duust, Konrad Dąbrowski still has a shot at the title, trailing Dumontier by 23 points. Meanwhile, Jean-Loup Lepan is eyeing his third podium of the season.

Last year’s podium finishers, Richard Hodola and Souleymane Addahri (Africa Rallye Team), are out for revenge after missing out on the top step. The Moroccan Addahri is one of two ART selections, along with the Senegalese rider Fodé Traoré. The grid is rounded out by the Frenchman Emmanuel Beucher and the Ecuadorian Mauricio Cueva (Pedrega Team). In the quad category, all W2RC entrants are gunning for a spot on the overall podium. The champion, Manuel Andújar (7240), went out of the category with a bang, but the runner-up’s spot is still up for grabs. Al Attiyah faces off against Toyota in Dacia debut
The reigning two-time FIA W2RC champion, Nasser Al Attiyah, is going into the race as the overall leader and on familiar ground, holding the record for the most wins in Morocco (2014 through 2018 and 2021). Securing a third crown would be the perfect way to mark his debut with the Dacia Sandrider, which is making its first W2RC appearance. However, he will need to fend off the Toyota crews chasing him —Yazeed Al Rajhi is just 25 points behind, while Lucas Moraes trails by 53. The Saudi, who won here in 2023, is banking on the consistency of his set-up to tip the scales. The dark horses Seth Quintero (Toyota Gazoo Racing) and Juan Cruz Yacopini (Overdrive Racing) have also remained true to the Hilux. TGR are the favourites for the manufacturers‘ title thanks to their 30-point lead over Nasser Racing by Prodrive.

Just six specials stand between Rokas Baciuška and a historic first in the Challenger class. Marcelo Gastaldi and Dania Akeel will be hunting for the first win of the season for Team BBR. Mitch Guthrie (Red Bull Off-Road Junior) is taking his final bow in a Taurus before trading it for a Ford in the Ultimate class. This will be his first W2RC appearance since the Dakar, as for the entire Goczał clan —Eryk, Marek and Michał—, racing for Energylandia Rally Team! The cousins Mario and Rui Franco (Franco Sport) and the father-daughter duo consisting of Lionel and Lucie Baud (G Rally Team) are also ready for a family outing. Ricardo Porém (MMP) rounds out the list.
Nowhere is the suspense greater than in the SSV class, where 4 of the 6 W2RC crews in the race have still got a shot at the title! A run of bad luck in Portugal and Argentina forced Yasir Seaidan (MMP) to relinquish the overall lead to Sebastián Guayasamín (BE Racing). 6 points separate the two Can-Am drivers, with Ricardo Ramilo (Escuderia Ramilo-Rodamoto) 20 points behind the Ecuadorian. Rebecca Busi (OnlyFans Racing) is also in the mix at 41 points. Claude Fournier (MMP) and Enrico Gaspari in his Polaris (TH-Trucks) are no longer in contention, but they are still spoiling for a fight.
