Episode 5.5 of our Cape York Old Telegraph Track adventure takes a closer look at why we were still driving after dark, what the track was really like, and why we eventually decided enough was enough.
We were only around 8 to 10 kilometres from Nolan’s Brook, but on the OTT that distance means very little. Soft sand, deep ruts, quicksand, changing track conditions, decision fatigue and limited recovery options all stacking up.
This episode is part story, part behind the scenes and part explanation. We look at line choice, spotting, fatigue, night driving, recovery planning and how quickly a small mistake can turn into a much bigger problem.
