Den Start in die dritte Runde der FIM Hardenduro-Weltmeisterschaft im serbischen Zlatibor markierte eine actiongeladenen Qualifikation im SuperEnduro-Stil bei der Xross Hardenduro Rally 2024. Die kurze Strecke mit künstlichen Hindernissen auf einer Mischung aus Asphalt und Erde war nicht einfach, zumal die Hitze in dieser Region nicht unerheblich ist.

Am Ende der ersten Qualifikationsrunde waren es die jungen aufstrebenden Brüder aus England die diesem ersten Schlagabtausch ihren Stempel aufdrückten. Mitch Brightmore von TTR Squadra Corse setzte die schnellste Rundenzeit mit einer Sekunde Vorsprung vor seinem jüngeren Bruder Ashton auf Platz zwei, gefolgt vom Südafrikaner James Moore auf dem dritten Platz. Die beiden Top-Piloten Manuel Lettenbichler und Billy Bolt müssen verletzungsbedingt pausieren, ansonsten wäre wohl nichts über diese beiden Herren gegangen.

Als das acht Runden Finale der Pro-Klasse startete, waren alle Augen auf die Brightmore-Brüder gerichtet. Mitch und Ashton verschwendeten keine Zeit, um sich sofort an die Spitze zu setzen und machten kurzen Prozess mit der anspruchsvollen Strecke und der Konkurrenz.

Das Bruder-Duo von der Insel trieb sich gegenseitig an und man distanzierte sich von der Verfolgergruppe. Mitch behielt in der Hitze einen kühlen Kopf und hielt seinen Bruder Ashton in Schach, um sich einen wohlverdienten Sieg zu sichern. Obwohl Ashton sein Bestes gab, konnte er Mitch einfach nicht schlagen und musste sich letztendlich mit dem zweiten Platz zufrieden geben.

Hinter den ersten beiden war es ein weiterer enger Kampf um den letzten Podiumsplatz zwischen Teodor Kabakchiev und Alfredo Gomez. Am Ende war es der Sherco-Werksfahrer Kabakchiev, der Dritter wurde. Gomez folgte ihm über die Ziellinie und platzierte sich nur eine Sekunde dahinter auf Rang vier.

Den fünften Platz belegte Mario Roman und der Privatier Wade Young von Red Bull Leader Tread schnappt sich auf seiner GasGas den sechsten Platz. Altmeister Graham Jarvis belegt mit seinen 49 Jahren Rang sieben und zeigt der viel jüngeren Konkurrenz, dass Erfahrung duch nichts zu ersetzen ist. Und das wird sich wohl in den Berge definitiv niederschlagen. Es wird spannend, was Graham hier zu leisten vermag.

Mit den Plätzen eins und zwei in der Gesamtwertung sicherten sich Mitch und Ashton auch den Doppelsieg in der Junior-Kategorie. Suff Sella fuhr im Finale auf den achten Gesamtrang und war damit drittschnellster Junior-Fahrer.

Heute stehen 100 Kilometer anspruchsvolles serbisches Gelände an und es wird spannend werden, ob sich die Junioren auch im Gebirge gegenüber den alten Hasen in Szene setzen können.

The start of the third round of the FIM Hardenduro World Championship in Zlatibor, Serbia, marked an action-packed qualification in SuperEnduro style at the Xross Hardenduro Rally 2024. The short route with artificial obstacles on a mixture of asphalt and earth was not easy, especially as the heat was in this region is not insignificant.

At the end of the first qualifying round, it was the young, up-and-coming brothers from England who left their mark on this first exchange of blows. Mitch Brightmore of TTR Squadra Corse set the fastest lap time, one second ahead of his younger brother Ashton in second place, followed by South African James Moore in third place. The two top drivers Manuel Lettenbichler and Billy Bolt have to take a break due to injury, otherwise nothing would have happened to these two men.

As the eight-round finale of the Pro class started, all eyes were on the Brightmore brothers. Mitch and Ashton wasted no time in immediately taking the lead and making short work of the challenging route and the competition.

The brother duo from the island pushed each other on and they distanced themselves from the chasing group. Mitch kept his cool in the heat and kept his brother Ashton at bay to secure a well-deserved win. Despite trying his best, Ashton just couldn’t beat Mitch and ultimately had to settle for second place.

Behind the top two, it was another close battle for the final podium spot between Teodor Kabakchiev and Alfredo Gomez. In the end it was Sherco factory driver Kabakchiev who came third. Gomez followed him across the finish line and placed fourth, just a second behind.

Mario Roman took fifth place and privateer Wade Young from Red Bull Leader Tread took sixth place on his GasGas. Old master Graham Jarvis is in seventh place at the age of 49 and shows the much younger competition that there is no substitute for experience. And that will definitely be reflected in the mountains. It will be exciting to see what Graham can achieve here.

With first and second place overall, Mitch and Ashton also secured a double victory in the junior category. Suff Sella finished eighth overall in the final, making him the third fastest junior driver.

Today there are 100 kilometers of challenging Serbian terrain and it will be exciting to see whether the juniors can compete against the old hands in the mountains.
