OFF THE GRID: „Wir sind wieder auf offener Straße unterwegs – und dieses Mal nehmen wir eine der berühmtesten Outback-Routen Australiens in Angriff: Der Savannah Way. Wir fahren von Queensland ins Northern Territory über den National Highway One – die Straße, die einen einmal um das ganze Land führen könnte, wenn man einfach weiterfährt! Wir haben die geschäftige Ostküste hinter uns gelassen und fahren tief ins abgelegene Top End hinein. Vor uns liegen fast 3.000 km Wellblechstraßen, Überschwemmungsgebiete und weite Weite – genau wie wir es mögen. Zentral-Queensland wurde im Spätherbst von Rekordüberschwemmungen heimgesucht. Doch jetzt, wo der Wasserstand sinkt, erwacht das Outback zu neuem Leben. 🌱 Das sonst knochentrockene Land hat sich in eine Oase verwandelt – ein seltener Anblick und ein wahres Privileg, dies mitzuerleben. Wir haben solche Reisen schon einmal gemacht, und eines wissen wir ganz sicher: Australien ist groß! Schon allein das Erreichen des Startpunkts des Savannah Way erfordert ein paar Tage Fahrzeit… Von fantastischen Campingplätzen über unerwartete Umwege und neue Strecken bis hin zu ein paar neuen Freunden unterwegs – das Abenteuer fängt gerade erst an.“

OFF THE GRID: „We’re on the open road again – and this time we“re tackling one of Australias most famous outback routes: the Savannah Way. We drive from Queensland to the Northern Territory via National Highway One – the road that could take you around the country if you just keep driving! We have left the busy east coast behind us and drive deep into the remote Top End. Ahead of us are almost 3,000 km of corrugated iron roads, floodplains and wide expanses – just the way we like it. Central Queensland was hit by record flooding in late autumn 2025. But now that the water level is dropping, the outback is coming back to life. The otherwise bone-dry country has been transformed into an oasis – a rare sight and a true privilege to witness. We’ve done trips like this before, and we know one thing for sure: Australia is big! Just reaching the starting point of the Savannah Way requires a few days of driving…From fantastic campsites to unexpected detours and new routes to a few new friends along the way, the adventure is just beginning.“
