Nach Konsultationen mit Vertretern der Regierung von Lesotho und der Sport- und Freizeitkommission von Lesotho (LSRC) wurde Live Lesotho mitgeteilt, dass Lesotho auf unbestimmte Zeit gesperrt wird. Diese Entscheidung basiert auf den Bedenken hinsichtlich einer möglichen zweiten Welle von COVID-19-Infektionen. Aufgrund dieser notwendigen Einschränkungen wurde „Die Mutter des Hardenduros“ daher auf 2021 verschoben.
„Wir sind uns bewusst, wie enttäuschend diese Nachricht für die Fahrer und ihre Teams ist, aber leider hat sich die aktuelle Situation nicht ausreichend stabilisiert und es besteht derzeit einfach zu viel Unsicherheit in Bezug auf die Pandemie. Wir sind es allen Beteiligten und insbesondere den Menschen in unserem Gastland Lesotho schuldig, dafür zu sorgen, dass das Motul Roof of Afrika keine zusätzlichen COVID-19-Risiken birgt. Leider können wir dies unter den gegenwärtigen Umständen nicht garantieren “, kommentierte Charan Moore, Geschäftsführer von Live Lesotho.
Live Lesotho hat diese Entscheidung den Sponsoren der Veranstaltung mitgeteilt. Der Titelsponsor Motul hat erklärt, dass er die Verschiebung der 53. Ausgabe des Roof of Africa bis zum nächsten Jahr voll und ganz unterstützt, bis hoffentlich ein viel größeres Maß an Sicherheit in Bezug auf die Pandemie und die erforderlichen Vorsichtsmaßnahmen besteht.
Moore dankte den Sponsoren, Fahrern, LSRC-, LORA- und Live Lesotho-Teammitgliedern für ihre Unterstützung und für die harte Arbeit, die bereits in die 53. Ausgabe des Motul Roof of Africa investiert wurde. Er verpflichtete sich, diese kollektive positive Energie zu nutzen, um die Roof of Afrika 2021 zum bisher besten Event zu machen.
Live Lesotho gab weiter bekannt, dass alle Fahrer, die sich einen Platz im Event 2020 gesichert und bereits bezahlt haben, diesen ohne zusätzliche Kosten auf die Ausgabe 2021 übertragen können. Alternativ können sie sich auch für eine vollständige Rückerstattung entscheiden.
Die bestätigte Termin für die Veranstaltung im nächsten Jahr ist der 3. bis 6. November 2021, so dass Fahrer und Enduro-Fans diese Termine in ihren Kalender aufnehmen können. Following consultations with representatives of the Lesotho Government and the Lesotho Sports and Recreation Commission (LSRC), Live Lesotho has beenadvised that Lesotho will remain inalevel 3 lockdown indefinitely. This decision is based on the concerns surrounding a possible second wave of COVID-19 infections. Due to these necessary restrictions, the 53rdedition of the “Mother of Hard Enduro” has therefore been postponed until 2021.
“We are aware of how disappointing this news will be to riders and their teams, but unfortunately the current situation has not stabilised enough and there is simply too much uncertainty surrounding the pandemic at present. We owe it to everyone involved, and especially the people of our host country, Lesotho, to ensure that the Motul Roof of Africa does not present any additional COVID-19 risks. Unfortunately, we cannot guarantee that in the current circumstances,” commented Charan Moore,Managing Director of Live Lesotho.
Live Lesotho has communicated this decision to the event sponsors. The title sponsor, Motul, has indicated that they fully support the postponement of the 53rd edition of theRoof of Africa until next year, by when it is hoped that there will be a much greater degree of certainty surrounding the pandemic and any ongoing precautions required to contain it.
Moore thanked the sponsors, riders, LSRC, LORA and Live Lesotho team members for their support and for the hard work that has already been invested into the 53rd edition of the Motul Roof of Africa. He committed to channelling this collective positive energy into making the 2021 Motul Roof of Africa the best yet.
Live Lesotho further announced that all riders who had secured and paid for a place in the 2020 event can carry this forward to the 2021 edition at no additional cost. Alternatively, they can opt for a full refund.
The confirmed dates for next year’s event will be 3 – 6 November 2021, so riders and Enduro fans can add those dates to their diaries.
