Nach der spannenden Prolog-Qualifikation am Mittwoch versammelten sich die Fahrer am frühen Donnerstagmorgen zum ersten von drei Offroad-Renntagen bei der Xross Hardenduro Rally. Aufgabenstellung: 100 km Distanz im serbischen Gebirge mit allem was die Natur an Hindernissen bereit hält.
Zunächst ging Teodor Kabakchiev auf seiner Sherco als Erster des 54-köpfigen Teilnehmerfelds in Führung. Das TTR Squadra Corse Brüder-Duo Ashton Brightmore und Mitch Brightmore gingen sofort auf P2 und P3 ins Gefecht, gefolgt von Mario Roman auf seiner Französin.
Als Fünfter legte Wade Young, Red Bull Leader Tread, los wie der Teufel. Um seine Konkurrenz zu überrumpeln machte sich der Südafrikaner an die Arbeit und fuhr konstant extrem schnelle Sektorzeiten. Dadurch konnte er sich auf seiner GasGas den Sieg mit einem Vorsprung von knapp fünf Minuten sichern.
Der späte Startplatz spielte dem Österreicher Michael Walkner in die Hände. Er nutzte die Spuren derer, die die Strecke vor ihm eröffneten, und beendete den ersten Offroad-Tag auf einem starken zweiten Platz.
Obwohl Kabakchiev den Tag eröffnete und später leider mit Reifenproblemen zu kämpfen hatte, zeigte er dennoch eine starke Leistung. Der Bulgare wurde Dritter und liegt in der Gesamtwertung nur 15 Sekunden hinter Walkner.
Für Roman verlief der erste Tag in den Bergen bei der Xross Hardenduro Rally nicht ganz nach seinen Wünschen. Der Spanier fuhr einige starke Sektorzeiten, konnte aber das Tempo des Spitzentrios nicht mitgehen. Er beendete seinen Tag als Vierter in der Gesamtwertung und liegt jetzt bereits satte 12 Minuten hinter dem Spitzenreiter Young.
Einer der wohl beeindruckendsten Auftritte des Tages liefert David Cyprian aus der Tschechischen Republik ab. Der KTM-Fahrer kämpfte sich durch die härtesten Abschnitte und belegte den wohlverdienten fünften Platz – Respekt.
Der Junior Matthew Green von Rigo Racing belegte am ersten Offroad-Tag den sechsten Platz, vor dem Qualifikationssieger Mitch Brightmore auf dem siebten Platz.
Brightmore hält nach wie vor die Gesamtführung in der Junior-Wertung. Der Brite liegt derzeit über sechs Minuten vor Suff Sella (KTM) auf dem zweiten Platz und Ashton Brightmore (Husqvarna) auf dem dritten Platz.
Und was war mit unserem Hardenduro-Urgestein Graham Jarvis los? Leider liegen uns dazu keine Infos vor, doch er ist bereits heute am Tag 2 laut Tracking verdammt flott unterwegs und rangiert heute Morgen auf zwischen P2 und P4. Weiter so…

After the exciting prologue qualification on Wednesday, the riders gathered early on Thursday morning for the first of three days of off-road racing at the Xross Hardenduro Rally. Task: 100 km distance in the Serbian mountains with all the obstacles nature has in store.
First, Teodor Kabakchiev took the lead on his Sherco as first of the 54-strong field. The TTR Squadra Corse brother duo Ashton Brightmore and Mitch Brightmore immediately entered the fray in P2 and P3, followed by Mario Roman on his French.
In fifth, Wade Young, Red Bull leader Tread, hit like hell. In order to surprise his competition, the South African got to work and consistently set extremely fast sector times. As a result, he was able to secure victory on his GasGas with a lead of almost five minutes.
The late starting position played into the hands of the Austrian Michael Walkner. He took advantage of the footsteps of those who opened the route before him and finished the first off-road day in a strong second place.
Although Kabakchiev opened the day and unfortunately later struggled with tire problems, he still put in a strong performance. The Bulgarian came third and is only 15 seconds behind Walkner in the overall standings.
For Roman, the first day in the mountains at the Xross Hardenduro Rally didn’t go quite the way he wanted. The Spaniard set some strong sector times, but was unable to keep up with the pace of the leading trio. He ended his day fourth overall and is now already a whopping 12 minutes behind leader Young.
One of the most impressive performances of the day was delivered by David Cyprian from the Czech Republic. The KTM rider fought through the toughest sections and took a well-deserved fifth place – respect.
Junior Matthew Green of Rigo Racing took sixth place on the first off-road day, ahead of qualifier Mitch Brightmore in seventh place.
Brightmore still holds the overall lead in the Junior standings. The Brit is currently over six minutes ahead of Suff Sella (KTM) in second place and Ashton Brightmore (Husqvarna) in third.
And what was going on with our hardenduro veteran Graham Jarvis? Unfortunately we don’t have any information about this, but according to the tracking, he’s already running pretty fast on day 2 today and is between P2 and P4 this morning. Keep it up…
