Letti lässt es heftig krachen und deklassiert die Konkurrenz in nahezu jedem wichtigen Vorlauf/Prolog/Qualifikation – was für eine Dominanz. Mit 2 von 3 möglichen Siegn nach 2 von 3 Tagen ist die Bilanz einfach bestechend. Schafft er auch noch das große Finale für den ersten Hattrick in der 2024er Saison?
Zu Beginn des Rennwochenendes traten die Fahrer auf der kurzen Extremstrecke mit SuperEnduro-Elementen am Freitag in einer Reihe von Rennen gegeneinander an. Obwohl es heiß und staubig war, war die Action in der Walters Arena großartig. Im ersten Lauf war es Manuel Lettenbichler von Red Bull KTM Factory Racing, der sich gegen einen unglaublichen Angriff von Ashton Brightmore vom Junior-Fahrer TTR Squadra Corse durchsetzte und den Sieg holte. Im zweiten Lauf führte Will Hoare die Bestenliste an. Jonny Walker von Red Bull Beta führte souverän Heat 3 an und Wade Young von Red Bull Leader Tread war der Schnellste in Heat 4.
In den Halbfinalrennen holte sich Lettenbichler erneut den Sieg, während Teodor Kabakchiev von Sherco Factory Racing den zweiten Platz belegte.
Als die Flagge fiel, waren Lettenbichler, Walker, Alfredo Gomez und Young mitten im Geschehen. Kabakchiev machte enorm viel Druck wie auch Mitch Brightmore. Als jedoch die Runden anstanden, hatte Lettenbichler alles im Griff und schaffte es, den Sieg über Walker zu erringen. Gomez wehrte sowohl Young als auch Kabakchiev ab und holte sich den dritten Platz.
Für den Zeitfahr-Prolog am Samstag mussten die Teilnehmer eine 10 Kilometer lange Strecke absolvieren – nur einmal allerdings, so dass keine Zeit für Fehler war. Mit der schnellsten Zeit aus zwei Läufen würden sich die Top 100 für das Finale am Sonntag qualifizieren. Zudem gab es noch zusätzliche Meisterschaftspunkte für die drei Erstplatzierten. Es war also angerichtet, um wichtige Punkte für die Gesamtwertung zu holen.
Während die Walters Arena in Sonnenschein erstrahlte, machten sich die Fahrer auf den Weg zu ihrer morgendlichen erste heißen Runde. Lettenbichler setzte sofort die Pace und durchbrach die 17-Minuten-Marke womit er zugleich die Bestenliste vor Jonny Walker mit 10 Sekunden Rückstand an. Kabakchiev lag nur zwei Sekunden hinter dem Beta-Fahrer auf dem dritten Platz.
Nach einer Pause und zum Aufladen der Akkus samt Bike-Check legten die Top-Piloten nochmal nach und fuhren am Nachmittag unglaubliche Zeiten. Manuel Lettenbichler fuhr derart effizient, dass er es sogar unter die 16-Minuten-Marke schaffte, um sich am Samstag souverän den Sieg zu sichern.
Auch Kabakchiev hatte für die zweite gezeitete Runde alles im Griff und verbesserte sich auf den zweiten Platz. Er kam 20 Sekunden hinter Lettenbichler ins Ziel. Walker war auf seiner Beta richtig schnell unterwegs, konnte seine Zeiten aber nicht weiter verbessern, um Kabakchiev in Schach zu halten. Er lag über drei Sekunden hinter seinem Rivalen auf dem dritten Platz.
Hinter den ersten drei kam es zum Kampf der Brüder Ashton und Mitch Brightmore. Ashton schob sich vor seinem älteren Bruder Mitch und belegte den vierten Platz, während Mitch den fünften Platz belegte. Ashton war auch Schnellster in der von KLIM unterstützten FIM Hard Enduro Junior World Championship.
Mit nahezu identischen Zeiten schlug Will Hoare Mario Roman um eine Zehntelsekunde und belegte den sechsten Platz.

Am Sonntag folgt dann das große Finale. Dass zweieinhalbstündige Rennen am Vormittag ist für diejenigen gedacht, die im Qualifying am Samstag nicht die Top-100 erreichten. Die schnellsten 100 gehen am Nachmittag für drei Stunden plus eine Runde ins große Finale. Auf einer 16 Kilometer langen Strecke mit erhöhtem Schwierigkeitsgrad im Vergleich zum Vormittagsrennen wird es bis zur Ziellinie ein garantiert heftiger Kampf.
1. Manuel Lettenbichler (KTM): „Ich bin begeistert, heute den Sieg und diese wichtigen Meisterschaftspunkte geholt zu haben. Der Kurs war heute wirklich gut. Ich habe in Runde eins und noch einmal in Runde zwei hart gepusht, aber ich hatte nicht damit gerechnet, meine Zeit so stark zu verbessern. Ich fühle mich gut auf dem Bike und freue mich auf morgen!“
2. Teodor Kabakchiev (Sherco): „Ich hatte einen guten Flow auf der Strecke und habe es dort draußen wirklich genossen. Das Gelände ist super schön und ich bin gespannt, was der morgige Tag bringt.“
3. Ashton Brightmore (GASGAS): „Bisher waren es zwei großartige Tage. Ich fahre gut und es macht mir viel Spaß. Heute gelang es mir, meine Zeit im zweiten Lauf zu verbessern und den vierten Gesamtrang als schnellsten Junior zu erreichen. Da es mein Heimspiel ist, erwarte ich morgen ein gutes Ergebnis.“

Letti lets it rip and outclasses the competition in almost every important heat/prologue/qualification – what dominance. With 2 out of 3 possible wins after 2 out of 3 days, the result is simply impressive. Can he also make it to the grand finale for his first hat trick in the 2024 season?
At the start of the race weekend, the drivers competed against each other in a series of races on the short extreme track with SuperEnduro elements on Friday. Even though it was hot and dusty, the action at Walters Arena was great. In the first race it was Manuel Lettenbichler of Red Bull KTM Factory Racing who fought off an incredible attack from junior rider TTR Squadra Corse’s Ashton Brightmore to take the win. In the second run, Will Hoare topped the leaderboard. Red Bull Beta’s Jonny Walker confidently led Heat 3 and Red Bull Leader Tread’s Wade Young was fastest in Heat 4.
In the semifinal races Lettenbichler took victory again, while Sherco Factory Racing’s Teodor Kabakchiev took second place.
When the flag fell, Lettenbichler, Walker, Alfredo Gomez and Young were in the middle of the action. Kabakchiev put a lot of pressure on, as did Mitch Brightmore. However, when the rounds came around, Lettenbichler had everything under control and managed to take the win over Walker. Gomez held off both Young and Kabakchiev to take third place.
For Saturday’s time trial prologue, participants had to complete a 10-kilometer route – but only once, so there was no time for mistakes. With the fastest time from two runs, the top 100 would qualify for the final on Sunday. There were also additional championship points for the top three finishers. So it was all set to get important points for the overall ranking.
With the Walters Arena aglow in sunshine, the drivers set off for their first hot lap of the morning. Lettenbichler immediately set the pace and broke the 17-minute mark, putting him on top of the leaderboard ahead of Jonny Walker, 10 seconds behind. Kabakchiev was just two seconds behind the Beta driver in third place.
After a break and a bike check to recharge the batteries, the top pilots went for it again and set incredible times in the afternoon. Manuel Lettenbichler drove so efficiently that he even made it under the 16-minute mark to confidently secure victory on Saturday.
Kabakchiev also had everything under control for the second timed lap and improved to second place. He finished 20 seconds behind Lettenbichler. Walker was really fast on his beta, but couldn’t improve his times to keep Kabakchiev at bay. He was over three seconds behind his rival in third place.
Behind the top three there was a battle between brothers Ashton and Mitch Brightmore. Ashton edged ahead of his older brother Mitch to take fourth place, while Mitch finished fifth. Ashton was also fastest in the KLIM-supported FIM Hard Enduro Junior World Championship.
With almost identical times, Will Hoare beat Mario Roman by a tenth of a second to take sixth place.

The big finale follows on Sunday. The two and a half hour race in the morning is intended for those who did not reach the top 100 in qualifying on Saturday. The fastest 100 go to the grand finale in the afternoon for three hours plus one lap. On a 16 kilometer long route with an increased level of difficulty compared to the morning race, it is guaranteed to be a fierce battle to the finish line.
Manuel Lettenbichler (KTM): “I’m stoked to take the win today and claim those important championship points. The course was really good today. I pushed hard on lap one, and again on lap two, but I didn’t expect to improve my time by so much. I feel good on the bike and I’m excited for tomorrow!”
Teodor Kabakchiev (Sherco): “I had a good flow on the trail and really enjoyed it out there. The terrain is nice here and I’m excited to see what tomorrow brings.”
Ashton Brightmore (GASGAS): “It’s been a great two days so far. I’m riding well and enjoying it a lot. Today I managed to improve my time in the second run to place fourth overall and fastest Junior. As it’s my home round I’m looking for a good result tomorrow.”
