SCHWERLASTTRANSPORTER HX81 „Elefant“ – So entsteht die kräftigste Zugmaschine der Bundeswehr – Ein Geländewagen in LKW-Größe. Mit einer Leistung von 680 PS gehört der HX81 zu den stärksten Zugmaschinen überhaupt. Fast zehn Meter lang und 23 Tonnen schwer ist der „Elefant“, wie er in der Bundeswehr heißt. Es ist die einzige Zugmaschine, die einen Kampfpanzer Leopard 2 problemlos bergen, ziehen und transportieren kann. Die Dokumentation gewährt einen Einblick in die Fertigung des HX81 im Werk in Wien und zeigt seinen Einsatz in einer Gefechtsübung.
HEAVY DUTY TRANSPORTER HX81 ‚Elephant‘ – This is how the Bundeswehr’s most powerful tractor is created – A truck-sized off-road vehicle. With an output of 680 hp, the HX81 is one of the most powerful tractors ever. The ‚elephant‘, as it is called in the Bundeswehr, is almost ten meters long and weighs 23 tons. It is the only tractor that can easily recover, tow and transport a Leopard 2 main battle tank. The documentation provides an insight into the production of the HX81 in the Vienna plant and shows its use in a combat exercise.
