Rallye Breslau 2023, Tag 5: die vorletzten Kämpfe – Etappe 4 gab viele Antworten auf das „Wer“, aber auch einige Intrigen für das Finale

Der vorletzte Tag (Day 5) der Rallye Breslau 2023 bot zwei separate Wertungsprüfungen mit einer Gesamtdistanz von rund 160 Kilometern. Wieder einmal standen Fahrräder, Geländefahrzeuge und Extremfahrzeuge im ersten Teil und die anderen CC-Fahrzeuge im zweiten Teil. Nach der Neugruppierung im Biwak fuhren beide Gruppen den entgegengesetzten Zeitabschnitt. Das Gelände ähnelte dem des Vortages, es gab jedoch neue Abschnitte, darunter Steigungen, schnelle Geraden und knifflige Wege.
Nerimantas Jucius (Beta) war am 5. Tag der Rallye Breslau 2023 in der Motorradklasse der Schnellste. Der Litauer führt die Zweiradgruppe mit 11 Minuten Vorsprung auf Bas Eikelenboom (Husqvarna, NLD, 5. im Tagesziel) an. Dritter in der Gesamtwertung ist Ties Hellegers (Beta, NLD), der sich auf der Etappe den zweiten Platz sichert.
Das Polaris Polska Racing Team setzt seine „langweilige“ Dominanz in der ATV-Klasse fort, wo Rafal Jawien den Etappensieg holte. Auch am Tag vor dem Ziel liegt er mit knapp 15 Minuten Vorsprung vor seinem Teamkollegen und Landsmann Adam Krysiak (4. Platz in Etappe 4) an der Spitze der Gruppe. Es wird ein harter Kampf um die „Bronze“ sein, da der Dritte Marcin Wilkolek und der Vierte Gaetan Martinez (Can-Am, FRA) in der Rangliste nur 3 Minuten voneinander entfernt sind.
Mit einem weiteren Tagessieg ist Janus Van Kasteren Jr. (Arcane T3) immer noch der Gesamtführende in der SSV-Klasse. Er hat 8 Minuten Vorsprung auf Dalius Olechnavicius (Can-Am, 3. des Tages) und der dritte Platz in der Gesamtwertung geht an Michiel Becx (Arcane T3), der auf der Etappe der zweitschnellste war.
In der offenen CC-Klasse sicherte sich Antoine Idelot (Bowler) den Etappensieg und machte knappe 52 Sekunden Vorsprung auf Herman Jasper (Bowler) aus. Der dritte Platz an diesem Tag reichte Roger Schonbrood (Toyota) jedoch aus, um seine Führung in der Gesamtwertung zu behaupten, mit einem gewaltigen Vorsprung von 48 Minuten auf Idelot.
Bei den CC-Fahrzeugen mit begrenzten Modifikationen wird alles auf der letzten Etappe entschieden, da Hans-Peter Meyer (Suzuki, AUT) einen vernachlässigbaren Vorsprung von nur 13 Sekunden auf Hagen Maikranz (Mitsubishi, DEU) hat.
Lucas Gembala blickt zuversichtlich auf den ersten Titel überhaupt in der brandneuen Ultra4-Klasse der Breslau-Rallye. Er fuhr eine weitere Bestzeit und hat einen riesigen Vorsprung von fast zwei Stunden auf Mathias Armand aus Frankreich.
Richard De Groot (Iveco) war der Schnellste unter den CC-Truckern, aber das hilft ihm nicht viel: In der Gesamtwertung liegt er eine Stunde hinter dem Spitzenreiter William Van Groningen (Iveco, 3. des Tages).
Ungeachtet seines enormen Vorsprungs von fast vier Stunden den PKWs der Extreme Klasse sicherte sich Hardo Mere den fünften von fünf Tagessiegen. Der erste von drei Fahrern aus Estland wird möglicherweise das Podium der Rallye Breslau 2023 belegen. Die beiden anderen sind Rait Maendla und Rainer Rueuetli. Martin Hertwig (Land Rover) ist unangefochtener Spitzenreiter in der Klasse der Autos mit begrenzten Modifikationen.
Mit dem Tagessieg übernimmt Ralf Britz (MAN KAT) die Führung in der größeren Klasse (>7,5 t) der Extrem-Trucks. Felix Müllenheim (Unimog) ist trotz des erneuten Etappensiegs von Steffen Braun (Unimog) fast sicherer Sieger bei den kleineren Trucks.

Die Teilnehmer werden in ihrer letzten Etappe die letzten 100 Kilometer der Rallye Breslau 2023 bestreiten. Es wird kein einfacher Weg zur Ziellinie sein, sondern eine echte Etappe mit allen Schwierigkeiten, die wir gut kennen. Das Cross-Country-Menü umfasst sehr schnelle und geführte Strecken, bei denen präzises Fahren und Navigation den Unterschied ausmachen. Die Extreme werden das „Vergnügen“ der letzten Tauchgänge und Bäder im Wasser und Schlamm Polens haben. Und danach werden wir wissen, wer die neuen gekrönten Champions sind.
Rallye Breslau 2023: Die großen Sieger – Dramen und Action bis zum Schluss
Die Rallye Breslau 2023 ist Geschichte, denn der internationale Marathon endete nach sechs anspruchsvollen Tagen in den Regionen Zagan und Drawsko Pomorskie in Polen. Über 220 Rennfahrzeuge aus allen Klassen und Kategorien passierten den Startbogen, und nach rund 1.300 Kilometern gegen die Uhr galt es, die neuen gekrönten Meister der 29. Auflage des ältesten und größten Offroad-Rennens Europas zu ermitteln.
Aber es war kein einfacher Spaziergang am letzten Tag, da sie mit Vollgas etwa 100 Kilometer zurücklegen mussten. Und wenn in manchen Klassen und Kategorien die Sieger schon am vorletzten Tag so gut wie sicher waren, gab es bis auf die letzten Meter auch noch viel Drama und Action.
Rafal Jawien war der am meisten enttäuschte Fahrer in der ATV-Klasse. Der Raider aus Polen führte das Rennen vor der letzten Etappe an, doch Probleme kosteten ihn das Ziel der fünften Etappe und er fiel aus der Spitzengruppe heraus. Der Gewinner der Rallye Breslau 2023 ist also ein weiterer Pilot des Polaris Polska Racing Teams – Adam Krysiak. Krysiak schaffte es im Ziel mit über 6 Minuten Vorsprung auf seinen Teamkollegen Marcin Wilkolek, doch Wilkolek war der Sieger der allerletzten Etappe. Und die „Bronzemedaille“ der diesjährigen Rallye ging an den Franzosen Gaetan Martinez (Can-Am, FRA).
Nerimantas Jucius (Beta) ist der neue König der Motorradklasse bei der Rallye Breslau 2023. Der Pilot aus Litauen lieferte sich die ganze Woche über, aber am Ende, einen guten Kampf mit den niederländischen Raiders Bas Eikelenboom (Husqvarna) und Ties Hellegers (Beta).
Es war ein weiterer niederländisch-lettischer Kampf in der SSV-Klasse, dieses Mal gewannen die Niederländer. Es war Janus Van Kasteren Jr. (Arcane T3), der sich den Titel in der „Buggy“-Gruppe sicherte und Dalius Olechnavicius (Can-Am) knapp 9 Minuten vor dem Ziel besiegte. Der dritte Platz ging an einen weiteren Piloten von Arcane T3 – Michiel Becx, ebenfalls aus den Niederlanden.
In der offenen CC-Klasse der Autos war es ein weiteres großes Drama, als Roger Schonbrood (Toyota) den Sieg auf der letzten Etappe der Breslau 2023 verpasste. Der Niederländer hatte technische Probleme und fiel mit einem Rückstand von respektablen 1:52 Stunden auf den dritten Platz zurück. Somit ist der neue Sieger des Rennens Antoine Idelot (Bowler) aus Frankreich, der es ohne Probleme mit 46 Minuten Vorsprung auf Henry Ulke (Nissan) aus Deutschland ins Ziel schaffte.
In der Klasse der Fahrzeuge CC mit begrenzten Modifikationen gelang Hans-Peter Meyer (Suzuki) erst auf den letzten Kilometern der endgültige Sieg. Der Pilot aus Österreich beendete das Rennen mit etwas mehr als einer Minute Vorsprung auf Maikranz (Mitsubishi, DEU). Nachdem sie in der vorletzten Etappe nur 13 Sekunden voneinander entfernt waren. Dritter auf dem Podium ist Jürgen Weyland (Ford), ebenfalls aus Deutschland.
Lucas Gembala holte sich bei der Rallye Breslau den ersten Ultra4-Titel überhaupt. Der Pilot aus Polen hatte in der ersten Hälfte der Rallye einen großen Vorsprung und sein Hauptrivale Mathias Armand aus Frankreich hatte keine Chance, die Situation zu ändern. Ein weiterer polnischer Pilot – Szymon Salamon – komplettierte das Top-3-Podium.
William Van Groningen (Iveco) muss sich auf der letzten Etappe nicht mehr anstrengen, da er in der Truck-Cross-Country-Klasse beinahe Zweiter geworden wäre. Der Fahrer aus den Niederlanden beendete die Rallye mit einem Vorsprung von mehr als 35 Minuten vor Hugo Kupper (DAF). Der dritte Platz ging an ihren Landsmann Richard De Groot (Iveco).
Hardo Mere gewann jede einzelne Etappe vom Anfang bis zum Ende und war der unangefochtene Dominator in der Fahrzeugklasse der Extreme-Kategorie. Mere holte sich den Sieg bei der Rallye Breslau 2023 und Estland war das siegreiche Land mit Rait Maendla und Rainer Rüuetli, die auf den Plätzen zwei und drei landeten. Martin Hertwig (Land Rover) gewann den Titel in der Klasse der Fahrzeuge mit begrenzten Modifikationen.
Ralf Britz (MAN KAT) in der größeren Klasse (>7,5 t) der Extrem-Trucks und Felix Müllenheim (Unimog) in der kleineren Truck-Klasse Richard De Groot (Iveco) sind die Meister der Rallye Breslau 2023, beide mit großem Vorsprung ihre Rivalen.
Während die Rallye Breslau immer noch heiß ist, arbeitet der Mastermind hinter dem Marathon Alex Kovatchev bereits an der nächsten Folge der RBI Sport-Serie – Balkan Offroad Rally, die Anfang Oktober zum zweiten Mal in Rumänien stattfinden wird.

Rallye Breslau 2023, Day 5: the penultimate battles – Leg 4 gave a lot of answers “who”, but also some intrigues for the final
The penultimate day 5 of Rallye Breslau 2023 offered two separate special stages with total distance of about 160 kilometers. Once again bikes, ATVs and extreme vehicles started the first part, and the other CC vehicles – the second. After regrouping in the bivouac, both groups drove the opposite timed section. The terrain was similar to that of the previous day, but there were new sections, including slopes, fast straights and tricky paths.

Nerimantas Jucius (Beta) was fastest in the 5th day of Rallye Breslau 2023 in the bike class. The Lithuanian is leading the 2-wheeled group, with 11 minutes advance to Bas Eikelenboom (Husqvarna, NLD, 5th at the daily finish). Third overall is Ties Hellegers (Beta, NLD), who gain the second place in the stage.
Polaris Polska Racing Team continue its “boring” domination in the ATV class, where Rafal Jawien claimed the stage win. He is also leader in the group, day before the finish, with almost 15 minutes advance to his team-mate and fellow countryman Adam Krysiak (4th place in leg 4). There will be a severe fight for the “bronze”, as the third Marcin Wilkolek, and the fourth Gaetan Martinez (Can-Am, FRA) are separated by only 3 minutes in the rankings, but with very small chance for something better.
With yet another daily win, Janus Van Kasteren Jr. (Arcane T3) is still the overall leader in the SSV class. He has 8 minutes advance to Dalius Olechnavicius (Can-Am, 3rd for the day), and the third place in the general standings is for Michiel Becx (Arcane T3), who was second fastest for the stage.
In the car CC open class Antoine Idelot (Bowler) clinched the stage win, gaining tiny 52 seconds of advance to Herman Jasper (Bowler). However, the third place for the day was enough for Roger Schonbrood (Toyota) to hold his leadership in the overall, with massive 48 minutes advance to Idelot.
As for the cars CC with limited modifications, everything will be decided in the last stage, as Hans-Peter Meyer (Suzuki, AUT) has negligible lead of only 13 seconds to Hagen Maikranz (Mitsubishi, DEU).
Lucas Gembala is looking confidently at the first ever title in the all-new Ultra4 class of Breslau rally. He made another best time and has a huge, almost 2 hours advance to Mathias Armand from France.
Richard De Groot (Iveco) was the fastest among the CC truckers, but this doesn’t help him a lot: in the general rankings he is one hour behind the leader William Van Groningen (Iveco, 3rd for the day).
No matter his huge almost 4 hours advance in the Extreme car race, Hardo Mere made 5th of five daily win. The driver is first from three from Estonia, who will possibly occupy the podium of Rallye Breslau 2023. The two others are Rait Maendla and Rainer Rueuetli. Martin Hertwig (Land Rover) is undisputable leader in the class of the cars with limited modifications.
With the daily victory, Ralf Britz (MAN KAT) holds the leadership in the bigger (>7.5 t) class of the extreme trucks. Felix Muellenheim (Unimog) is almost sure winner among the smaller trucks, despite the new stage victory of Steffen Braun (Unimog).
The competitors will challenge the last 100 kilometers of Rallye Breslau 2023 in their final stage. It won’t be a simple walkway towards the final line, but a real stage with all the difficulties that we know well. The Cross-Country menu includes very fast and guided tracks where the difference will be made by precise driving and navigation. The Extremes will have the „pleasure“ of the last dives and baths in the water and mud of Poland. And after that we will know who are the new crowned champions.

Rallye Breslau 2023: the big winners – dram an action until the very end of the marathon
Rallye Breslau 2023 officially is in the books, as the international marathon finished after 6 challenging days in the regions of Zagan and Drawsko Pomorskie in Poland. Over 220 racing vehicles from all classes and categories passed under the start arch, and, after some 1300 kilometers against the clock it was the time to determine the new crowned champions of the 29th edition of Europe’s oldest and biggest off-road race.
But it wasn’t an easy walk in the park for the last day, where they were about 100 kilometers for cover in full throttle. And, if in some classes and categories the winners were almost sure from the penultimate day, there was also some big drama and action until the last meters.
It was Rafal Jawien, who was the most disappointed racer in the ATV class. The raider from Poland led the race before the last stage, but problems costed him the finish of Leg 5 and he dropped out from the top rankings. So, the winner of Rallye Breslau 2023 is another pilot of Polaris Polska Racing Team – Adam Krysiak. Krysiak made it with over 6 minutes at the finish to his team-mate Marcin Wilkolek, but Wilkolek was the winner of the very last stage. And the “bronze medal” of this year’s rally went to Frenchman Gaetan Martinez (Can-Am, FRA).

The pilot from Lithuania made a good fight with Dutch raiders Bas Eikelenboom (Husqvarna) and Ties Hellegers (Beta) during the whole week, but at the end of the rally had a good 9:35 min. advance to Eikelenboom and some 10 minutes more to Hellegers.
It was another Dutch – Latvian battle in the SSV class, this time won by the Nederland. It was Janus Van Kasteren Jr. (Arcane T3) who grabbed the title in the “buggy” group, beating Dalius Olechnavicius (Can-Am) with almost 9 minutes on the finish line. The third place went to another pilot of Arcane T3 – Michiel Becx, also from Nederland.
In the car CC open class, it was another big drama, as Roger Schonbrood (Toyota) missed the victory in the last stage of Breslau 2023. The Dutch had technical issues and, loosing respectable 1:52 hours, dropped to the third place on the podium. So, the new winner of the race is Antoine Idelot (Bowler) from France, who, without problems, made it to the finish with 46 minutes advance to Henry Ulke (Nissan) from Germany.
In the class of the cars CC with limited modifications, Hans-Peter Meyer (Suzuki) managed to clinch the final victory just in the last kilometers. The pilot from Austria completed the race with little more than a minute advance to Maikranz (Mitsubishi, DEU). After they were separated by only 13 seconds in the penultimate stage. Third on the podium is Jurgen Weyland (Ford), also from Germany.
Lucas Gembala grabbed the first ever Ultra4 title in Rallye Breslau. The pilot from Poland had a huge advance from the first half of the rally and there was not a chance to his main rival Mathias Armand from France to change the situation. Another Polish pilot – Szymon Salamon completed the top 3 podium.
William Van Groningen (Iveco) doesn’t need to push up in the las stage, as hi was almost sur champion in the truck cross-country class. The driver from Nederland finished the rally with a more than a god advance of 35 minutes Hugo Kupper (DAF). Third place went to their compatriot Richard De Groot (Iveco).
Wining every single stage from the beginning till the end, Hardo Mere were undisputed dominator among the car class of the Extreme category. Mere grab the victory in Rallye Breslau 2023 and Estonia was the triumphant country with Rait Maendla and Rainer Rueuetli finishing on second and third place. Martin Hertwig (Land Rover) won the title in the class of the cars with limited modifications.

As Rallye Breslau is still hot as emotions, the mastermind behind the marathon Alex Kovatchev, already is working of the next episode of The RBI Sport series – Balkan Offroad Rally, which will be held for second year in Romania, in the beginning of October.
