Holcombe went fastest on the second GMOTO Enduro Test, and with Verona quickest on the EXPOTRADE Cross Test, the top four of Garcia, Verona, Holcombe and Pichon were separated by only 11 seconds as they began the third and final lap.

Sensing a challenge, Garcia won the final POLISPORT Extreme Test to build a buffer over his rivals. Maintaining that throughout the remainder of the lap, he was able to hold on to take the EnduroGP class win.

Verona then came under pressure for second by Pichon. The Frenchman was charging hard, winning the final two tests. But it wouldn’t be enough for the TM MOTO rider, with Verona holding on to second by just 0.2 seconds over Pichon.

Holcombe ended his day just 22 seconds adrift of the podium in fourth, with Macdonald completing the top five.

Garcia’s Enduro1 win streak continues at GP of Portugal II

The Enduro1 class marked the ninth consecutive victory of the season for Garcia. Triumph Italia Racing’s Morgan Lesiardo held off Triumph Factory Racing’s Jeremy Sydow by 10 seconds to finish as the runner-up.

The fight for victory in the Enduro2 category was exceptionally tight. Verona edged out Pichon by just 0.2 seconds to take the win. Behind the top two, Macdonald finished in third.

Holcombe topped the Enduro3 class on day one in Fafe. It was a Sherco Racing Factory 1-2 with Julien Roussaly in second. NSA Racing’s Albin Norrbin ended his day six seconds behind Roussaly in third.

Debut win for Turner in Expotrade Women’s Enduro

The Expotrade Women’s Enduro class saw Enduro Engineering’s Shelby Turner claim a historic debut win, resulting in Canada’s first victory in the world championship.

After entering last weekend as a wildcard, Turner has proved herself to be an incredibly fast learner following her pair of runner-up results at round four. Today, she was the rider to beat.

Closing out lap one of three, she had built a one-minute lead over WP Eric Auge’s Joana Goncalves in second, with RIEJU Factory Team’s Rachel Gutish a further 20 seconds back in third. As the day progressed, Gutish fought her way into second, but was still over one-minute and 13 seconds behind Turner exiting the second GMOTO Enduro Test.

Despite a strong comeback by Gutish on the final two special tests, Turner still had enough in hand to take a momentous victory by 28 seconds. With Gutish settling for second, Goncalves controlled her position to take third overall and a podium result on home soil.

A very strong ride by Electraction TM MOTO’s Elizabeth Tett put her in fourth overall, while also winning the Expotrade Junior Women’s Enduro category. Ambiance Moto’s Justine Martel completed the top five.

Victory for Joyon in Tsubaki Junior Enduro

After securing his debut Tsubaki Junior Enduro victory last Sunday, Triumph Factory Racing’s Leo Joyon won again today. The Frenchman was riding on a wave of confidence in the Portuguese terrain, consistently fighting for special test wins. Firmly proving he has the pace to run at the front of the field, Joyon will be aiming high once more tomorrow.

Making a much-improved ride over last weekend in Fafe, Team KTM Pro Racing Sport’s Romain Dagna returned to the Tsubaki Junior Enduro podium with a runner-up result on day one. The Frenchman fought off TM MOTO Boano Factory Enduro Team’s Alberto Elgari throughout the final lap to beat the Italian by six seconds.

Fastest in two of the day’s final four special tests, NSA Racing’s Kevin Cristino took fourth, with WP Eric Auge’s Alex Puey rounding out the top five.

Winning ride for Scardina in Putoline Oil Youth Enduro

The Putoline Oil Youth Enduro class saw TM MOTO Costa Ligure’s Pietro Scardina continue his winning ways from last weekend’s round four with the young Italian taking the win on day one in Fafe.

However, the fight for the top of the podium was initially closely-fought out between Scardina, Fantic Factory Racing’s Valentin Mersin, WP Eric Auge’s Yago Dominguez and Team KTM Pro Racing Sport’s Simone Cagnoni.

By the midway point, Scardina held a lead of 11 seconds over Mersin, with Cagnoni a further eight seconds behind in third as Dominguez dropped back. Scardina and Mersin pulled further ahead, with Scardina taking the win by nine seconds over Mersin. Cagnoni finished in third, but was an eventual one-minute and 12 seconds behind Scardina.
