Die äußerst unterschiedlichen Streckenbedingungen wurde der Rekord-Grand Prix-Sieger Jeffrey Herlings (NL/Red Bull KTM Factory Racing) beim ADAC MX Masters in Gaildorf seiner Favoritenrolle gerecht und gewann sowohl die Qualifikation als auch die zwei ausgetragenen Wertungsläufe. In der Gesamtwertung rundeten Pauls Jonass (LVA/Standing Construct Honda MXGP) und Tom Koch (D/Kosak Racing Team) das Podium ab. Max Nagl (D/KMP Honda Racing powered by Krettek) behält weiterhin die Tabellenführung.
Im ersten Wertungslauf des ADAC MX Masters am Samstag spurtete Jeffrey Herlings bei trockenen Streckenbedingungen als Erster über die Red Bull Holeshot-Linie, nachdem er in der Qualifikation bereits die Bestzeit fuhr. Der Niederländer setzte sich bei seinem Gaststart im Rennverlauf kontinuierlich an der Spitze ab und baute seinen Vorsprung bis auf über 20 Sekunden vor dem Zweitplatzierten Henry Jacobi (D/KTM Sarholz Racing Team) aus. Jacobi positionierte sich direkt nach dem Start auf dem zweiten Rang und fuhr diesen bis ins Ziel, ohne sich deutlich von der Verfolgergruppe, bestehend aus Jonass und Koch absetzen zu können. In der ersten Rennhälfte fuhr auch Jordi Tixier (F/KMP Honda Racing powered by Krettek) das Tempo dieser Gruppe mit, fiel dann jedoch etwas ab. Koch jedoch attackierte Jonass bis zuletzt und übernahm in der letzten Runde noch den dritten Rang hinter Herlings und Jacobi. Nagl kam mit einer defekten Kupplung nur auf dem achten Platz hinter Boris Maillard (F/stielergruppe.mx Johannes-Bikes) und Maximilian Spies (D/Kosak Racing Team) ins Ziel.

In der Nacht zum Sonntag sorgte viel Regen für tiefen, weichen und schlammigen Untergrund. Dauerregen sorgte in allen Klassen für sehr herausfordernde Bedingungen. Im zweiten Wertungslauf am Sonntagmittag legte Herlings abermals einen Start-Ziel-Sieg hin, bei dem er die Verfolger um 26 Sekunden distanzierte. Hinter ihm positionierten sich nach dem Start Jonass und Nagl als engste Verfolger vor Koch und Jacobi. Nagl kam im Rennverlauf bis auf wenige Sekunden an Jonass heran, musste dann aufgrund eines überrundeten Fahrers auf der einspurig gewordenen Strecke kurz anhalten, wodurch der Kontakt wieder abriss. Jacobi verdrängte Koch in der fünften Runde vom vierten Platz, rutschte dann aber vier Runden später mit rauchendem Motorrad innerhalb einer Runde auf den zehnten Rang ab. Spies rückte dadurch auf die fünfte Position vor, musste diese zum Rennende aber noch an Simone Croci (I/Enduro Koch Racing) abtreten.

Der dritte Wertungslauf wurde aufgrund der Wetter- und Streckenbedingungen nicht ausgetragen. Herlings siegte ungeschlagen vor Jonass, Koch, Jacobi und Nagl, der weiterhin die Meisterschaft anführt.
„Am Samstag hat es im Trockenen viel Spaß gemacht, heute waren die Bedingungen sehr speziell und schwierig. Für mich war es eine sehr gute Vorbereitung für die nächsten WM-Rennen. Schade für die Fans, dass wir wegen des Regens einen Lauf weniger gefahren sind, aber ich freue mich schon auf das nächste Rennen in Tensfeld, wo ich auch wieder antreten werde“, freute sich Herlings bei der Siegerehrung.
„Nach einer schlechten Qualifikation, die für einen schlechten Startplatz sorgte, kämpfte ich am Samstag auch noch mit einer defekten Kupplung, was sehr schwierig war. Da in der Meisterschaft jeder Punkt zählt, versuchte ich, das Beste aus dem ersten Lauf zu machen. Heute hat trotzt der schwierigen Bedingungen alles gut funktioniert und es war insgesamt ein guter Tag“, zog Nagl Fazit.

In the first race of the ADAC MX Masters on Saturday, Jeffrey Herlings was the first to sprint across the Red Bull Holeshot line in dry track conditions, having already set the best time in qualifying. During his guest start, the Dutchman continuously pulled away from the front and extended his lead to more than 20 seconds over second-placed Henry Jacobi (D/KTM Sarholz Racing Team). Jacobi took second place right after the start and drove it to the finish without being able to break away from the chasing group consisting of Jonass and Koch. Jordi Tixier (F/KMP Honda Racing powered by Krettek) also matched the pace of this group in the first half of the race, but then dropped off a bit. Koch, however, attacked Jonass to the last and took third place behind Herlings and Jacobi on the last lap. With a defective clutch, Nagl only finished in eighth place behind Boris Maillard (F/stielergruppe.mx Johannes-Bikes) and Maximilian Spies (D/Kosak Racing Team).

In the night to Sunday, a lot of rain made for deep, soft and muddy ground. Continuous rain made for very challenging conditions in all classes. In the second race on Sunday afternoon, Herlings again achieved a start-finish victory, in which he distanced his pursuers by 26 seconds. After the start, Jonass and Nagl positioned themselves behind him as the closest pursuers ahead of Koch and Jacobi. During the course of the race, Nagl came within a few seconds of Jonass, but then had to stop briefly because a driver had been lapped on the single-lane track, causing contact to break off again. Jacobi ousted Koch from fourth place on the fifth lap, but then slipped four laps later with a smoking motorcycle to tenth place within one lap. As a result, Spies moved up to fifth position, but had to cede this position to Simone Croci (I/Enduro Koch Racing) at the end of the race.

The third race was not held due to the weather and track conditions. Herlings won undefeated ahead of Jonass, Koch, Jacobi and Nagl, who continues to lead the championship.
“On Saturday it was a lot of fun in the dry, today the conditions were very special and difficult. For me it was a very good preparation for the next World Championship races. It’s a pity for the fans that we drove one run less because of the rain, but I’m already looking forward to the next race in Tensfeld, where I’ll compete again,‘ Herlings said happily at the award ceremony.
“After a bad qualification, which resulted in a bad grid position, I also struggled with a defective clutch on Saturday, which was very difficult. Because every point counts in the championship, I tried to make the most of the first run. Despite the difficult conditions, everything went well today and it was a good day overall,” concluded Nagl.
