Der Enduro-Klassiker im Erzgebirge besitzt Kultstatus, was sich an ungebrochener Beliebtheit und aktuell 277 Nennungen für die 2023er Auflage eindrucksvoll widerspiegelt. Ein Sieg in der Motorradstadt Zschopau ist prestigeträchtig und wiegt schwer, ebenso wie manch Meistertitel, von denen es am kommenden Samstag, beim großen Finale der Int. Deutschen Enduro Meisterschaft, noch einige zu vergeben gilt.
„Ich möchte die Saison mit dem Championatssieg in Zschopau abschließen“, bringt Jeremy Sydow seine Ambitionen klar auf den Punkt. Ohnehin strotzt der Sherco-Fahrer aktuell nur so vor Selbstbewusstsein. Ende September sicherte er sich ungeschlagen den Junioren-Titel in der Französischen Enduro-Meisterschaft. Letztes Wochenende machte er den dritten Gesamtrang der FIM Junior Weltmeisterschaft perfekt. Zudem räumte er den Vizetitel in der Junior2-Kategorie ab! „Die zurückliegenden Wochen waren wirklich intensiv, aber auch sehr erfolgreich. Ich muss lang zurückschauen, um eine Saison zu finden, in der alles so glatt lief“, freut sich der Sherco-Fahrer. Kein Ausfall, keine Verletzung – und das soll auch beim Finale so bleiben. „Zschopau ist ein besonderes Rennen mit vielen Fans. Ich freue mich darauf und möchte natürlich gewinnen, wenngleich Luca mit Sicherheit auch sehr stark sein wird“, blickt Jeremy Sydow, der beste Chancen hat den E1-Titel zu gewinnen, auf seinen Teamkollegen Luca Fischeder. Derwiederum noch etwas angeschlagen in den Finallauf geht.
Für den amtierenden Int. Deutschen Enduro Meister steht vor allem die erfolgreiche Titelverteidigung im Vordergrund, die zwischenzeitlich sogar ein wenig am seidenen Faden hing. „Mein Sturz in Rehna hatte weit größere Folgen, als mir lieb war. In den Tagen danach tat der ganze Oberkörper weh. Ich konnte nicht einmal tief durchatmen ohne Schmerzen. An Motorradfahren war erst gar nicht zu denken“, schildert Luca Fischeder die Situation, weshalb er auch schweren Herzens auf die letzten WM-Läufe in Portugal verzichtete. Doch nun ist er seit ein paar Tagen wieder im Training und guter Dinge. „Ich bin jetzt dreimal trainieren gewesen und noch nicht wieder ganz bei hundert Prozent, aber auf einem guten Weg. Der Championatstitel hat oberste Priorität. Aber klar ‚Rund um Zschopau‘ zu gewinnen wäre schon megacool.“
Während die ersten beiden Positionen in der Int. Deutschen Enduro Meisterschaft durch Luca Fischeder und Jeremy Sydow relativ klar bezogen sind, geht es um den dritten Gesamtrang umso enger zu. Hier liegen Florian Görner und Davide von Zitzewitz nur sieben Punkte auseinander, was absolute Spannung garantiert. „Für mich wäre es natürlich toll, Florian noch abfangen zu können. Aber ich sehe es auch realistisch. Zschopau ist sein Heimrennen und das hat ja bekanntlich immer einen besonderen Effekt auf die Jungs aus dem Erzgebirge“, lacht Davide von Zitzewitz, der dieses Mal ungewohnter Weise auf einer GasGas ausrücken wird. „Ich habe die 350iger bereits in Kaltenkirchen gefahren und fand, dass ich diese auch gern einmal in Zschopau ausprobieren möchte. Aber keine Sorge, im kommenden Jahr bin ich wieder auf Orange unterwegs“, so der bereits feststehende E2-Meister, der dadurch das Finale entsprechend befreit angehen kann.
Die Situation im Championat wurde eben beleuchtet. In der Klasse E3 sind die ersten drei Positionen mit Luca Fischeder, Florian Görner und Beta-Fahrer Jörg Haustein fest bezogen. Hinter Davide von Zitzewitz wird es noch einen spannenden Dreikampf um den Vize-Titel geben. Karl Weigelt, ebenfalls ein Lokalmatador auf KTM, hat die besten Karten in der Hand, liegt acht bzw. neun Punkte vor dem GasGas-Duo Paul Roßbach und Nico Rambow.
Für Jeremy Sydow sollte die E1-Meisterschaft, aufgrund seiner 23 Punkte Vorsprung, nur noch Formsache sein. Ebenso wie der E1-Vizetitel für Edward Hübner. Der KTM-Fahrer brach sich in Rehna das Schlüsselbein, ist aber bereits wieder zurück auf der Strecke. „Genau drei Wochen nach meinem Sturz saß ich das erste Mal wieder auf dem Motorrad. Ich fühle mich erstaunlich gut und bin auch den Umständen entsprechend relativ fit“, zeigt sich der einzige RuZ-Gesamtsieger im aktuellen Starterfeld entsprechend zufrieden. Platz drei in der E1 ist hingegen noch hartumkämpft. 2023iger E1-Europameister Andreas Beier (Beta) und Husqvarna-Fahrer Maximilian Wills trennen nur drei Zähler.
Wird der Junioren-Titel nach Tschechien entführt?
Noch ist nichts entschieden, wenngleich Robert Friedrich als Favorit in das Saisonfinale geht. Zum einen liegt der Tscheche mit deutscher Lizenz 15 Punkte in Front. Zum anderen bewies der GasGas-Fahrer erst im Vorjahr eindrucksvoll mit zwei Tagessiegen beim Open-Cup, welcher im Rahmen der Enduro-WM ausgetragen wurde, dass ihm das Gelände in Zschopau bestens liegt. Platz zwei hat aktuell Leon Thoms (KTM) innen, drei Punkte dahinter lauert Pascal Sadecki. Der Zschopauer Fantic-Fahrer dürfte bei seinem Heimspiel alle Hebel in Bewegung setzen, um sich im Gesamtklassement noch weiter nach vorn zu schieben.
Die Platzierungen in der Deutschen Enduro Mannschaftswertung sind relativ klar bezogen aber noch keineswegs fest zementiert. Hier führt aktuell die erste Mannschaft des ADAC Sachsen (191 Punkte) vor dem Team ADAC Niedersachsen / Sachsen-Anhalt (170) und der zweiten Garde des ADAC Sachsen (156).
In diesem Jahr wird es drei Sonderprüfungen geben. Der Cross-Test in Venusberg (SP1) feiert nach kurzer Auszeit ebenso sein Comeback, wie der legendäre Skihang (SP3). Die Sonderprüfung in unmittelbarer Stadtnähe wurde zuletzt 2016 gefahren und bildet den Abschluss der rund 80 Kilometer langen Geländerunde, denn von dort aus geht es lediglich nur noch auf das MZZ-Gelände (ehemals MZ-Altwerk), dem Rundenziel. Die SP2 befindet sich im „Hübler-Wald“ in Waldkirchen. Zu den interessanten Streckenpunkten zählt zweifellos der Abschnitt „Under the Brigde“ in Zschopau, die beiden Schlammlöcher in Altenhain und Börnichen sowie der jetzt erst dazugekommene Strecken-Abschnitt am Witzschdorfer Steinbruch mit einer kernigen Steilauffahrt. Zudem wurde die Zeitkontrolle in das dortige Steinbruch-Areal verlegt, um das ganze Geschehen zu bündeln. So können die Zuschauer die Fahrer beim Service und im Gelände gleichermaßen, hautnah und nur wenige Schritte voneinander getrennt erleben. Unter ihnen werden sich klassenübergreifend auch einige Gaststarter aus der Tschechischen Republik, Schweden und Italien befinden. Hervorzuheben sind hierbei Pontus Skoog (Beta), der Drittplatzierte der diesjährigen Schwedischen E3-Meisterschaft sowie Jaroslav Kalny (Sherco), WM-Starter und aktuell Zweiter der Tschechischen Junioren-Meisterschaft.
Wer letztlich ganz oben stehen wird und für wen die Sektkorken knallen, wird sich am kommenden Samstag bei der Zielankunft im großen Festzelt auf dem oberen MZZ-Gelände zeigen. Also seid gespannt und willkommen zu „Rund um Zschopau“ 2023!

The enduro classic in the Erzgebirge has cult status, which is impressively reflected in its continued popularity and currently 277 entries for the 2023 edition. A victory in the motorcycle town of Zschopau is prestigious and carries a lot of weight, just like many championship titles, which will take place next Saturday at the grand finale of the Int. German Enduro Championship, still a few to be awarded.
“I would like to end the season with the championship victory in Zschopau,” says Jeremy Sydow, clearly summing up his ambitions. In any case, the Sherco driver is currently brimming with self-confidence. At the end of September he secured the junior title in the French Enduro Championship undefeated. Last weekend he finished third overall in the FIM Junior World Championship. He also won the runner-up title in the Junior2 category! “The last few weeks have been really intense, but also very successful. “I have to look back long and hard to find a season in which everything went so smoothly,” says the Sherco driver happily. No failure, no injuries – and it should stay that way in the final. “Zschopau is a special race with lots of fans. “I’m looking forward to it and of course I want to win, although Luca will certainly be very strong,” says Jeremy Sydow, who has the best chance of winning the E1 title, looking at his teammate Luca Fischer. Who, in turn, goes into the final run still a little under the weather.
For the incumbent Int. The German Enduro Champion’s main focus is on successfully defending his title, which was even hanging by a thread at times. “My fall in Rehna had far greater consequences than I would have liked. In the days that followed, my entire upper body hurt. I couldn’t even take a deep breath without pain. Riding a motorbike was out of the question at first,” says Luca Fischer, describing the situation, which is why it was with a heavy heart that he decided not to take part in the last World Championship races in Portugal. But now he has been back in training for a few days and is in good spirits. “I’ve trained three times now and I’m not quite back to 100 percent yet, but I’m on the right track. The championship title is the top priority. But obviously winning ‚Around Zschopau‘ would be really cool.”
While the first two positions in the Int. German Enduro Championship by Luca Fischer and Jeremy Sydow are relatively clear, third place overall is even closer. Here Florian Görner and Davide von Zitzewitz are only seven points apart, which guarantees absolute excitement. “It would of course be great for me to be able to intercept Florian. But I also see it realistically. Zschopau is his home race and, as we all know, that always has a special effect on the guys from the Erzgebirge,” laughs Davide von Zitzewitz, who this time will be riding a GasGas in an unusual way. “I have already driven the 350 in Kaltenkirchen and thought that I would also like to try it out in Zschopau. But don’t worry, I’ll be back on Orange next year,” said the already established E2 champion, who can therefore approach the final with the appropriate freedom.
Florian Görner would logically like to maintain third place. “There’s no question about it, that’s the declared goal,” said the KTM rider in a decidedly combative manner before his home race. “I’m really looking forward to it. And especially the special stage on the ski slope, even if not everyone can understand that,” smiles the local hero.
The situation in the championship has just been highlighted. In the E3 class, the first three positions are firmly occupied by Luca Fischer, Florian Görner and Beta driver Jörg Haustein. Behind Davide von Zitzewitz there will be an exciting three-way battle for the runner-up title. Karl Weigelt, also a local hero on KTM, has the best cards in hand and is eight and nine points ahead of the GasGas duo Paul Roßbach and Nico Rambow.
For Jeremy Sydow, the E1 championship should only be a formality due to his 23 point lead. Just like the E1 runner-up title for Edward Hübner. The KTM rider broke his collarbone in Rehna, but is already back on the track. “Exactly three weeks after my crash I was back on the motorcycle for the first time. “I feel surprisingly good and am relatively fit given the circumstances,” says the only RuZ overall winner in the current starting field. Third place in the E1, however, is still hotly contested. 2023 E1 European champion Andreas Beier (Beta) and Husqvarna driver Maximilian Wills are only separated by three points.
Will the junior title be kidnapped to the Czech Republic?
Nothing has been decided yet, although Robert Friedrich is the favorite going into the season finale. On the one hand, the Czech with a German license is 15 points ahead. On the other hand, the GasGas rider impressively demonstrated just last year with two day victories in the Open Cup, which was held as part of the Enduro World Championship, that the terrain in Zschopau suits him perfectly. Leon Thoms (KTM) is currently in second place, with Pascal Sadecki lurking three points behind. The Zschopau Fantic driver should pull out all the stops at his home game to move even further forward in the overall rankings.
The placings in the German Enduro team rankings are relatively clear but are by no means firmly cemented. The first team from ADAC Saxony is currently leading here (191 points) ahead of the team ADAC Niedersachsen / Saxony-Anhalt (170) and the second guard from ADAC Saxony (156).
There will be three special stages this year. The cross test in Venusberg (SP1) is celebrating its comeback after a short break, as is the legendary ski slope (SP3). The special stage in the immediate vicinity of the city was last run in 2016 and marks the end of the approximately 80 kilometer long off-road lap, because from there the only route is to the MZZ site (formerly MZ-Altwerk), the lap destination. The SP2 is located in the “Hübler Forest” in Waldkirchen. The interesting points on the route undoubtedly include the section “Under the Brigde” in Zschopau, the two mud holes in Altenhain and Börnichen and the recently added section at the Witzschdorfer Quarry with a robust, steep driveway. In addition, the time control was moved to the quarry area there in order to concentrate the entire event. This means that spectators can experience the drivers both during service and off-road, up close and only a few steps apart from each other. Among them there will also be some guest starters from the Czech Republic, Sweden and Italy across all classes. Worth mentioning here are Pontus Skoog (Beta), third place in this year’s Swedish E3 Championship, and Jaroslav Kalny (Sherco), World Championship starter and currently second in the Czech Junior Championship.
Who will ultimately be at the top and for whom the champagne corks will pop will be revealed next Saturday at the finish in the large marquee on the upper MZZ site. So stay tuned and welcome to “Around Zschopau” 2023!
