The season debut at the Int. German Enduro Championship and the DMSB Enduro Cup is getting closer. In three weeks the first showdown will take place in Tucheim in Jerichower Land. Already last year, the MC Fiener Tucheim e.V. in the ADAC organized the season opener, which took place in top conditions and with a large, international starting field. Will the 53rd edition of ‚Rund um den Fiener‘ on March 4, 2023 be a similarly great enduro spectacle?

At least those responsible are working hard, as Gerald Müller confirms, not without pride. ‚Since the beginning of the year, twenty to thirty sports fans have been in action almost every weekend, who have dedicated themselves to preparing for our off-road trip with great commitment. We are currently well on schedule in all areas. The three special stages are already in place, only small details still need to be fine-tuned,” the long-standing chief expedition officer gives an insight into the current status.

Three specials and hearty stages

The three special stages are again positioned on the usual sections of terrain. Test one, which will be almost unchanged from the previous year, is again located directly at the youth club, where all administrative contact points, such as the organizational office, document inspection, technical inspection, Parc Fermé and start-finish area and in the immediate vicinity can be found near the wheelhouse. The second special stage, on the other hand, is a bit more extensive than usual. Because in addition to the well-known forest passages around the long stream bed, some arable land is also included, so that the travel time adds up to two to three minutes.

On the other hand, test three in the sand pit will be slightly shorter, since the terrain is not entirely available due to construction work on a transmission mast. Immediately before that there will also be a time control with service. However, this is located on another, more spacious area directly opposite in the rear part of the special stage. The stage could be extended by some forest sections, which are just as typical for ‚Rund um den Fiener‘ as the obligatory muddy meadows, which are again waiting for the drivers this time. “We were able to increase the proportion of terrain again. The gain is around seven to eight minutes driving time,‘ explains Gerald Müller, who would like to say a big thank you at this point, ‚without the great support from the Saxony-Anhalt State Forestry Service and the agricultural cooperatives of Tucheim and Paplitz, the whole event would be as it is it is, absolutely unthinkable. Thanks very much!‘

Let’s go for the best time!

It starts at 9 a.m. when the first drivers roll off the starting ramp, only to enter the first special stage after just a few hundred meters. The DEM starters have to complete a total of three rounds as well as tests one and two a fourth time. A similar distance is planned for the DEC riders. Three rounds plus one more ride on the test at the youth club. Women, seniors and super seniors are challenged with two laps plus an additional special stage. “But the stage times are not as tight as they were last year. That was the only point we had to take credit for last year,‘ says Gerald Müller self-critically. ‚We’ve learned from it and are striving to do better this time. We want to do justice to all participants, so that our 53rd edition will be fondly remembered by everyone.”

Luca Fischeder goes for the first time in his career as acting Int. German Enduro Champion in a DEM season: Can the Sherco rider make a made-to-measure debut in Tucheim? In 2022 he only had to admit defeat to Swedish guest starter Filip Bengtsson. The overall winner of the previous year has not yet been named. But some of his compatriots, who also made a strong impression a year ago, such as Casper Lindholm (second in the E2) or Gustav Mähler (third in the juniors). Davide von Zitzewitz will make his long-awaited comeback after a long injury break. The KTM driver contested his last DEM run here a year ago, which he completed extremely successfully as third in the daily ranking and the E2 class victory. It should also be interesting to see how expensive Jeremy Sydow will sell for his first appearance in Tucheim. Other favorites for top results are undoubtedly Yanik Spachmüller, Andreas Beier and Edward Hübner, who took fourth to sixth place in the overall daily ranking last year. And what role will top Czech driver Kryštof Kouble play or sand specialist Robert Riedel, who had to take a break in Tucheim last year due to injury? Or is there a completely different driver in the limelight who isn’t on anyone’s list at the moment? The answer to this g
